Galka's is a nice little shop that may prove to be worth a visit if you are a bowling enthusiast. They have special bowling balls that really rock. For instance: I saw a Pepsi Bowling ball there, a Tigger one, and a Bugs Bunny one! They were so neat! They also have bowling shoes, some of which look like regular tennis shoes, but all of which look ten times better than the kind you're gonna rent at the bowling alley and have been god knows where. They also have bags, gloves, towels, etc. My friend has this awesome Miller High Life Ball and he brought it there to have holes drilled out, which is something the guy does there. It was pretty interesting to see the process. So, check it out. I haven't visited many bowling shops so I can't compare really, but this place seemed cool to me. Checks it out yo!! read more

I got my first bowling ball from Galka's years ago. The staff is very friendly and helpful; they really know their stuff. Galka's is one of those local proshops that still have pros manning the joint - not pimply faced teenagers that are just out to make a quick buck. Don't expect to find any spectacular deals - they are just a local shop. But the few extra bucks is worth the volumes of experience you can tap. read more

Probably thee best pro shop in the tri-state area. Wally really is the consummate professional. He attends to every detail and will adjust your drilling until your ball fits like a glove.I have been going there for almost twenty years and never had a bad experience. Also all of your info is stored on cards in their filing cabinet so if you need info on a long forgotten ball, it will always be on site. I have been going there for about 10 years now. I love this place! Everyone is so friendly and intelligent when it comes to bowling. I tried going to another pro shop about a year ago just to compare, and it was nowhere near as good as Galka's. The only problem is that when I compared prices from all of the other pro shops around, Galka's was the most pricey, BUT, it is well worth the extra $20-$40 for the job they do. This is definately the greatest pro shop in America! I will never stop going to Galka's. This place is even great to just go in and talk and hang out. I was new to the area and didnt know where to go to find someone to help me refit my bowling ball that i had not used in a few years. co workers had told me about a pro shop in Lowell Indiana. So I went there even though it was rather far. To say it was a bad experience was an understatement. The man there was rude, abrasive, i told him what i needed and when he gave me the ball back, i told him it did not feel right, he then proceeded to tell me he was a long time bowler and this fit was right for me. I paid for a repair that was not right, My teammates at Plaza lanes told me of Galka's pro shop, So i drove there and explained the situation to who i later found out was the owner, wally galka. he took the time to listen to me and refitted my ball, gave me some pointers and i ended up buying a new ball besides getting my old one redone. the kindness and sincereity that i was given to me restored my faith in small business and I know that from here on, I will make sure that this is the place for all my bowling needs and i will make sure to refer people here as well. read more
