We went to see Harry Potter in the new DBox at the Monroe Galaxy 12 Theater. Wow, blown away! Yes, the seats are expensive. Yes, you feel a little pretentious sitting in a special section of the theater. But the experience is totally awesome! I LOVE being able to pre-determine where I'll be in the theater. For a block-buster movie like Harry Potter that's worth the extra $$ to me. And the special effects that the chairs offer are really cool. Everytime someone was flying on a broom in the movie our seats soared from left to right in sync with the action. It was a really awesome effect. I don't think I'd fish up the extra money to see every movie this way, but it's definitely the way to go for top grossing action flicks. Special tip: anyone can get the kids meal. It's $5.75 for popcorn, a soda and fruit snacks. Score! Especially after you sprinkle the jalapeno seasoning on the popcorn. My favorite movie treat, ever! read more

This is surprisingly a great theater. It's a bigger size theater and it feels up to date and is clean. They have the usual theater fare, but my wife would tell you the most important thing is they have Dippin dots (I don't get it either). They have standard and 3D showings and this is one of the only theaters around that does D-Box seats. If you've never tried the D-box I suggest trying it at least once on a good action movie. The whole seat moves around and shakes and rumbles with the action. My brothers and I always do D-box for the big summer blockbuster. If you get their card you can earn points for food and tickets and they do 6$ movies on Tuesdays. My brother lives in Monroe so I come here a lot for movies, but I still would come if he didn't because it's a good theater and doesn't get very crowded. read more

DBOX is AWESOME ... try it ... you will not be dissapointed ... i have seen a bunch of movies in dbox and always it makes the movie even better ... and makes a so-so movie good ...... the experience is ...... intense sometimes .... "inception" was mind-blowing ....... so this is the good stuff about galaxy 12 the BAD: the theater is getting trashed by patron's.... people with their feet on the seats ... how RUDE! and the staff doen't do anything about it! 2. they change the NACHO chips .... they used to be the best ,,,, and i really did not care about the high price .... since all theater food is not cheap .... but now the chips are stale and taste like dirty feet .... PLEASE change back ... i beg you!... also the hotdogs are either way old and cook to death .. or need to be micrwaved and then they get either killed or are cold ..... i want to see this movie house survive ... its nice havin a theater in monroe ... but i like to have a good "total experience" and don't mind the price to support the local economy .... read more

The only reason I'm not giving this theater 5 stars is because some of the seats -- mostly in the middle -- are becoming very uncomfortable due to overuse. Please change the cushions on these seats! Other than that, Galaxy 12 in Monroe is great and one of the best theaters if you live in Mill Creek, Snohomish, Bothell or Woodinville. It's well worth the drive. read more

This is a great theatre for those living between Snohomish and Monroe, and there's always parking available. The upside: a dozen flavored toppings for your popcorn, a seperate latte and italian soda consession stand, clean bathrooms, and comfortable chairs. The downside: You bring your own food into this place and the teenage hall monitors will chase you down and call 911. Buying junk food at a theatre is a scam, and to protect their interests the Monroe Theatre Police are out to gouge you. read more

Not only are all the rave reviews above spot-on, but they give back to the community by offering "classic" movies for $2 on most Tues or Wed nights. You have to drive by the theater to find out what they are, but as it's right near the most frequented shops in Monroe, that's not a problem. Seeing "It's a Wonderful Life" on the big screen last year was fantastic. They've also had Ghostbusters, Jaws, Tootsie... all kinds of movies. They also do cheap $2 Saturday matinees for little kids, and they do the live events like the concerts and Monday Night Football. I'm disappointed they went in for the D-Box gimmick, but it's only a couple rows in one theater. read more

My boyfriend and I went to this movie theater since we were in the area and heard wonderful things from family and friends. We went here on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't busy. Price wasn't horrible or great just typically of a movie theater. The disappointment we had was the dirtiness of the theater and how broken some of the chairs were. It seemed like no one cared about the mess: popcorn on the floor when you walk in the theater, on the floor and chairs. It seems like no one came to clean up in between showing. This movie theater is definitely neglected and has not been maintained at all. I will not be returning here for any reason. If you can and willing to travel a little bit to Everett or Marysville to watch a movie I would say do it. read more

Love this place! Every screen is DLP digital, as has been stated already by pretty much everyone. And if you haven't experienced the wonderfulness that is DLP, it is AWESOME. It's pretty nice to watch a new movie without all of the black flecks and fuzziness that can come with traditional film. Chairs are ultra-comfy, parking is never a problem, and the concessions are pretty good (wide-variety, at least) from what I can ascertain (I'm a bit too cheap for any concessions anywhere.) And very rarely have I seen this place crowded! Not surprising given its location, I guess. I've seen popular movies on a Friday night with as few as 2 or 3 other groups in the house. This kind of worries me because I'd hate to see the place go out of business, but the lack of people is a nice change. As for the previous review about the staff chasing out those who've brought in outside food and drink, I've never had a problem with this, and I sneak food in every time I'm here. But I am pretty sneaky. Guess that dude just needs a bigger purse ;) Only downfall is that they don't offer student prices. read more

Although my family and I like coming to this theater because it's so conveniently close, it really lacks in staff. Almost every time we visit there is only one person in concessions with a line of guests. One time there was literally no one back there and the person taking tickets finally stepped behind the counter to help us. They do have a good selections of food and drinks which sort of makes up for this. read more

There were four bright blue dots on the movie screen throughout the entire movie. These dots were very distracting and greatly detracted from the movie. I informed the manager after the movie and her response was that they knew about it and were trying to get it fixed. No apology. It is unacceptable that the theatre would continue to show movies on this screen while such an obvious problem exists with the projection. At the very least they should have informed customers that there was a problem with this screen so that we could have chosen a different movie to see. And then to not even apologize when the issue was brought up is unacceptable. This is not the first projection issue I have had at this theatre. At another movie at this theater the curtains did not open all the way so the movie was projected on to the uneven surface of the curtain on both edges of the image, approximately 5% of the image. I can no longer support a theatre like this that does not care about the image quality of their movies. read more

I like this movie theater alot. There is always plenty of parking, and the prices are what you would expect. They do have Dbox and some other extra features that other theaters don't always have but I've never actually tried them. For the longest time I just assumed that this theater was kind of dumpy, the sign out front with the movies on it looks a little worn down. But I was totally wrong. Inside its spotless, and up to date. The seats are comfy, they recline a bit, the arm rests fold up, and you have more leg room that alot of theaters. The concessions are nice because when you order a large popcorn you actually get a large popcorn, not some wimpy little bag. A nice full bucket. At least I don't totally feel ripped off when I buy popcorn. They also have different seasoning shakers for you which is cool if you're into that. The bathrooms are easily accessabile right when you walk in, not up some stairs or in a far corner which is nice. They have plenty of stalls and I've never seen them more than 1/2 full. I feel like if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie I could make a really quick trip out of it and not miss too much. If you come here on a weeknight you're basically guarenteed to have a peaceful/unbothered movie experience which is really great. No complaints here. read more

Chairs are broken and have been forever. Always "out " of things that need to be prepared in the kitchen area. We've been 4 times in the last month and only once would they get us pretzels but not without eye rolls. There's never anyone to check you in if you bought your tickets online. we asked them at the window why one of the 4 of them standing around in the booth couldn't check in those of us that bought tickets online and they said very nastily that they didn't have enough help? I think we will be going to Lynwood from now on. read more

Galaxy 12 gets a star because the seats are moderately comfortable and it has staium seating. These are about the only positive things I can say about this wretched place. I've seen three or four movies here, which I think is a large enough sample base from which to evaluate the business. The concessions are outrageously overpriced, which is to be expected. But I think this place is a bit beyond the pale ($5 for water? Damm!). I prefer to watch movies in a darkened auditorium when I go to a theater. Galaxy 12 is not dark, ever. The ceiling lights go out and the sconces are dimmed a bit prior the the start of the film, but they never turn off. FFS, why?! If they were red lights, that would be better as your eyes would not contract and it would be less distracting and folks would still be able to see. What mouth-breather runs this place? Has he/she seen a movie here? The (thankfully red) exit signs are quite bright. Again, why? Must they be quite bright in a somewhat darkened auditorium? Isn't that why the lights are dimmed, to let they eyes dilate and, thus, need less light to percieve things? If they're going to dim the lights, dim ALL the lights, numbnuts. The railing for the handicapped seating is painted with a semi-gloss paint, so reflects the light from the screen. Genius! "Let's paint something so that it flashes or gets bright every time the screen flashes or gets bright." Just as you would (presumably) not want some jerk playing with a toy light saber along with the film, you would not want to sit behind the handicapped seating. (To say nothing of the poor folks seated there who would have this reflective light source next to their seats.) Simply another demonstration that whomever is in charge of this place either has no standards, has no thoughts, or (more likely) has no effs to give about the paying audience. When I watch films, I like to hear the film. What I do NOT want to hear, especially during a quieter part of the film, is squeaking seats. FFS! I acknowledge that it would be expensive (labor time) to test each and every seat monthly. However, that would make a far, far better viewing experience for the entire audience. (It seems, though, that the audiences at Galaxy 12 are simply cash sources and not worthy of any futher consideration.) They show the notifications to turn off your phone soas not to fcuk-up the experience for everybody, but then let the auditorium fall into such disrepair that the effect is similar. Seems hypocritical, but that's not surprising. The Galaxy 12 has disappointed me to much to ever return. read more

The theater has D-BOX and digital, but the individalual theaters have lots of broken seats and some of them have large stains on the screens. Fried food is sold but more often than not the equipment is broken. It is clear that the management has little concern about the experience if their patrons. Such a shame as in years past, it was one of the better theaters in the region. read more

We purchased D box tickets more than a month in advance, upon arrival 20 minutes early, our seats were taken, the people would not move and the staff didn't do anything to rectify the situation. This was a gift for my son for his birthday, his wife had surprised him with the tickets for an experience we had never had.. Highly disappointed.. There was NO management on the premises, this was the first showing of the day and the theater was filthy, bathrooms were filthy.. the staff was nice enough, but really NO help.. Great theater for Monroe area. Plentiful parking as well. My only gripe is concession prices but it's the same as any theater nowadays. $20 for 2 sodas and a popcorn which costs them less than $2. I know that theaters make very little $ from movie sales and this is how they can pay their employees but it's just not logical for me to shell out $50 for my wife and I to see a movie if I have to purchase soda/popcorn. They do a great job with cleanliness and are helpful. Join their members rewards plan for freebies. read more

This place is APPALLINGLY awful. I've been there a few times. Stains on the carpet, bathrooms smell like pineapple, and the screens are terrible. There is some guy who smells awful, I think his name is Sylin? Stylo? Big guy who works bar was cool. The soft drinks syrup was all out and the popcorn was STALE!!!!! 0 Stars, DO NOT GO HERE! We went to see a fathom events show on 10/15/19, the staff was friendly and the theater seemed outdated but acceptable. The problems started when we entered theater 9. The speakers were painfully loud and they were cutting in and out, which only made the jarring horrible jazz even worse. After talking to an employee and enduring 10 more minutes of musical hell, they were turned down. The manager came into the theater about 15 minutes after the show was supposed to have started and said there was a problem with the download and they were waiting for them to resend it, and that it would be another 20 minutes before they could start the show. The horrible elevator music came to an end, and the picture finally started, only with no sound. After complaining to the assistant manager I returned to find they had fixed the sound problem, but this led to a worse issue. They were playing the wrong movie, but since on Thursday it was supposed to be a double feature with this movie and then the reboot, I figured they just decided to do the double feature on Tuesday also. I was wrong as another movie-goer came back to say they only had the old movie and the new one wasn't going to be shown tonight. This was the last straw and everyone in the theater marched to the front box office for refunds. This process was incredibly painful as the staff tried to reverse the charges for the ticket and was unsuccessful. After trying for over 20 minutes and failing, they just gave us a cash refund, but they didn't refund the $5.25 booking charge. So at the end of the day I'm out some money, some time, and have a sour taste in my mouth. I will not be back here. Please avoid this theater if have other options. read more

Great theater. It's almost never busy like the major cities and usually has a good selection of films. The theater features a few 3D titles, DBox seating in select theaters and a decent members program. The members program gets you points to redeem for free concessions, tickets and other freebies as you spend points at the theater. It also gains you access to $6 Tuesday movies. It's about time for the theater to get a bit of a clean up and an upgrade, but as small town theaters go, the Galaxy 12 is a great theater. If there weren't a new crop of 5 star venues within 20 minutes of here, the Galaxy 12 would be a 5 star experience. Since there are, it gets a 4. Make sure to try out the latte bar and the flavored popcorn salts at the end of the concession stand. read more

This is one of our favorite theaters. They are one of the only (if not the only) theater in the Seattle area to have DLP projectors. That equals way better picture. Their popcorn is tasty and they have free seasoning to add ot it. Yummy! The theater (including the bathrooms) are always clean. Lots of stalls in the women's bathroom too. They employees are always really friendly as well. read more

We really enjoy this theater. Comfortable seats, and the projection and sound have always been spot on. We've been to theaters in most of the Seattle area, and outside of The Cinerama, this is our favorite place to go. It's also a great place for a birthday party. The kids get a movie ticket, a hot dog, popcorn, and a drink. After the movie the staff gives you a tour of the projection area, and then you get time in a private room for cake. read more

This place does have a nice sound system. We've been here a few times. This theater is one of the worst ones I've been to. I don't know if the staff cleans here, but every time we've been here it's filthy. Most theatres clean each movie room between movie start times. I'm afraid this is not so with this theater. Every time we come here, there is trash on the floors, leftover food on the floors and empty cups in the cup holders. We were watching a movie and it had about an hour left, when one of the people I was with heard a squeaking behind her, thinking it was the chair, she just brushed it off. It continued and she tried to make the chair squeak, it wasn't the chair, so I got out my flashlight and there was a mouse. We immediately left. We told one of the employees and they said, "a mouse? Yeah right." Rude staff and a filthy theater. Not a good experience. read more

The theater is close to my work and house. I like to see the movie after work. Service is good and the theatre are not too bad.

I usually love this theatre, so normally a 5 is in tow. But while watching the double feature for Hunger Games: Catching Fire, they cramped everyone into the smallest screen with the d-box (screen 12). The people for d-box weren't even there for the showing of Hunger Games (of course they where their for Catching Fire.) Where most of the late comers go to the way front, including myself who had considered it would have been on a bigger screen because this was a major movie of the year. This concludes to a night of watching with my neck cranked up to look at the screen (which induces a headache for myself and most others.) Over all, they could of done a better management for the double feature and placed everyone (including myself and my sister) in a bigger auditorium that had more seating. D-box takes up 22 spaces, and those 22 spaces could of been filled easily enough if it was in a different auditorium, very much with how they did the Thor marathon. After this experience I may not go to another double feature. I miss the exciting midnight showings, but with those days came with cheaper prices in food. On a plus note, I do enjoy the 5 dollar Tuesdays. read more
