I'm still not entirely sure what made them Irish, but they were excellent bar food. My son and I both ordered the fish and chips. The portions were generous, the fish was nicely battered, and everything tasted good. Kevin, the owner, came over and introduced himself during our meal. He was a genuinely nice guy, and that personal touch says a lot about the place. If I lived around here, Kevin's Corner would definitely become one of my regular spots.

We took the only two chairs available at the bar between regulars who were having a lively, humorous conversation. The bartender was blond, late 20's we guess and friendly, she didn't tell us her name. She quickly took our drink orders and asked if we would like to see the menu. I love Rueben sandwiches and travel from Trumbull to Mystic CT for the absolute best in CT. They get their corn beef from the oldest butcher in Europe (Friar Tucks). Hubby had the shepherd's pie empanadas. These are two to an order and are quite large. They come with a gravy that was delicious. The Rueben here today came with a mayonnaise based cole slaw that sadly overwhelmed the corned beef which didn't have a lot to start with. But, when I tasted the meat away from the cole slaw, it was tasty and the bartender honored my request for lean corn beef. No sauerkraut or Russian dressing as it should have on rye bread. The menu only states "corned beef Rueben" so folks that know a true Rueben have no idea. All the locals really bragged on the food so we definitely will come again to try other menu items. They offer lovely wine selections and limited beer selection. Overall, we really liked it, the bartender was friendly and welcoming. The owner was there but didn't introduce himself. Super cute locals bar. Bathrooms were well stocked, clean as was the restaurant. Come give em a try.

I ordered the mac & cheese lobster which was described as a creamy mac & cheese with lobster and truffle oil... There was not one single sign of truffle oil on this dish at all. ( the attached photo is the dish as it was delivered to us... The gentleman who took our order was busy going outside, taking care of the tables outside went by us countless times and didn't even pay mind to us-you've thought we were invisible! The other waitresses that walked by, couldn't even understand body language, maybe they did, but didn't care because it wasn't their table, but we sat there for 40 minutes and no one ever came to check on us. Never had this issue with this place before, which makes me think that it's really under new management, given how the food was, and the lack of care of the personnel. Five minutes goes by no sign of the waitress 10 minutes goes by no sign of the waitress or my container, finally I call the person who looked like she was manning the floor and checked on all other tables and how they were doing except for OURS Was there something wrong with us? We weren't dressed like bums, we sat in the corner, we didn't have extra sets of eyes, we didn't have an extra arm attached to our body, we were just regular, typical people, but she ignored us. Bill came out to $33.50 for bacon chowder, dried lobster mac & cheese, and two Ginger ales... Never again! Honestly, the way we were treated was shameful, hopefully they learn from this lesson and they do better... No one deserves this, especially with the cost of food these days.
