The location is very Instagram friendly. A huge bonus in my book. When we visited, the staffs were very friendly but not very knowledgeable. We bought a shoe that was shown $70 on the tag, but rung up $80. We tried to do a return repurchase to get the correct price but it took 10+ minutes to get it resolved. They don't price match their own online website so that's a bit off. Overall, we got the refund a few days later and everything was resolved. They definitely have a cool set up with an immersive experience. When you come in you're able to wave your arms (or other parts of your body), and the immersive experience happens! Inside the shoes are almost like a secondary part of the story. The walls are filled with different things and in the back there are plants etc that make you feel very welcome! The shoes are made of recycled plastic and very comfortable but I just couldn't bring myself to buy a pair! They are so stylish -thank you to Jason Wu and Melissa collaboration!Everything here was set up like an art gallery! I know they change the inside a lot so I look forward to the next one! Have been here twice now. Very cool SoHo location for a Brazilian shoe company. My daughter LOVES their shoes, all made from recycled plastic - super stylish "jellies", but in many different styles. Only big problem - one of the pairs of shoes we got (and they are not cheap) broke almost immediately and when we contacted the company's customer service they said shoes bought at retail store cannot be exchanged online, only at the store. We live in Denver and the store is in NY so we now have to wait until the next time we are in NY to return them - if they even will take them back. We have also repeatedly tried calling the NY store and they never answer the phone. They would get five stars if not for this customer service problem. read more

Would definitely recommend popping into this store if you're in the area. They have an installation room called Paraiso by Natalia Stuyk right now which was really beautiful. It holds 5 people at a time and most people spend probably around 10-15 minutes in the room. The room is filled with mirrors and hanging star-like shapes of many different colors. I've gone twice and it wasn't packed either time including when I went on a Saturday afternoon. I'm honestly surprised in a big tourist area there aren't more people in the room since it's a great Instagram photo opportunity. Maybe people don't know the exhibit is in the store since there are no signs advertising it. Definitely worth a visit if in the area! read more

I came here on a Monday afternoon. Cute concept store. Definitely limited styles compared to their website. If you like what you see, but haven't visited their website yet. Do it! You'll find many more styles. I understand the importance of having a physical presence, especially in an area like SOHO. It's great for exposure. But I would definitely prefer to purchase from the website. They had a cute installation room up called Paraiso by Natalia Stuyk. A small room filled with sharp-edged iridescent shapes hanging and reflecting light. A beautiful room. The store was nicely designed and organized. A small space, but not overly filled. read more

Great store, concept and service. Good flats are tough to come by in this city. These shoes are made of recycled plastic, will forever smell like bubblegum, and are extremely comfortable. I came for the sale a month ago, where everything was 50 percent off, so I bought two pairs. Melissa finally opened their NYC flagship last month with surprisingly little fanfare. There were a few magazine write-ups discussing the interior design, but that was about it. When I got back to the city over a month later, it was one of the first things on my to-do list and I could hardly find the address online. So, if you don't know what this Brazilian shoe brand is all about, Melissa is known for it's grown up version of the plastic-looking shoes you had as a kid. Up until now, there were about a dozen stores around the city that stocked a few styles at a time, but never a place where you could find the whole season all at once (except Epaulet which has since stopped carrying any Melissa shoes at all). And since I am a Melissa fangirl, this has always been super tragic for me. I had really high hopes for this flagship store. The best styles generally aren't released in the US, and this would be an easy way to transition into bringing lots and lots of styles in and seeing what sells in this market. Unfortunately, what is available at the store is pretty much what every local and online retailer has already. Sure, it's great to be able to try them on in person, but I could name 3 or 4 stores in the city where you could have done that already. The store itself is gorgeous, that's for sure-- shoes are displayed on glossy pedestals instead of wall shelves, and the whole place is very open, giving it the feeling of a SoHo art space. However, the people that work here left a really sour taste in my mouth. I came in on a beautiful weekday afternoon, and even as the only customer in the whole place, I didn't get a hello or a smile. The space has the tendency to turn cold pretty quickly (white walls, high ceilings) and that was exactly what happened. When one of the girls finally realized that I was actually going to buy something, she feigned interest only long enough for me to take out my credit card. I immediately wished I'd waited to order online. I love this brand and will continue to wear them until Asos and Amazon stop sending them to me. But I don't think I'll be stopping in down here again. If you just want to check out what Melissa is all about and try on a few pairs, it's definitely worth the short walk from Broadway, but if you're looking for a happy shoe shopping experience, try Kaight or Alter. read more

Love the store setup and the woman who assisted me was incredibly smart. She brought me different styles that I loved, and different color variations that I didn't even see on the floor. And just as I was debating between one pair vs. two, she said she'd give me 20% off for both - so of course, I was sold! ...happily left with two pairs that I love. read more

My husband and I were wandering around in SOHO before going to a concert uptown and I saw the melissa sign. I already own a couple pair of the flats, which I love! I had no idea what to expect, but wow, what a beautiful store. The shoes are showcased like an art gallery. I didn't know they made shoes for kids. I was so tempted to buy a pair for my daughter, but she already had a ton of shoes for the summer. I was torn between sandals and boots, colors, and sizes. The sales representative helping me was so patient and so helpful. She brought everything out for me to try on. I ended up getting silver Gareth Pugh sandals (The style is posted in the photos). I wanted the black ones, but they didn't have my size. I hope the company will make the Riding Special boots for wide calves. I wanted to buy the sandals and boots, but maybe next time. I honestly came in here for the cool decoration display in the store which is created by SOFTlab. Apparently they change displays every few months so it'll be interesting to see what pops up next! Nice store, great shoes, friendly salespeople. I made a point to come here on my trip to New York and I am very happy with my new shoes! Sizing does vary a little bit from style to style so it was nice to be able to try the shoes on in person. The only thing that I found kind of strange is that even with the ample display space in the store, they don't put out all the available colors for each style, so the salesperson would have to tell me, oh, this is also available in gold and silver and blue and green and maroon and so on. It would have been nice to see it all out there on display; I may have ended up buying more than I did. However, once the associate saw the styles I was interested in, she did a good job bringing out other possibilities for me to try on. In addition to two pairs that I had already seen online, I got two more pairs that I would never have bought online, but are truly beautiful in person. I wish there was a store in Seattle! ps- For those who don't know melissa shoes, they are made of plastic, but don't necessarily look like it; like artsy jelly shoes. Don't buy from this organization. We bought on-line for two shoes. They sent us the wrong shoes. Then, when we returned the shoes with us paying shipping out-of-pocket. Then they sent us the wrong shoes again. When we called the customer service and they agreed to refund the shipping cost, they later refused to honer that promise and not giving us our full refund. We are still not getting our money back and is planning to contact the attorney general's office for assistance. read more
