I came to Andros for a late, late, late dinner, & let me tell you, this diner is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Even @ that crazy hour, it was still pretty busy! The diner has a cool old school vibe inside, which I really liked. They also had old school music playing in the background, which went perfectly w/ the atmosphere. The menu has sooo many different options! You could literally lose yourself looking through it. I already knew what I was craving, but it took my bf a while to decide what he wanted b/c there were so many choices. He wasn't sure what to get! We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an app to share, & they were good! They had a nice cheese pull, which I love, but they were a little overcooked. Some of the cheese had already melted out of the mozzarella sticks, but they were still tasty. For my meal, I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap w/ sweet potato fries, & it came w/ coleslaw and a pickle. The chicken in the wrap was crispy & flavorful, which I loved! The wrap itself was delish, too, but it needed more hot sauce. One half was a little dry, while the other half (it was cut in half)was perfect, which was kind of weird. And those sweet potato fries were GOOD! They came out hot & had the perfect balance of crispiness and softness. They weren't too crispy or too soft,they were just right! And let me tell you about that coleslaw... SO YUMMY! I love me some coleslaw! It tasted fresh & had the perfect amount of mayo and black pepper. Our server, Chris, was really sweet, but I do think he could've been a little more attentive. @ times, I felt like I was bothering him when I needed something. I know it was really busy, even @ that hour, so I tried to be understanding. I had to ask for utensils, & I wanted more water and hot sauce but didn't even get a chance to ask. He also forgot my lemon for my water. He was trying, though,& I appreciated his kindness. This def wasn't my 1st time visiting this diner,& it won't be my last. Stopped by this local diner for the first time. We went on a Sunday evening it was pretty empty. The staff was friendly. Prices are comparable to other diners in the area. We ordered a philly cheesesteak and a french onion soup. The food was good. The soda tasted weird, imitation brand perhaps. Food was fresh. The dining and restroom areas were very clean. I had been here a few years ago and this place was o.k. It had been closed for a while and I just revisited after their renovations have been completed. The place looks great and very clean and bright. So many yummy desserts on display. We were so glad to find this place open late as we were famished after a day of traveling. The menu is extensive. The place was packed! I got a patty melt with fries and slaw and my dining partner (who had a toothache) got scramblemed eggs and oatmeal). The food was good and came out fast. The first 3 things that comes to my mind when I think of a diner. Late nights, fast service, cheap food. This is the only diner or really any food that's open around the area past 12. I'll be honest, the service was fast. I dont think I've ever gotten food that quick before anywhere lol. Our server seemed bothered? Like, dont work at a job if its open this late if you dont wanna deal with it? Also she never asked if we wanted refills. She just came by and said "everything good"? I said yes because I didnt see my husband's water completely gone. Poor man lol. Our food was 16$ each. My husband got the blt club and i got a burger. Its 4$ extra just for fries and coleslaw which is ridiculous tbh. Especially since the fries are nothing to call home about. And my burger was literally just an overpriced whopper. Very lack luster for unnecessary high prices. This used to be a decent diner. Above average in fact. However, in recent years, something has changed. After dinner there tonight, I realize it is the management. After our waitress got 2 of the 5 orders wrong, we corrected her and asked for the correct meals. The manager came to our table and threw a fit. He acted like a drunk "Karen" and bitched at us that we ordered wrong. He then proceeded to be snarky about every thing we ordered after that, and concluded the evening by over charging us and then threw a fit when called out for it. This place has been around for quite some time. It is about what you would expect from a diner. The service is quick and the food is served rather quickly. It definitely is not gourmet but they open early and stay open late. I tend to either visit for breakfast or for a quick bite when it is late. Usually breakfast is the order for the day. As I was taking inventory and reviewing some of my staple haunts, it took me aback that I had never expressed my gratitude and goodwill towards Andros Diner. I think the reason may be that I never think of Andros as a restaurant-- it's more like a trip to Grandma's when in need of a pick me up. It's like going home. Maybe that's why Andros is my default place to eat, even over cooking at home. Because it is so engrained, ritualistically and functionally into my life. I've always had an affinity for diners but when moving to Fairfield alone, leaving behind my friends and family, it was a massive comfort to already have my relationship with the Andros staff, as the place organically has anchored me to our neighborhood. What else do you want me to say? The food is what it is. Some items excellent, some items terrible, some depend on the day of the week or the guy on the griddle but the secret ingredient to Andros' food is its availability. It is there and a safe bet. Regardless of what you order, you stand a 90% chance it'll be pretty good and a better-than-75% one that at *worst* it will be "just decent". Their coffee is shit for the birds so naturally I drink about seven or eight cups over any given meal. Adding a dessert helps and their pies, carrot cake and especially rice pudding are stand outs. And I usually am not big on NY style, crustless cheesecake but theirs is so good, I can sometimes overlook this preference. The real draw, as it should be, are the people. From the friendly and outgoing owners (great guys with not a whiff of prentention about them), the guys up front who are always extremely welcoming, to the girls waiting tables who treat you like their own son. Everyone on board holds up those walls and if only for that, they deserve some recognition. So thank you, Andros, for always being there. I've been here a number of times and it is always a reliable option. They have the best disco fries (cheese fries with gravy) I've ever had and they are consistently delicious. The French onion soup is decent - a bit oily but still tasty. My boyfriend got the Turkey melt today and he really enjoyed it. We are usually in and out within an hour, regardless of how crowded it is (which it usually is, whether it's a Sunday morning or a late evening) and today was no exception even though our waitress admitted it was her first day (she did great!). I've been a resident of Fairfield for over 40 years and recently two of my favorite restaurants in town Pizza Meteradian and now Andros Diner have really let me down with their selective customer service. The food is good and my family has always supported their business. I retired this past weekend from FedEx after 36 years of service. I think I know a little about interacting with customers. We as a family travel and work throughout the tristate area and weekends are when we get home to support our community businesses. Last Saturday I celebrated my retirement at Andros Diner with a normal good experience as I usually do. Sunday I suffered a pulmonary edema and had to be examined at the emergency room at Bridgeport hospital. On the way home we decided to call and order takeout after spending 5 hours of test by cardiologist. I was told they weren't taking orders over the phone yet when I walked in the restaurant they were on the phone taking orders. I asked the manager what is going on and why did he refuse to take our order? He turned his back on me and had his assistant step in who proceeded to completely get my order wrong and even added a drink that I didn't ask for. I asked them both why did the hospitality suddenly change in 24 hours. I told them I had a wonderful prime rib dinner on Saturday with no issues and they both said they didn't serve Prime Rib and that I was lying. I then grabbed a menu and pointed out that look here you do sell Prime Rib. Now the defensive back peddling starts and I should have just walked out but I took a breakfast that was missing items that I had paid for. I grew up in in Stamford so I'm very familiar with diversity and certain places you don't go to and spend your money because you're not welcome here. Well to the people of Andros Diner as the saying goes "If they show you who they are believe them ". You along with Pizza Meteradian will never get a good review from me again and my money will be spent somewhere else. read more

Came here for a quick breakfast and figured that they had a good rating and had been here got 40+ years. Sadly though I am not a fan. The waitress was inattentive (never asked if I needed a refill and honestly didn't even seem interested in taking my order). The food was just OK. I had an omelette that more oily than it should have been and a bit too well done. The toast too was somewhat burnt and although I ordered the home fries well done, they were more burnt and oily than well done. Oh well, you live and learn. Owner and staff are always friendly and attentive. At our recent visit, my wife enjoyed her Gyro, however I ordered the French Dip Wrap and honestly don't know what was served to me. The wrap was sopping with oil, as were the undercooked onions. And the meat was a mystery altogether. The normal sliced roast beef was replaced by chunks of dried out, overcooked, hard steak or some kind of meat product. Some pieces couldn't even be chewed. We were in a rush so my wife asked that I not complain to the very obliging waitress. Unfortunately, I paid for not speaking up with several hours of digestive issues until late into the night. I assume a combination of the excess oil and almost inedible meat were the cause. Strike one: ordered a $14 chicken caesar salad and while it was ginormous, was kinda gross. The chicken was good but the salad was limp and turning brown and the dressing was watery. Seriously, how do you F up a salad? Strike 2: ordered a pizza burger ($8.75) and a pastrami ruben ($8.75) For almost nine bucks the ruben was pretty small and unimpressive. The pizza burger however was disgusting. The whole bun was complete mush. I understand that can happen with a pizza burger, but it tasted like someone ran it under a faucet.
