Listen. What a wild place. We were in town on a mini vacation and this place BLEW ME AWAY... for…read moresome reasons you could expect. And others you wouldn't. Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

Today we had the best Cracker Barrel experience ever at the Cave City, KY location…read more Quick backstory: today was the big ice/snow storm sweeping across the U.S. Our family was vacationing in Florida when our flights were canceled, and the airline offered zero real help. So we made the tough call to drive from Florida to Chicago -- a 16-hour journey. As we headed north, the weather kept getting worse. After about 8 hours, we decided to stop and rest, hoping the roads would improve the next day. They didn't. Instead, we were met with glistening ice-covered forests and roads that looked like they were made for ice skating. Nearly everything was closed -- McDonald's, restaurants, even gas stations (thank goodness for Buc-ee's). Then, like a miracle, we found Cracker Barrel open for business. From the moment we walked in, the hostesses greeted us with warm smiles and seated us by the fireplace. Every single person we interacted with showed true Southern hospitality and genuine kindness. It felt less like stopping at a restaurant and more like being welcomed in from the storm. The food was exactly what you'd expect -- consistently amazing -- but the service is what truly stood out. In the middle of a stressful, exhausting journey, this place gave us comfort, warmth, and a much-needed sense of care. If you're ever near this location, expect great food -- but more importantly, know that you'll be in very good hands. Sincerely, Your friends from Chicago!

Someone decided to pay for our meal. That was a very sweet gesture. The waitress states that every now and then someone does that. That made my friend tear up a little bit. Nice to know that there are still nice folks in this world.

With Google's help, I discovered T's Country Market and Deli in Glasgow, KY. T's looks like it was once a gas station and general store that has been converted into a local eatery. I ordered a Bacon cheeseburger deluxe with onions, lettuce, American cheese, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. The veggies were fresh and thick cut on a soft bun out of a bag, with a proper amount of ketchup and mustard. The burger was thick, maybe 1/3 lb.; it was juicy in the middle but a little dry outside. The burger was a little plain and needed some seasoning but the cheese and bacon added a salty flavor. The bacon was chewy with a little crunch. I am a Chuck Wagon fan, so I had one of those too. It is served plain on a bun. The bun was fresh from a bag; the chuck wagon had a thin batter and was crunchy with some salt. It was probably frozen, but it cooked up nicely. Pro tip, I like mine with Cole slaw and ketchup. The coleslaw was cut up very fine and relatively sweet, but very soupy with a lot of liquid. Once added to the chuck wagon, it made for a great bite, with the ketchup cutting through the sweetness. My fiancé had the Grilled Cheese and Tater Tots. The tots are out of a bag but fried to a crunchy golden brown and seasoned well. The sandwich had American cheese and needed just a little longer on the flat top. It was slightly soft in places but they did use butter with excellent salt content. T's is a small roadside joint that offers burgers, sandwiches, plate lunches, and breakfast. The staff was super friendly, and the food came out quickly. The Fat Man says T's Country Market and Deli is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.
