I've only been to this shop a handful full of times. I guess my big complaint was they didn't wanna give me a copy of my tax stamp for my suppressor I bought from them. Before shopping with them I would buy my suppressors at 219, they are very nice and helpful.. 219 would always give me a copy of my tax stamp before I left with my NFA items. I thought this was an industry standard. Anyway when I was picking up my suppressor I asked, "hey can I get a copy of the tax stamp?" The guy behind the counter says no, but if I call the ATF they can send one to me. He also told me I could print one out at home on my own printer... I asked again nicely and telling him I don't own a printer. Again, push back. No we don't do that here he says. Very nicely for the last time I ask and reminding him I don't own a printer. He takes one step over to his printer and makes me a copy that only took him 5 seconds to complete. I thanked him for his time and left with my item. Before leaving he told me I should stop at Walmart and pick up a printer so I don't "have this problem again"... since then I've been back once for warranty work, I asked them to send it out. I was charged a transfer fee. That seemed unnecessary because I wasn't transferring anything, it was an AR upper. Yes I understand I could have taken it to the post office instead but I wanted to give them another chance. This is a decent local gunshop. It's not a huge chain of faceless counter people trying to just make the sale. I always lookup what I'm wanting to buy on their site first. They probably have it or can get it in within a week or so? Why, you ask? If you buy it there they don't charge the transfer fee. If you think you found a really good deal or low price and elect to transfer to this shop they charge an extra $35-45 to handle the paperwork. Buy it through them and have it come in as stock and you just go in and pay that low price and....I don't know, Skip your way home with your new widget balanced on your head...thats usually what I do. read more

I'm an Army veteran and wanted a .45 so I saw the Tisas M1911 A1 US Army .45acp. I paid it off in monthly payments and when I I went out with the guys to buy ammo I was shocked to see that my firearm was a 9mm. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to patronize a store that honors veterans just to find out the caliber was all wrong. You trust the owners or management to have things labeled correctly. They should have noticed it at one point or another and corrected it. Since I bought it in January I can't return it for full price. It took me all of 5 minutes for the Cabelas worker to tell me it's not a .45. The people inside the gun store were nice and professional with me and gave me a discount for vets. The lack of detail on their part is a game changer. I'll go elsewhere for my firearms and ammo. I'll keep the gun but they lost a veteran customer. I should have read the reviews before patronizing this business. Customer service is lacking as they don't even greet you when you walk in. The two men stood taking with another customer while I walked around not even being acknowledged. I walk out after several minutes of being ignored. It's sad to be treated that way by a business that you're already doing business with. Claims of racism are echoed throughout reviews on different platforms. It very well may be racism but I'm not going to play that card instead I'll deal with the lack of detail and professionalism. The lack of a greeting when you walk in . Over the years since they opened in Schererville, on 41, just south of 30, I've experienced outstanding customer care - even when I wasnt buying anything. I enjoy stopping in from time to time, just to see what's new, or what's on sale. Just before the pandemic-induced run on the gun shops, I was tire-kicking, as explained, and saw a stunning deal on a new Sig pocket pistol for less than a clean used one should be - and grabbed it. Nowhere, even online, did anyone offer that unit for less than $200 more. Wow. Right? So excellent customer care, and fair to fantastic prices, plus super-convenient location. Look/Feel: very cool with black walls and metal setup. Decent selection of pistols, rifles, and shotguns. All of the ammo is behind the counter so you can't see any pricing. Pricing: as stated for the ammo it's tough unless you gave eagle eyes or ask the associate about each one. As far as the pricing on firearms it's rough. They are all marked at msrp pretty much. I never see things on sale like I do at blythes. When I inquired about a match they just offered me free time in their simulator instead. No thanks. Knowledge/Service: they are extremely knowledgeable and give you very good service. I've dealt with a young man that used to work at gander mountain and an older gentleman who always wears gloves. They know their stuff and they are friendly, not grouchy like you'll find at other little guys gun shops. Verdict: if they have a hard to find piece/used gun I could see myself buying. They do computer 4473 and I always have problems with the computer because I have a UPIN which always delays or I get denied. They accommodated me in my request to phone it in. Much thanks to them. The place is set up like a metal theme and while I have no problem with that I don't think that they are carrying the correct inventory. They have more accessories on the floor that I think are a waste and a smaller limited quantity of ammo that's behind the counter. Rifle selection is very limited compared to Blythe's. Pistol selection and prices are competitive. I've used the simulator several times and I think it is pricey considering I always run into an issue while I'm using it that requires them to come over and fix something. The biggest issue I have by far is this one kid likes to act all cool and strap an assault rifle to his chest and walk around wearing it. I've dealt with him several times and he is not friendly at all, not helpful and just wants to walk around carrying that rifle thinking he's so badass. It is obnoxious, immature, and intimidating for any women that come in there. I look at him and I laugh and go what a fool. read more

I had a gun I purchased 5 years ago in 2011 from Remington. The gun was defective and I had to have my new gun shipped to a license dealer. I called Remington on November 27,2017 and asked where was my new gun. They said my gun was sent to South County Gun on November 24, 2017. I go up to the store to inquire about my gun and why they haven't called me or email to let me know my gun was at there shop. Then I had to log into there database and was told it was on delay. I have my CCW from two states and have no criminal history and I'm being told I have to wait because their agent is not officially in FBI investigator but in outside entity who is running behind. That if I don't hear anything by 12/01/2017 just pick up my gun at the store. This is bogus and I'm being extra investigated just to receive a gun that I had already purchased. read more
