We've seen Cracker Barrel stores around but have never been in so we were quite confused when we walked through the door and it was a shop instead of a restaurant! Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - ordered Grilled Catfish and Country Fried Steak. We were debating between the grilled and fried and the waitress recommended the grilled and it was AMAZING! It was so tender, light, and flaky with just with a touch of citrus. The country fried steak was fried well with a delicious gravy to smother it with. While the mains were on the saltier side, the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes where on the milder side so it went perfectly. We never had fried apples before so decided to get it as a side and it was delicious! Service: 5/5 - they assume everyone has been in the store before and knows where to order and where to pay. However, everyone we talked to was extremely friendly and helpful once they realize it's our first time! Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go so we didn't step into the restaurant itself. The store was quite varied in the items they carried but it was fun to browse while waiting for our food. Value for price: 5/5 - delicious food, reasonable price, friendly service. Would absolutely visit again!

Diner Character Founded in 1969, Cracker Barrel is a unique diner and a gift shop experience that now sports over 660 locations in 45 states. Cracker Barrel specializes in American comfort foods and has always had a pretty decent breakfast in my experience. We popped into this Cave City location after a long, hot day at nearby Mammoth Cave National Park. The Good: *The prices are downright ridiculously inexpensive, but we're from Cali, so take that with a grain of salt. *Our waitress, Morgan, was excellent. Friendly, fast, and checked on us just enough without being obnoxious. *Complimentary biscuits were fire. Make sure to get their house apple butter for a nominal 50¢ surcharge. *Fried Chicken dinner was delightfully crispy and cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that the batter could've used more flavor, but overall, it was very not bad. *Turnip greens were fire and about as good as I've had at any southern restaurant. The Meh: *Gift shop is a little hokey, but it's part of the charm. The Ugly: *I wasn't a fan of the hasbrown casserole, as it was a stodgy, flavorless mess. TLDR: Tasty American eats at a great value and terrific service.

We had the chicken fried chicken and the sausage egg hash brown casserole with saw mill gravy!! It was cooked well and fresh.

Overall i thought the catfish wasn't that good and the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were a little hard

This is the main place to eat in Cave City. We headed there for dinner, looking for something lighter to eat. There were only 2 salads on the menu, neither of which sounded good at that time so I opted for the veggie soup and a baked potato. The soup was good and relatively full of veggies. It also came with 2 saltines. The potato was a good size but ice cold. Husband had the loaded potato and also cold. We kindly asked our waitress to warm them up for us and they came back steaming hot and much better tasting. The staff was all masked. They bussed tables immediately and the restaurant was clean. Our waitress was good and we appreciated her hospitality.

The space is definitely on the smaller side, which adds to the intimate feel, but I can only imagine it gets pretty tight during peak hours--especially since they don't take reservations. That said, everything else more than makes up for it. The service was genuinely excellent--attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. And the food? Absolutely worth it. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. If you're thinking about going, I'd definitely recommend timing your visit to avoid the rush. It's a small spot, but one that delivers a big experience.

The menu is extensive so it took a minute for us to order. Everyone had water to drink. Our server brought us some fresh yeast rolls that were hot and tasty. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer for the table. They were excellent served with sour cream and horseradish and ranch that we had to ask for additionally. Everyone ordered something different. Orders included: 1. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. I only tried their cole slaw which leans more to a vinegar base and I prefer a sweeter slaw. There were 4 pieces of chicken. 2. Meatloaf with mashed potato and gravy and cornbread. Cornbread was a bit dry, meatloaf was ok. 3. Mushroom and bacon smothered chicken, onion rings and cornbread. Person said the chicken was a bit dry, the mushrooms and bacon saved the dish. Onion rings were good, crispy and hot. 4. Chicken and dumplings with cornbread. Folks that tasted them said they make better at home, nothing special. 5. Rueben sandwich with corn pudding. Sandwich was just ok. Bread was too thick for my taste, beef was tender. Corn pudding was excellent, hot, creamy. Service was good, resturant quaint, street parking. The train rolling by, blowing the whistle while we ate was a nice touch, although it rattled the building. After we ate, got to go containers and paid we shopped at the adjacent and across the street shops to the resturant. That was fun. After shopping we headed back to the restaurant for coffee and dessert. Again each of us had a different dessert item which included: coconut cream pie, butterscotch pie, derby pie, chocolate sundae cake and the house specially, butter cream pie. All were pretty good. We all liked the house speciality pie, it was super sweet, creamy with a good crust. Coconut pie was a favorite as was the chocolate sundae cake. The derby pie was way too chocolatey for most of us. It is a cute little little resturant with a homey feel that will take you back in time. One of those places where you should try but then say, did that, don't necessarily need to revisit.

It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. My son and I both wanted to try the brisket so he got the platter and I chose the sandwich. I was told they make most of the sides that aren't fried options such as tater tots, which I was happy about. They had the classic barbecue sauce on the table as well as a spicy option. Both were equally delicious. My sandwich came on Texas toast, which is a fave. The portions were a great value as they do not skimp! The fried potatoes are made in house and they were delicious. Even though they don't make the onion rings in house they were also quite good. My one disappointment was, they don't make the majority of their desserts. And the menu states that their daughter-in-law Kayle makes different desserts daily and they didn't have that. They were actually out of several desserts, which was disappointing. Since the only ones they had were not ones made in house I chose to not get one. Since we live 3 1/2 hours away I guess I'll have to give it another shot for the dessert option next time around. Overall, the place was terrific and the folks were friendly. They have a salad bar in the middle of the floor, which is a nice touch. They have a very laid-back atmosphere and it is definitely family friendly. And you definitely get good size portions for the money.

Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

We stopped in here by chance, we had seen reviews in Kentucky Living and thought we would give it a try. From the moment the plate arrives, it's clear this is not just breakfast--it's heritage served hot. The county ham is the undeniable star: salt-cured, deeply flavorful, and expertly cooked so that each bite balances its robust savoriness with just enough tenderness. This is authentic Kentucky country ham--bold, unapologetic, and rich with tradition--prepared the way it should be, not watered down for convenience but honored for its character. Paired alongside are perfectly cooked eggs, done to order with a care that speaks volumes. Whether you prefer them fried with golden, lacy edges or softly scrambled, they provide the ideal counterpoint to the ham's intensity--creamy, fresh, and comforting. Together, the combination is simple, honest, and profoundly satisfying, the kind of meal that reminds you why classic breakfasts endure. What elevates The Lighthouse beyond just good food is the sense of place it delivers. This is a restaurant that understands its roots and proudly serves the flavors of the region without pretense. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the kind where locals linger over coffee and visitors immediately feel at home. Every bite of that county ham feels like a quiet nod to generations of Kentucky kitchens that perfected it long before it became a menu item. In a world of overcomplicated brunches, The Lighthouse stands tall by doing one thing exceptionally well: serving real food, made right. If you're in Edmonton, missing the county ham and eggs here would be nothing short of a culinary oversight. you are looking for comfort food this is the place to eat.
