NEVER AGAIN! We have been patrons of the Galaxy Diner for years, having eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner and stopped last night for dinner. I ordered Roast Beef Au Jus, with mashed potatoes and apple sauce. They don't serve rolls, salad or anything extra, and when the roast beef arrived, it was slices of DARK GRAY BROWN with NO pink, floating in a cup of over salted "au jus" and was inedible! I tried to eat the meat, gave my husband a piece, he said, "don't eat that!" When I told the server, she brought over a guy who I assume was the owner or manager. I told him the meat was not fresh, tasted old and, instead of apologizing, he started BULLYING ME INSISTING HE WOULD CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE BEEF, and LOUDLY kept repeating the meat was "fine" and that I "just didn't like it!" Well, NO SIR, yes, the MEAT WAS HORRIBLE and he kept arguing and insisted "is it fair?" to charge me for the potatoes, applesauce and salad. GUESS WHAT? He charged $7.25 for a side of mashed potatoes, $4.50 for a tiny dish of applesauce, and $4.95 for the salad! The salad was bagged mixed lettuce which was thrown into a bowl, bits of wet spinach and wilted lettuce mixed up, it was just AWFUL! So, my "dinner" cost $16.70 with no meat! Now, Galaxy Diner WAS one of our favorite diners but NOT ANY MORE! Unless that owner changes his attitude and cleans up the diner, business will continue to shrink! And IT HAS shrunk! Now we know why the diner isn't HALF as busy as used to be! GOOD LUCK AT ATTRACTING AND KEEPING NEW CUSTOMERS! read more

Came here with my family because I ran out of bacon and sausages at home. I think this place is pricier than other diners closer to me, but I appreciate that their pancakes are actually fluffy as advertised. I'm so picky when it comes to pancakes! I also like that the home fries are a bit crispy. I come here from time to time and order the Hungry man special because I like a little bit of everything. I have been going hear since I was 16 years old in 1979 when it was called the Town and Country Diner. Once it changed hands and became the Galaxy Diner in the 80's it has been constantly the best diner in the area and alway a great value. Good food, good service always. The best home made corn beef hash and eggs hands down. They have gluten free bread which I'm grateful for since I now have a need to eat gluten free (not by choice, I miss regular bread). read more

Stopped here on the way home to Virginia from Block Island. Had corned beef hash and eggs with fruit instead of home fries. The hash was excellent, clearly made here by hand. My family loved their food as well. Prices were reasonable and the service was outstanding. Will stop again in the future. read more

This was my first time visiting this establishment on a Sat afternoon. Very busy, particularly for takeout. Extensive menu and most items seemed reasonably priced. Ordered a meatloaf sandwhich on toasted rye with mushroom gravy, coleslaw, cucumber salad. Cucumber salad was a little bland and pieces too large for my preference but o.k. Coleslaw was very good. Meatloaf was moist and tasty, bread perfectly toasted, gravy had fresh cooked mushrooms. The place seemed very clean, including the restrooms, and I witnessed continual cleaning of tables and chairs during my visit. While i did not try any, they had lots of delicious baked goods and desserts available. Service was adequate--my waitress seemed a bit spastic and rushed, but she did ok. Nice black and white photos of an older Bridgeport decorate the space. All in all, seems like a soild place for grub andI would come back and try more dishes. read more

The food was good but they almost killed my daughter. She has a dairy allergy and we asked NUMEROUS times for the omelette to be cooked in a separate pan, no butter etc. Well, lo and behold after we left the diner, we ended up in Norwalk hospital with an anaphylactic reaction. So my recommendation to anyone reading this would be to be VERY VERY VERY careful about going here if you have a food allergy. Apparently they don't take the risks very seriously or just don't understand food preparation. Either way it's dangerous, I'll never be going back here. read more

I stopped here purely by accident. Needed a break from driving and wound up at the Galaxy. Best breakfast I've had in along time. The homemade blintzes were amazing! Eggs and potatoes were very much to my liking as well. I stuffed myself silly! Definitely going to return on my next trip to New England. WF read more

I always order from this place and the food here is always good, but on fathers day I wanted to take my boyfriend out to have dinner and I thought of this place and it was the first time going on and actually sitting there to have dinner and I can only say that it feels so comfortable and the staff there was very kind and friendly. In Bridgeport today where their having a heat wave, 25 degrees. I'm early for a meeting so I should have breakfast because once I'm down be here I must get back to my office. A passed this diner and recalled reading a review by fellow yelper Sara B. This is an old school diner. Now a days when you go to a diner you think your in a 4 star restaurant. This is a down to earth diner. Breakfast menu is one page. I ordered two eggs scrambled easy with ham. Unfortunately they don't have the type of sausage I prefer but ham is fine. Here's something interesting: when my waitress brought my eggs she looked at the eggs and wanted to bring them back for redo because she didn't think they were cooked the way I asked. That's Uber customer service. Well I was ok with them. Came with home fries and toast. All was good. I would have no problem coming again . Normally I am not a diner fan. I generally try to avoid them whenever possible. However there are a rare few that I adore. Galaxy is one of the good ones. Galaxy has been around forever and with good reason. They are always consistently good and they have a huge menu. I have ordered so many different things here but were I to give a shout out to anything in particular it would be their Matzo Ball soup. Galaxy has the best Matzo Ball Soup in the area. Seriously think about ordering some. It is absolutely delicious and one of their standouts. Also good is their southern fried chicken platter. You will not leave this place hungry as portion size is big. Their menu is interesting and diverse and whether you are coming here for breakfast, dinner, getting takeout you really can't go wrong. Have been going to the Galaxy for 38 years. My daughters still visit when in the neighborhood. Liked the previous owners and staff. No former wait staff stayed when owners changed. At that time the prices increased drastically. We go occasionally now. The food is still excellent but too expensive now that we are retired. read more

We had a great experience here. We were in Connecticut briefly and came here. My hubby ordered their omelet and hash brown upon recommendation from our server Sondra and it was delicious. I enjoyed a couple of bites from it and it was really good. I had some bacon and pineapple juice. The service there is absolutely fantastic. I have been coming to the Galaxy Diner on and off since the late '80s and the food has always been delicious especially their Gyros, hamburgers (including a veggie burger) and most of all their Matzo ball soup and coleslaw - just to name a few favorites. It had been some time since I stop by the diner, but yesterday I had sometime before an appointment and decided to stop in for breakfast. While I was there I overheard a conversation that the diner was bought out (sounded like some time ago). So I got a little nervous about the quality of food I was about to order. To my surprise, the food tasted exactly the same as I remembered. I was so happy!!!! This is my number one diner if I am in the area. Excellent food and wonderful staff; several times they came to check on us and expressed their gratitude when we left. Yeah, I'd definitely come back. I meet someone in or around Trumbull for dinner on a regular basis, though this time we stepped out of our comfort zone and fearlessly waltzed into North Bridgeport... [That was facetious, relax.] Shrimp Scampi - now there's something you don't order every day at a diner. But it was served with a fresh salad to start, six big shrimp over a big pile of rice... very good without being excessively heavy, as far as such a dish can go. Grilled Cheese - Well, it's grilled cheese. But there was a lot of cheese, so you can't be mad at that! Onion Rings: so many I had leftovers to put in the toaster oven the next day. Waitress was very nice. Bill came to $37 for dinner, which is a bit more than average, but our dinner was a bit bigger than average, therefore no complaints. Galaxy is not a place far out in space, it is your typical diner with the same characteristics you find in 95% of the other diners in this part of the country. Food is good, service is decent, a place you go to have a good talk while enjoying 'easy' food. Spending time in a diner is not suppose to be complicated, but simply comfortable, and that is what Galaxy has to offer. read more
