It's cafeteria style, but because of how fast they sell, nothing seems to sit and the food is consistently on a fresh rotation. I got the 1/4 chicken meal with two sides, potatoes & veggies and the flavors were on point. 10/10. I also bought a beef puff, which was just okay imo but it seemed to be sitting for a while so it wasn't as fresh. They give you very generous portions for the plates. No seating is available inside but they have 3 tables that can fit 2-3 people right outside their front door. Seems to be extremely popular with locals of all backgrounds and I can see why! We ordered the half chicken with potatoes and rice and was impressed from the first bite. They were generous with the sauce, which was super flavorful with a nice tang to it. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the potatoes were cooked just right. I grew up in little Portuguese so this sent me into full childhood nostalgia. The service was also great. The chicken was juicy and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. If you got a potatoe with some crispy skin it was even better! Service was great and the staff are very friendly! Horrible experience. Had ordered a $160 seafood combo tray. Upon opening the container at home, I discovered that the crab was missing. There was a shell but no crab meat or legs anywhere. I figured it was a mistake on their part, as mistakes do happen. When I called them the next day to let them know, I was initially told that's impossible, and that it was added by the cook. But he, (I believe it was the owner's son) told me to come to the store to get it sorted out. When I arrived, my initial interaction was with the owner and was told that the crab was there and accused me of lying. I told him that I have eyes and can see that there was an empty shell but no crab meat or legs anywhere. He began to raise his voice at which point his son came out and took me aside and said that he would refund me $50 if that was acceptable, to which I responded that it would be fine. At this moment the owner came over and proceeded to show me how the crab is cooked and presented in the tray. I again told him there was no crab in the tray. I asked him if he thought I was lying to which he responded YES and refused to issue any refund despite his son's objection. Never have I experienced such terrible treatment as a customer, and he shouldn't be in the service industry. Enough to say that this is my last time ordering from here and if anyone orders from their catering menu, my advice would be to check it thoroughly before leaving the store. read more

The sad thing is we live in Florida ( not that sad actually lol ) and we CRAVE your chicken from miles away. This chicken is ridiculously yummy, moist, fresh and authentic! The hot sauce is soooooo good! I want to slather that stuff on everything! Everything I tell you! It's not that spicy either. The potatoes and rice were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection and the salad was fresh! I got a family meal deal #1 to go for $23.... It Included a whole chicken, small rice, medium potatoes or fries, medium salad and their piri piri sauce. Amazing value for what you get and the quality is outstanding! My husband thinks it's better than our precious Brasas chicken.... He may be right .... Do I smell leftovers? Drool** P.S. This time I brought it home for a family dinner, so got a couple of meal deals with potatoes, rice & veggies on the side. Their chicken is so flavourful & grilled to perfection. If I was rating Farol based on value, it would be a 5*. However, based on food alone, it was a disappointing 2-2.5*. First of all, lemme give you an idea of how much food you get for the Family Combo #1 - $23: 2 - Lg Rectangular takeout containers (1 full of Parisian potatoes, 1 full of steamed veg) 1 - Lg Square styro for 1 Portuguese chicken (chicken appeared flattened and was cut into smaller pieces upon request) 1 - Sm Square styro of Rice I'd say that there was 5-6 servings in total, so it's A LOT of food. Very good for a quick dinner for a family. Whole combo was pulled together in a coupla minutes, so it's fast. No doubt about that. HOWEVER, where Farol disappoints is that it's unfortunately NOT the "best Portuguese chicken in Mississauga", as per their sign, at least not during my visit. Chicken was dry and bland, despite the added 'spicy' sauce. Potatoes, veggies, although plentiful, were bland as well. Rice was slightly more seasoned, but I'd say still on the bland side. What got me was the sheer and utter DRYNESS. Bland, I can fix with a salt shaker, but I cannot fix dry once everything is already cooked. I'd give this place another try, as the counter staff was really nice and efficient, maybe the cook/chicken just had an off-day. read more

Maybe I should have ordered in Portuguese instead, I would have had a better chance of getting my order right. I'll never go back to this place. I just came to this restaurant to order mothers day dinner for my family, after waiting in line for 30 minutes, it was my turn to order so I went inside. As another customer left the man behind me in line came in and the person behind the counter chose to serve him before me. I said something but he continued to serve him. He also tried to serve ANOTHER man before myself. He then told me that they ran out of chicken, the only reason I came to the restaurant and waited in line for 30 minutes. He was unapologetic, rude and unprofessional. I really enjoyed the food from this place but after me being treated like this on Mother's Day, of all days, I will not be back. This is a hidden gem in Mississauga for Portuguese food. I have driven past this place so many times without ever considering stoping in, but today I wanted to try it out and I am pleased that I did. The food is authentic Portuguese food and they have all the fixing too. I recommend getting the chicken with rice and potatoes as that is a classic and what they are know for. I wish the hot sauce on the chicken was spicier but the favours were really good. I was a little disappointed with the service though, the staff seemed to be a little pushy, even though no one behind us. Farol's chicken is absolutely amazing. While I don't consider myself a churrasqueira expert, this is hands down, by far, the best Portuguese chicken I have ever had. At $12 for a whole chicken, there is enough meat to feed 3-4 people. They chop the chicken up right in front of you, and give you a choice of mild or hot sauces (personally I prefer the hot one, and it isn't too spicy). In addition to their chicken, they also offer a vast range of other dishes that are prepared and ready to buy. I've had the fish and the squid, and they too are very good. This is a purely takeout place, where the lines can stretch outside the front door at times. Be prepared for a wait, but don't worry, the service is quick and the lines move fast. That pretty much summarizes this business to be honest. Go there for the chicken, get other dishes to accompany it, and enjoy! Believe me, you will. read more

Dropped by here the other day after doing a Google search for best Portuguese chicken in Mississauga. It was rated highest and did not disappoint. Large portions of home cooked and flavorful chicken offered by a friendly family run establishment. I ordered a chicken dinner with rice, potatoes and veggies, along with calamari and some wings. The chicken was cooked nicely but could use more spice, ditto for the potatoes. The squid was a bit on the rubbery side. Fish and shrimp dumplings were delicious. Place has a very warm vibe to it. In the past I've been to Farol and enjoyed their food. While I still think their food is good, on my last visit I became extremely annoyed with their poor customer service. I was there this past New Years Eve and given it was New Years I did expect to wait as many folks like take out for New Years; upon arrival the line up was out the door, we waited out in the cold for 15 minutes before getting into the restaurant where I waited another 40 minutes. Once I got to the front of the line I tried to place an order, however was turned away because I did not phone the order in. Several other people overheard this and left as well. I suppose I could've went elsewhere instead of standing in line, but this was a special request from a loved one. Would it have been too much for the proprietors of Farol to put up a sign in the window explaining the situation? Or making an announcement occasionally to let people know they would not be served if they did not phone in an order? After all, they kept yelling at the patrons to keep the front door closed due to the cold wind!! Their food may be good and the staff may be friendly, but these are things that can be corrected if they fall short of satisfactory. The lack of respect for people's time is unacceptable, time is a precious commodity that we can never get back. That evening the people at Farol stole an hour away from numerous individuals and for this I can no longer support them. read more

Order came to $45 and satisfied 7 people and one vegetarian. Will not go anywhere for churrasqueia. Also ordered veal escaloppini from Bairrada with mushrooms and gravy. One of the best dish. The prices are great. I usually get the quarter chicken with 2 sides for $6. As someone who does not like sauce on their rotisserie chicken, I do find their chicken a bit dry.
