The food was amazing. Love the atmosphere with the hanging gardens in the patio. Staff were super friendly and very punctual . I love the seafood here. They have an amazing seafood platter which gives you enough taste on almost everything. The meat options here are also just as good, but I would say the highlight is the seafood. I had lunch here today and I am torn between giving them 3 and 4 stars. The food is delicious but service is very confusing, especially when you're a new customer. Upon arrival, you see that there is a hot & cold food counter, sort of cafeteria style. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to order at the counter and then sit, or if I was supposed to order from the server. It took a few minutes of standing at the entrance before I was even acknowledged by anyone, and even then the server did not greet me properly, just said "You can sit anywhere". She brought menus and dropped off a basket of bread and walked away. Again, no explanation of how to order. The friend I was meeting arrived, and we waited for about ten minutes then thought maybe we are supposed to order at the counter? So we walked up to the counter to check out what they had. Our server walked past and looked at us, but even then, didn't provide an explanation for their "system". Perhaps it's a language barrier or cultural difference but I'm not used to it. We gave up and went back to our table to just order off the menu. It seems the food at the counter is the daily specials, but I still don't have a clue how I would know this because it's a big secret. We both ordered the chicken and it was delicious. I just had some steamed broccoli with mine, while my friend had rice and potatoes with hers. Everything looked and tasted so good. Unfortunately, I ended up having to rush to leave to get back to work, (after all the waiting around) so I didn't even get to finish my food. Ended up taking the rest to go. In any case, I know some of my coworkers eat here frequently, so I'll likely go back. Just hope they improve the service. read more

During my recent visit to Toronto, an old friend suggested to meet in O Patio Churrasqueira for dinner. I visited Portugal several years ago and have been wanting to get some bacalhau. The restaurant sign was kind of small and drove right passed it the first time, look for the tall net from the driving range behind the restaurant. It was a hole in the wall place. There were two dining areas, a bar and a takeout counter, all handled by 3 servers. At times it was hard to get our server's attention. Four of us decided to go family style and share all our dishes. For appetizers we had the chorizo sausage and the mussels and clam. The chorizo was house made came on a plate with flame underneath. It was unfortunately a little dry and not too spicy. The mussels were those big frozen ones from New Zealand. The clam meat in their shells were kind of skinny, perhaps they had been around for a few days. The tomato based sauce however, was dynamite. I drank it like a soup and dipped my bread in it, not wanting to let it go to waste. For main course, we had a whole Portuguese roasted chicken, lamb chops and the A Chef Bacalhau. The lamb chops were so over cooked, almost inedible. The roast chicken was good but not special. The A Chef Bacalhau was interesting, a fairly big piece of cod topped with home fried potato chips, a few pickled vegetables and a mayonnaise based sauce. The bacalhau was still a little salty which is not how I remember they serve bacalhau in Portugal. Overall, there were some misses but volume of food was good, one would not leave this place hungry. read more

The first time I had Portuguese chicken, it was over 10 years ago at a restaurant that closed within a year of opening. The food was lacking and I never felt the desire to have Portuguese chicken since. For my coworkers birthday a couple weeks ago,she wanted to have dinner at O Patio. She claimed it's the Best Portuguese restaurant in the city" I ordered quarter chicken dinner with white meat and the rest of the party ordered salmon and steak dishes. The food took a long time to arrive, we waited about 40mins. There was a couple that arrived 20mins after we ordered and received their food within 10mins of ordering. They ordered bbq chicken so it could be that our salmon and steak order took longer to make. The portions were very generous and everyone enjoyed their meals. The chicken was very tender and moist, potatoes are nicely seasoned and not over cooked. My meal was around $10 before tax and tip. Overall the food here is delicious i definitely recommend it. The chicken dishes will come out quick but if you order other dishes, it takes a while to come out. The restaurant also has a hot table for lunch time and for express takeout. read more

This was my first time here but I am a big fan of Portuguese cousine, I love the mix of spices and meat choises that this cousine has to offer. We got all the traditional places like the chicken with tomato sauce, white seasoned rice, potatoes, salad, and barbecue style beef. Everything was great! I really enjoyed the food and the great taste of authenticity. Portuguese cousine is usualy not spicy but rich in flavour which is quite tasteful. The service here was friendly and they know how to time all the food you order, this is always a great quality to a good restaurant. To me this show they understand the service industry. I know some of the other reviews are a little up and down depending on each individual experience. But I had a great one today ! I came with two other friends and pulled one of the waitresses aside and asked if I should seat myself or wait as it was PACKED! Even at 1pm on a Monday afternoon totally full house! Anyways after waiting about no more than 3-4 mins we were taken to a table in the back and provided menus and bread right away. Our waitress was fantastic! I ordered the peppercorn steak with gravy and fries and let me tell you the portions you get are MASSIVE!!! Very authentic Portuguese style restaurant, I'd 100% visit again! read more

I really want to support my local Portuguese folks but this is going to be a NO for me lol. I am even being nice with 2 stars- I should REALLY give them 1. I have been to this location 3 times...neither of them exceeded my expectations (so why go so many times you ask, well...see below lol) Visit # 1 was in November of 2017 *yes long time ago* it was my sister in law's birthday and my brother in law invited 14 close/family friends. The food was OK, sea food apps at the time tasted good (calamari and shrimp) but I did get sick after my meal and so did my brother in law. I got the bife a casa as reference ...I'm not sure what set off my stomach but 3 people at our table got sick afterwards so I think it's something we ate Visit # 2 - decided to give it another try with my sister in law, brother in law and hubs, we went about two months ago. I got a VERY simple dish- Portuguese Rotisserie chicken- so there was obviously no mess up there. My complaint for this visit was: 1. My sister in law complained that her fries were SO salty and instead of offering her new fries they are like Oh the kitchen is almost closed..so what? make her new fries- you fucked up with going salt crazy on the fries...they ended up getting her new fries and I think gave her a free dessert. 2. The shrimp was either frozen or hours old because it did NOT taste fresh. Sauce was good but it was not fresh. I eat enough shrimp and cook it to know. 3. Calamari you can tell is also not housemade 4 Visit #3 - my brother in law decided we should come here two weeks ago with their aunt and uncle (I didn't even fight it because my food was good last time minus the minor hiccups) , so we went. Plus- they really wanted us to try this huge seafood platter that they had with another couple a while back. #1: First they told us that a specific grilled octopus appetizer was not available but then we see it being brought out to 2 different tables- ok? is the octopus playing favourites? lol Then we ordered mussels and calamari to start - which never came because our mains were being served to us and we were all...uhh? We all got (shockingly) the chicken breast with mushroom sauce...first things first, the chicken was kind of cold- so you can tell it was either sitting there or was premade and just reheated. There was not enough sauce- it was so dry so we asked for more sauce which they brought out (the sauce was delicious btw). The rice- not a typical rice to accompany with this type of dish. It looks like they used the Portuguese rice they give at their take out counter but that dish it should be white rice with fries or veggies not the standard Portuguese rice as the flavours clash. Last but not least- my favourite part- when I tried to stop a specific waitress (not mine because I had no clue where she was) and she literally looked at me, pointed her finger like wait, walked away and then never came to our table. Even a couple sitting next to us saw and were SHOCKED. You may not be my waitress but guess what- I'm a paying client. We also TRIED to spend a good amount of money at your restaurant.I meant we did order 2 bottles of wine, drinks, 1/2 litre of white wine, 4 meals and dessert - tried to order apps but I guess it's with Jesus now...so regardless, you should at least acknowledge me. With that being said- WAY better Portuguese restaurants to go to. I'm sad because they have a cute cat that wanders around at the back in the "enclosed patio" section- o well .LOL read more

Location was weird but boy is it worth it. Free parking and lots of it! You walk down the stairs and into a nice looking restaurant. Nice enough to hold a small celebration in. The front is the "cafeteria" style ordering with a large range of dishes and not just the chicken, potato and rice. Although the chicken and potatoes are damn delicious. The potatoes are soft, but so much flavor it's almost like mashed potato with gravy when i bite into it. The chicken was moist, crispy skin, not too salty but great flavor. Service was great, called in a pick up and everything was easy. They didn't start putting things together until I got there, but everything was quick and easy. Threw in a small order of olives and they are delicious!!! Will be back to try their other dishes. All in all a great win! read more

This place was actually really easy to find, thanks to the big sign they put beside Keele st. The girl behind the counter served me quickly though, so that was a bonus. I got the 1/2 chicken dinner. I liked that they had a large assortment of sides (I got to pick 2), but I'm pretty sure she nuked my side veggies in the microwave which resulted in them being a little mushy. The chicken was good, a tad dry, if it was a little more tender on the inside and crispy/charred on the outside it would've been perfect. The potatoes were actually really really good, nicely seasoned and soft, a bit oily but it didn't take away from its taste. Make sure to ask for hot sauce when you go, it makes the chicken tastes awesome. Oh and there's no tax, which is a bonus. Definitely will come back if I get another craving for bbq chicken read more

I love coming here. The reason why I'm giving a 4/5 is because I wish they had a larger variety of traditional Portuguese plates . You really get the bang for the buck here, food is delicious and at a reasonable price. I had the Portuguese chicken - typical, but oh boy was it delicious! The side salad was not well dressed though, I felt like not much effort was put into it, but that chicken though! I also tried their Portuguese home made pudding and that just blew my mind. I've been here a few times and will be coming back for more. It gets quite crowded on the weekends so if you decide to come you should call to reserve a table. Another great thing is that they have their own parking - so you can just park, eat and relax. read more

This is a very busy restaurant that you can't tell from outside. We went on a sunday afternoon around 2pm and thought it would be semi empty. When we walked in, the restaurant was full and we had to wait a while for the servers to clean up a table for us. Surprisingly by the time we left the restaurant around 3:30, the restaurant was still full... Not many restaurants that I can think of is constantly busy especially at the time between lunch and dinner. They served bread as soon as we sat down, which was nice. It was the 2nd time we came here and the first time we ordered half chicken with veggies and potato chips, I remember the veggies were a little bit cold as they were already sitting in the counter. I tried to order something from the menu and not in the counter this time. My husband ordered the quarter dark chicken with potato chips. I order the stir fry chicken with mushroom sauce and fries. I thought mine was decent, However my husband's dish was a bit cold. I guess the chef finished his first but took longer to prepare mine. We waited our dish for at least half an hour, it was a bit long. I think if you order the daily special that already in the counter, or bbq chicken would be faster. I don't understand why this place is so busy. I guess there aren't many Portuguese restaurant that you can sit down and eat comfortably in Toronto as many of them are take out only. Really disappointed. The server told us to seat ourselves - and then didn't bother to bring us a menu or ask us for drink orders for over 5 minutes. We eventually gave her our order. She returned less than 3 minutes later with these small plates with our food crowded on to it. The chicken was barely warm, there wasn't any piri piri sauce provided. The potatoes were cold. Decided to order take-out. Huge mistake! Asked for medium rare steaks and received shoe leather and that's putting it mildy....one order was with vegetables instead of fries/chips. They never drained the water from the veggies, so the steak was in a mostly watery peppercorn sauce. Ordered the calamari... it was disgusting.... Never again.... very expensive for what we received. Absolutely love this place. Casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, delicious chicken and the homemade hot sauce is too good !!! The Bala Bala or homemade round fries are soo good. I've also tried the beef skewer which is good too. My collegues also like to try the grilled squid and battered cod. It's close to my work and provides a chill no fuss atmosphere, my manager knows all the staff by name now. The hot sauce I was told is a secret family recipe and only 4 people know it !!! Very good place to come for authentic Portuguese food. The owners are very nice and social. All staff is wonderful and very nice. Been coming here for many years and every time I bring someone here they love it and come back! Never disappointed after coming here. The dessert is not super great but there is a bakery right next door! Very spacious and great spot to have parties. Very family friendly. read more

I was so disappointed with this restaurant as we were told how good it was by some friends of ours. We arrived before 8 and ordered around 8:30pm. We were told that our combinado de marisco would be about 45 minutes but we were ok with that as we were still waiting for some people to arrive. 2 and a half hours later and everyone has eaten the restaurant is empty and we are still waiting for this 45 minute dish... When we asked about it at 10:30 all we got was an argument not an explanation or an I'm sorry it's taking so long just a "it is what it is"... I do not recommend this place to anyone! Even if this was the best food I had ever eaten ( which it wasn't) my family and I will not be returning to this place. I came here 4 times and the 5th time won't happen any time soon, let me tell ya. The food is 3.5/5. There are dishes that are great and there are dishes that are so so. The reason I am giving only 2 stars is the service. Every time I went there was worse than the one before. I went for supper last night with my spouse. We waited to be served for 20 min even thought they were not busy. The couple that came 15 min after us got served sooner and their food was on the table and we did not even get the bread that one usually gets when they come in. Even though my spouse is Portugese (they did not know that as it is not written on the forehead) they kept talking to both of us in Portuguese. One of the girls said something twice to me and I starred at her thinking "are you freaking serious??? This is Toronto, not Lisbon". If they think they should cater only Portuguese people they should put that on the door so that no other nationality goes in. Anyways... they put the food on our table and did not approach us a single time to ask how it was. After we were done eating we had to get up and pay as nobody was approaching us. Went to this restaurant on the weekend for lunch because we felt like some good Portuguese food. Waited 30min before we could order half liter of wine, 2 quarter chicken plates with rice & potatoes which came out cold and a calamari to start. When the calamari came out we were shocked at how it looked, after trying it we confirmed it was store bought frozen calamari. Disgusting! We told the waitress we didn't like it and wanted to return it, she seemed ok with that. Once we got the bill, we noticed the $8 calamari was still on it. We then tried to make it clear to our waitress we returned it because we didn't like it, she was confused so we asked for a manager. A tall balding man came out and asked why we didn't like the calamari, we said it wasn't calamari we expected to get from a Portuguese restaurant plus it was too breaded, he then proceeded to argue with us and tell us that he already bought the food, who's gonna pay for it etc.., then said if you didn't like something at McDonald's would they give you back your money or exchange it? We were like YES! At this point we were very uncomfortable, he finally agreed to take the calamari off the bill huffed and puffed then walked away. Long story short, the wait time is brutal, the owner has no people skills, he's rude and would rather lose 2 customers than swallow an $8 plate of store bought frozen calamari.
