Finding portuguese food was always on my to do list, but I never knew there was a family-run business in Maple. I was craving for the shrimp patties and the only good ones were usually downtown. I found Galina's Bbq via Yelp, so I knew I had to get some to try. I got the whole chicken dinner and I was AMAZED at the portions! For under $50, they legit packed the rice and potatoes to the top! Everything was super tasty but the shrimp patties could had been better if I reheated it in the oven. The chicken was super moist and the potatoes were so delicious. The rice was a bit too salty though. Service was great; the waitress told me her aunt opened this restaurant more than 10 years ago. The restaurant was clean and spacious, but definitely not super big. I would definitely come back for more!! read more

I was excited to get some Portuguese food, but was very disappointed in both the food the and services. We arrived for a late lunch on a Sunday, the dining area was empty so we got to pick of tables. We ordered two appetizers, three entrees and a drink. The meal started out well, with some bread, butter and preserved olives. It was lovely to have something to nibble on while waiting. 30 min later, the appetizer of chirizo sausage arrived. It was set alight table side, and we enjoyed the crispy hot sausage. Unfortunately, it took another 30min for our entrees to arrive. My chicken dinner was not even warm, the veggies were overcooked and cold. The only thing hot on my plate was the potatoes, which were delicious. After such a long wait, it was disappointing to be served cold food. Also, our second appetizer never came and we had to remind the waiter not to bill us for it. read more

This is a Portuguese BBQ chicken restaurant in the corner of the plaza. Entrance looks small but inside is quite spacious with a lot of windows. We came in Friday afternoon, and got seated immediately. They also have a lot of takeout orders so the staff is very busy. Came for takeout from Markham so a trek but not bad since the closest Portuguese chh ugh I ken would otherwise be Nando's. Got the BBQ chicken family meal that included two sides. Mild BBQ sauce was not spicy enough for my husband but was just right for me. Large sides were plentiful and definitely enough to feed the family. Potatoes were tasty and might have been better better a day old and lightly pan fried on the stove. Order Calamari and that made fresh when I arrived for pick up that included tarter sauce. Picked up some cod and shrimp rissosi to try and wasn't disappointed. I recommend calling ahead to see what's on the hot table. Next time I will try the fish filet and the Bacalhau à Brás (Salt Cod, Eggs and Potatoes). Tax free if you pay cash :) read more

Our family has been coming here weekly for months because the food is that good. The staple bbq chicken, rice and potatoes are delicious...not only that but their other traditional Portuguese food is amazing! There is a hot table for take out or dine in if you are in more of a hurry but if you have the time dine in and order anything from the menu. They will usually start you off with their olives and basket of bread and butter while you wait for your food to arrive. The service has always been friendly and we have yet to try a dish we didn't like. Catering is also available. We have ordered from them for our Christmas dinner and for some social events and everyone has raved about their food! A must try place especially if you love Portuguese food. read more

Today was the first time we tried Galina's. We ordered a family special whole chicken with the potatoes and rice. The chicken apparently just came off the grill. This was take out due to COVID-19. We brought our food home and we thoroughly enjoyed the moist, tasty chicken, potatoes and rice. I'm usually not a fan of how the "Portuguese" rice is made. But this time not disappointed. Honestly it was a most fantastic meal. Definitely going back. Not expensive. Excellent value. Once things get back to normal will be ordering for family parties. I came here on a thursday evening. I ORDERED 3 whole chickens so I had to wait. They told me they were out of bbq.. so i got 3 whole rotisserrie. THE FLAvour was delicious and it seemed to have alot of chicken. The rice was simple and good. But the potatoes!! Were seasoned well and soft. I really enjoyed the potatoes! I wanted to try the grill chicken but even the rotisserie was good.. so cant complain. The sauces were good. The spicy was not spicy in the beginning but after a few seconds u feel the heat. The mild was sweet and delicious. Honestly i will come back again. And yes there are seats so u can order but keep in mind i think its less of a sit down restaurant. They are to busy at the cash to give u a full service. I DONT mind that..its the same if u go to a nandos.. call ahead of time if you have a big order. And i do plan to come back. When I go to restaurants I stick with what their specialty is. I don't go to the Keg for chicken. The place is in a strip plaza but The inside is passable. Feels like a family run restaurant and everyone was very nice and friendly. So I stuck with their Portuguese chicken. I read the reviews and thought I'd take a chance. We went with another family. Most of us ordered the quarter or half chicken. My kids ordered the calamari. It was meh. A little greasy and tasted like it was cooked from frozen. When our chicken arrived I thought they got my half chicken order wrong. It was so small, shrivelled and no breast meat!! How does half chicken not include one breast?? Found out you have to request whit emery half chicken. Unbelievable!! I usually eat Portuguese at Churrasco on Eglinton. Flavourful and their Piri Piri is excellent. Gallina's chicken was flavourless and dry. I can make better chicken at home with only using salt and pepper. I want this place to do well but they aren't trying. It doesn't cost more to add a little spice and give a good sauce - buy the Piri Piri sauce from Nandos at Costco and at least give that. You already invested in the oven, rent, staff and food- add spice. Won't be going back. Unfortunately, the area has nothing else so they could kill it everyday but the effort just isn't there. Once again O like the family feel and can overlook the location but the food is what I'm there for and flavour matters. read more

Good Morning I was at your restaurant on Saturday night and had Combinado de Marisco/ Seafood Mix Shrimp, Crab, Lobster, Mussels and Clams (Serves 2) I have never been so disappointed in my life ! This is supposed to be for 2 people and it was barely an appetizer for 1. All it was , was a plate full of shells, I basically had to eat with my hands, had to share a cracker, no small forks to even use on the crab legs, It said Lobster that was a joke, the smallest rock lobster cut in half that was to be shared. Also it took an hour and a half for the food to arrive and on top of that you charged 18% tip without my knowledge. My bill was $150.00 and we left starving. You are horribly overpriced for the value of what you call a meal ! You should be ashamed ! Would not ever recommend your restaurant to anyone . And be sure I will tell as many people as I can . Your restaurant is far from fine dining and does not go with your pricing. read more

Normally this place is generous and I enjoy supporting local family owned restaurants. We received a quarter chicken dinner buy one get one free at the Santa fest parade. We went to use it and the chickens in both meal were so small - and when we asked that one not have rice and potatoes and add lettuce instead. They refused. We are so disappointed. Best Portuguese BBQ hands down. We've tried many and after trying Galina's we simply can't go back anywhere else, even though this is far from us. We go weekly now for takeout or dine in. Food is delicious and extremely well priced. Hot serve options vary, which is good. Go with the roasted chicken instead of the BBQ. Both are good but the roasted tastes amazing and it is leaner (likely not to have been drizzled with oil to keep moist). They often have seafood if that's your thing and it smells fantastic. Hot serve is usually a meat mixed with veggies and sauced sparingly. Quick service and servers are very helpful and polite. Doesn't tend to be over busy but the area isn't bustling; remote-ish. read more

Wow!! Best Portuguese chicken I've ever tasted. The rice, potatoes and hot sauce ( I love the mild one) is by far the best I've ever had. Beautiful restaurant, not like most of the little chicken take out places. They have a great hot table with different daily specials. My husband loves the fish and especially the octopus (Friday's special) It's worth the drive. It will become your new favourite spot. Very reasonably priced too. read more
