I'm old-fashioned... when I went to buy a new pair of sneakers I'd try them on, walk a few steps to gauge how they felt, and - of course - look at one of those ground-level mirrors to see how they looked. When you come to a place that's all about running/racing? Customers are literally running short sprints down the lanes and even my own kid started to do some pretty serious warm-up exercises - high kicks, jumping, quick bursts to the walls. It was very weird to me but no one else seemed to give a hoot. Anyway... Parking wasn't an issue (always a plus for a Jersey guy driving in NYC). The staff were welcoming and helpful. (Especially the lady that had to endure my endless questions and concerns.) Everything's entirely too expensive but I blame that on the sport and not the store (so much). He was patient as I tried on every pair, slipping off insoles to insert my custom orthopedics for an accurate fit. Walked in middle of the day on a Sunday to try on some new shoes after doing a few hours of research. When I arrived a nice lady at the front let me know I'd have to wait to see someone to try on shoes. I ended up waiting 15 minutes before someone was able to see me with no one else in front of me. The man that came over then just immediately asked what shoes do I want to try on. I mentioned that I really liked the Triumph 21s and was looking for a better replacement since the newer versions all had too much cushion for me. He then started to get aggressive when I told him 3 shoes I was interested in for no reason and was getting upset that I didn't know the exact names off the top of my head and had to pull my phone out to check. He then said alright if you don't need my help then just tell me what you want after I told him I wasn't interested in trying on the new Triumph shoes that came out. I told him no... I wanted his input just not those shoes as they have a ton of cushion. He then got me two pairs of shoes, dropped them off, and then left to see other customers without checking in on me after that. I had to wave down another staff member to ask what other colorways were available. I then saw this same worker getting upset at a fellow colleague for helping another customer out that was asking for assistance. He was upset and didn't say why and just walked away pissed off again. I didn't want to give this place my business after seeing how this employee treated me and other members of the staff so I left and bought my shoes elsewhere. This is store is a great place to try on running shoes but apparently just SUPER hit or miss on who gets assigned to help you out. 2 stars for the nice woman and letting me try on at least some of the shoes I was interested in. read more

One of the WORST experiences in customer service I have had in a retail store. I came prepared to buy several pairs of shoes. When I walked in, no acknowledgement at all. There was only one salesman on the floor talking with a young female customer. I approached him to ask where a certain brand of shoes was and he pointed but then went back to the young woman. No matter how long I waited he just continued to talk and flirt with her. Finally I asked the only other employer in the store - a young man behind the cash register - if he could help. He spent less than 30 seconds with me and then went to chat with HIS friend in the back of the store. CLearly this store does not care about selling shoes. Rude, insulting. Have had great experiences looking for walking/running shoes with FleetFeet, so I brought my boyfriend to try on some shoes, and we happened to be in the Union Square area. We were with friends, and they decided d to also do the feet test, get measured, and try on shoes. It turns out their shoes were really poor for support, and they came out also with recommendations that they were excited to explore. The staff were super nice and able to accommodate our small group, and we were able to get measured immediately when we came in. My only small complaint was the machine for measuring how the foot lands during a walk was fairly insensitive, so everyone was stomping around for that portion of the test. I ended up buying a pair of shoes they recommended for my boyfriend, so it was a great trip overall! read more

I work 7 days a week and live an hour away from any location so for my birthday I got a day off and went to spoil myself and visit the store because I've been wanting to do the scan and get the full experience to only be rushed into a pair of sneakers and then get home from the store and the woman had sold me the wrong size of the shoe. I then had to go back to the store the same day because that was my only day off and they only take in store returns and the only locations are in NYC. Only got an apology and they couldn't even reimburse my birthday $10 coupon. Not even about the money I'm just really disappointed in the whole situation. Walked around the store for 10 minutes and not a single sales associate even acknowledged I was there, let alone approached me/asked if I needed assistance (I was by the shoe wall which clearly you need help with). There was one other person in the store when I walked in - it appeared the rest of the staff was too busy chatting with each other behind the cash register. I visited this location to buy some new (and long overdue) running shoes for the spring 21 running season. Since the place where I normally purchase my running shoes has been closed for the past 4+ months because of the pandemic, I decided to give JackRabbit a try. Also, this location was pretty close to the place where I was meeting a friend for happy hour. Since I have wide feet, compared to other runners, I go into the task of buying shoes knowing that I will have very limited options. That said, the salesperson definitely took on the challenge to explore all possibilities of shoes that would accommodate my wide feet. Unfortunately, JackRabbit did not have any New Balance shoes (my typical go-to running brand) that would fit my feet, but the location did have about three options. While there were only three options, the salesperson offered to double-check the stockroom just to see if he missed anything that would work. I settled on a pair of Brooks, which have been great so far. Honestly, in the case of my feet, beggers cannot be choosers. After reading other reviews, I am a bit surprised that I was not offered gait analysis before settling on a shoe. Perhaps, the salesperson did not make that offer because I was a bit specific in the type of shoe that "works" for my running needs. Unlike another JackRabbit location (that will remain unnamed), this location accepted the 10% off Yelp check-in coupon. read more

Fleet Feet carries most major running sneaker brands to smaller ones. the staff are helpful, while all of them might not be runners...they do try to guide you to sneakers that are comfortable for your run needs -- whether your casual or a distance runner...there definitely is no sales pressure etc. when they recommend sneakers. the store also sells a limited amount of running gear like trailrunning bags, clothes, etc. -- selection is limited bc the focus is on the shoes, man. will say the prices are fairly high but competitive. there is a rewards program when you spend over certain amount like over $150 purchases get you $15 back on future purchases. anyway whether you're want sneakers for atheleisure or athletic pursuits-- you can't put a price on getting sneakers that fit properly and feel right as you can't do that on a website or an app yet... read more

This is the third week in a row that I found myself at a Fleet Feet store! I guess I make a different reason/excuse to go every time?? They were quick with a return I had to make, making the process swift and painless. I also came with a friend, who got her feet analyzed by their 3D scan and both of us were trying on shoes together. It was a great experience! There was a super sweet sales associate (I'm bad with names unfortunately) who sold a pair of NB sneakers to my friend! She also demonstrated different lacing techniques to help secure the sneakers. Very patient and kind, and went beyond in making sure that both of us were attended to with our different goals. Me, for finding race suitable half marathon shoes- which in the end I decided to do more research-and her to find shoes that were good for transitional between walking/running. I just know I'll visiting soon because I have merchandise credit... and I feel like every time I go, they really make you feel heard to problem solve without just trying to push you to buy products. I don't often go to buy items in stores because they usually run too pushy like cars salesman, but not Fleet Feet. So far I've had a wonderful experience with them. Also I learned this time that even if they don't have the colors of the shoe you like in the store, you can order it online from their tablet on the spot, if you ask their sales associate! Jackrabbit is my go-to store for running shoes. I recently came here on a weeknight and the store was pretty much empty. I asked for a gait analysis and the guy working there was incredibly helpful. For the gait analysis, he gave me a pair of test sneakers and then had me run on the treadmill while recording my gait on his ipad. He then played it back in slow motion for me to show where I strike on my foot and how I pronate. From there, he recommended a couple pairs of sneakers to try on and explained the mechanics of a stability shoe. I also asked about insoles and he had a thing to stand on that measured my arch height. Overall great experience. Other than shoes, I've also come here to buy energy gels. When there's a nutrition sale you can get a bunch of gel flavors/brands to try. Compared with a recent experience at another Jackrabbit location in Columbus Circle where the employee told me "the best shoe is the most comfortable one", my visit to the Union Square location was much more fruitful. So, I guess mileage really varies between location and whoever is helping you. The 30 day return policy for shoes and 60 days for insoles is pretty generous. They reasonably expect that you'll go for a test run in your shoes so you just have to make sure the shoes are returned in sellable condition. read more

Such a pleasant and fulfilling experience! Genesis at this location was so personable and knowledgeable. Seriously 10/10 experience. I went in with a significantly higher budget than I ended up spending which speaks volumes about how much they care rather than how much they try to sell. I was presented with several options and add-on's as well as given really helpful tips. I learned so much and the free foot analysis thing was the cherry on top. Jack Rabbit in Union Square is my least favorite Jack Rabbit Store. By the nature of the location I don't get the neighborhood shoe store vibe that I get uptown. I visit to check out the latest Nike Zoom. The employees are always busy depending on the time of day. It's down the street from many other shoe stores along 14th Street. The first time I walked into this store I was wondering where the Nikes were. They had some but only running shoes. I left and came back a few weeks later. I tried some Hokas on. They are amazing. I realized late in the game that they were somewhat tight in the toe area. Not to worry, they have an amazing exchange policy. They swapped them out for a new pair. For comfort they will exchange a pair of sneakers and try to find you something that is comfortable. I love shopping for running shoes at JackRabbit. Their sales associates are so knowledgeable. I stopped by a few days ago and was helped by Tyshae. She evaluated my running gait on a treadmill and proceeded to walk me through several different models of Hoka's. She shared the pros and cons of each model. She also shared a couple of models of inserts that I hadn't considered before. I would recommend everyone start and end their journey of buying running shoes at JackRabbit. Getting help is a mess. I've tried to visit multiple times with the same result -- most recently yesterday. I tried to check in at the front desk to find out how to get help and if I needed to join a waitlist list. I was brushed off by the front desk sales clerk. I sat down and waited to find another available staff member. One person caught my eye and said I'll be right with you, but then disappeared. I waited for 10 minutes. Another associate came up and kindly asked if I was being helped. When I said no, they asked if I'd put my name on the list, and said the wait was about 25 minutes (they were apologetic). I left. There is no clear signage that you need to sign up for any wait list, and it seems like the staff is too strapped to be attentive or prompt. Besides the front desk, the staff did seem kind, though. I feel bad for the staff because it's not their fault -- there should be a kiosk to check in if that's an expectation. read more

After visiting the Upper West Side store and having a very favorable impression of JackRabbit (see my review of UWS store), I came in to this location (closer to home) to make my purchase. Now, to be fair, it seems like the person helping you makes or breaks the experience, and also it was very busy. The person who helped me, whom I will leave unnamed, didn't seem that interested in actually helping me from a running perspective. He measured my foot wrong, was unaware of the lacing tips that the UWS salesperson had taught me, and when I said I would purchase the shoes, he said, "cool" and disappeared. I felt like I would be just as well off going to a DSW or Payless (not a knock, just not a specialty running store). So, maybe you will find the right salesperson at the right time, but I was blown away by the difference in experience between JackRabbit locations. When I was there it was not busy at all. It is a fully stocked spacious store which was very clean and organized. I was greeted by someone when I first walked in which was a good start. I normally don't need any help when I go to a store but would like someone available if I had some questions about any of their products. The staff was very friendly and they were very informative. I really was looking for particular sneakers but after speaking to a sales person I walked out with a pair of very expensive lifts which turned out to be a great decision because I can use it with all of my sneakers and really be comfortable. read more

I stopped in to get some shirts and I have to say I really like this store. I'm not professional runner, just the weekend warrior runner who enjoys running when my aging joints don't hurt. When I arrived the staff immediately asked me if I needed help and pointed me to the direction of some items I was interested in along with those shirts which I did notice myself when I walked in; it's not that hard to miss a big ass shirt hanging on the wall. Hehe! Overall I think this is an amazing store for it's speciality in running. They had everything from clothing, accessories for running and even a wall full of these "boosts" thing-a-ma-jigs. This is a guy who does not spend more than $15 on pants in 2017. The associate who helped us was very cool and had some character. And she was knowledgeable too. Maybe, everyone she deals with asks the same questions, but her answers felt a bit personalized. I hopped on a treadmill to get my gait analyzed and tried on 3 pairs of shoes.
