They have a good variety of skis to choose from. I rented a pair of skis for my girlfriend to ride for the weekend. Good prices too. If you have your own boots, they'll knock 20% off the total too. They're quick and easy to work with. If you reserve online, it's even faster. 2023/24 season has been a rough in terms of weather so damage waiver is probably a good idea to sign up on. We didn't get any core shots on the skis but sfter seeing the terrain, it's tough out there. read more

Super great and reasonably priced rental option on your way up to Big sky! We made a reservation for some gear prior to our trip to Montana. It would only be our 2nd time skiing and first time to big sky. The gal we spoke to was super helpful and friendly on the phone. Even giving advice about renting a vehicle. When we arrived, getting the equipment was easy and checkout swift, we were properly fitted for our ski boots (I hear this is a huge issue if you are not) but the same gal we spoke to on the phone helped us out and she was amazing! We rented two poles, two skis and a helmet and it was maybe $70 for a day. Not too bad! Brought stuff back the next day and check out was about 5 minutes and I was in and out. Rented a snowboard package and almost was seriously hurt because they did not measure my stance for the board or anything! I had to get lifted down the mountain!! It was very scary!! When returning the gear and getting a refund they were so rude!!! Please take care of your costumers as this was a horrible experience and I will just be renting from the mountain moving forward! One of the worst experiences I've had at a ski shop. One of the employees (arm in a sling) so we'll call him one armed Larry, was disinterested in helping me the second I showed up with my skis and bindings for a mount. He told me it would take 3 days... (Thursday to Sunday). I said fine and then asked him for a recc on skins. He just said "idk man I don't do backcountry". Thought to myself, you busted your arm inbounds? Lame. Then I decided I was going to take my business elsewhere and he ripped the stickers he had put in my gear and goes "here, it's your s*** , do what you want". Unbelievable experience from Danielle and Max. From the start Danielle was friendly and took the time to answer all my questions about what we needed for a day of mountain biking on Big Sky. The next day Max called in advance to share when he'd be at the mountain and where to meet. They showed up with extra gear and made sure everything fit comfortably. After getting rained out early in the day they were so accommodating to help for our rain soaked day. I made online arrangements to rent an MTB there for a couple of days to ride at Big Sky and the bike was ready and prepped for me when I got there and the rental process was fast. The bike worked flawlessly, including the dropper post, and it was a joy to ride. Returning the bike was just as easy and quick. The tires were a little worn but they worked fine. A huge bonus is that the bike was a LOT cheaper than renting the same bike from Big Sky's shop. The only downside is that you have to transport it the six miles between Gallatin and Big Sky. I would definitely recommend Gallatin for anyone wanting to rent a bike for Big Sky. read more

We have rented bikes from Gallatin twice. They have a good selection of bikes. Unfortunately, we had an unsatisfactory experience with them two weeks ago. We had carefully reserved 5 bikes and paid in advance. Two of our kids were ill the morning of our rental, and could not make it. Although Gallatin said they were "flexible" on the rentals, at the end of the day, they would not give us a future credit for the two bikes that our family couldn't use. They promised they would check with the owner, but they never got back to us. And when we came back to the store to inquire, they once again said that the owner would not give us a credit for a future rental. That was a disappointing customer experience that left a bad taste in our mouths. We won't be returning to Gallatin, nor will we recommend it to others. read more

We rented bikes for the day. The bikes were of very good quality and the prices were very reasonable. I've had to pay over $100 to rent the same quality bikes in larger cities. Here, I paid under $40 for newer Trek hardtails with hydraulic disc brakes. The bikes were tuned and ready to ride. The shop rents higher quality carbon fiber downhill bikes for very reasonable rates for the day (until 5:30pm) or from 5pm to 10am the next day. The staff was really helpful in getting us outfitted with bikes, helmets, and trail maps and we were on our way in minutes. Definitely recommend this shop. read more

Called a week in advance to reserve a couple bikes. Employee told me no problem and to send an email with date and our heights. We emailed back and forth a couple times confirming details. Now we're in Big Sky and are being told told "oh sorry, we don't have any bikes, looks like we didn't email you back to complete the reservation." The bikes in general were good as well the prices. Our group was 6 people, and we're all in our early to mid 60. We told the employees we were riding the "mountain to meadow" trail based on an article one of us read. The employee commented that the first mile is uphill but after that it's mostly downhill as an easy to moderate trail. (What we learned during the ride was this trail was moderate to difficult with some steep downhills, rocky, and tight turns).They never asked any questions about our skill level or if we had any safety equipment. They simply help us load our bikes into the trucks and off we went. The trail was difficult and what I would consider single track. After the first mile or so there's very few places that bikes can pass one another. Because of the challenging terrain we found ourselves pushing our bikes in numbers places. Others on the trail were shocked we didn't have helmets, gloves, or pads of any kind. On the downhills as you probably know most bikers are flying making a dangerous situation for all. Not one rider and we saw of about 50 riders go by, not one was without full safety equipment. Over all our experience was bad and I would never rent from this store again. While we should have asked more questions the shop should have also asked our skill level. And it's inexcusable for the shop not to have made sure we had proper safety equipment. Upon returning the bikes we asked "why did you send us out without asking our skill level and not insisting we have safety equipment. Their answer "because you seemed to know what you wanted". While it all ended ok, aside from one dislocated finger and a few cuts and bruises. With a few questions the shop should have made certain we had safety equipment for there protection as well ours. read more

My friend was visiting Big Sky and needed some work on skis so he was referred to Gallatin Alpine Sports. When it was time for pick up I noticed a female employee drinking beer walking around the store at 3:30pm and not very professional. My family rented e-mountain bikes and rode the local trails in town. The trails are easily accessible from the shop, the bikes were well maintained, and an employees met me at the trailhead in under 15 minutes when I got a flat. The eBIKE rentals were great since there are some climbs, we were not accustomed to the elevation, and we had riders of different ages and ability levels. read more

Bad customer service. We have skied at 30+ resort areas and have never been charged for ski repairs. At this store they charged us for one pair of the skis to be repaired for 3 consecutive days. We had 9 sets rented and returned them over three nights as people finished skiing. Each time the staff picked one set that had to be repaired and charged us more money. No mention of this fee or insurance offered as we rented the skis. We will never use this company again. We will recommend everyone else use a different company. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME IN THE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE. GO RIGHT TO TOWN CENTER AND VISIT THESE GUYS 1) I'm a snowboarder! Big sky Montana shops are for skiers. I went to 4 shops in the village and out. Nothing for snowboarders. 2) Gallatin Alpine Sports (GAS) is in the town center about a 10 minute bus ride from the mountain village. 3) wow! 4) Great deals in April 15. I bought an arbor wasteland and T Rice Union bindings. I demo'd a jones flagship 161 and bought that. All in all I saved about 50%. 5) that's all great but the service was amazing. Ask for Andrea. She's from Utah. She'll bring you whiskey. She knows her stuff as does the rest of the staff I dealt with. They made buying the gear easy. 6) Bonus: they setup shipping for me so you don't have to put your new gear on the plane. $30 to ship 2 boards and bindings from big sky to ny! Silliness!!! 7) they have ski gear too, if you're in big sky and you need gear, go to GAS. Don't waste your time in the village. 8) I went to other shops and did not get nearly the love GAS showed us. read more

Rented skis here for my family of five. Fantastic service. Three people helped get all of the measurements done. They were all very friendly with my kids. We just wanted the sport package and they did not try to sell us up as we have encountered at other ski rentals shops in Big Sky. Best rates in the Big Sky area on all levels of skis. Rented six road bikes from Tom with only a day's notice, after learning that West Yellowstone had opened to cyclists last week. Tom was incredibly helpful in providing background information on riding in the park, tuning up the bikes, bringing in a bike/car rack, and supporting all of my friends of different experience levels in setting up their bikes and helmets. The rental rates were excellent, especially given the level of service and the performance of the bikes. We had an absolutely unbelievable ride among bison and elk and all manner of natural and geological beauty. Many thanks to Tom and his staff for their support. They are also a year round retail store with both fashionable and functional gear. My favorite part of this store is Stella, the adorable Golden Retriever who greets you at the door. Super friendly, laid back staff. We had a nearly seamless experience getting our rental gear. We left with a few qualms about board / ski equipment sizes but ended up glad we trusted the guidance of the staff. Seems like the selection/availability for rental equipment may not be extensive since they didn't have the right adult ski boot size our smaller-footed friend, so they subbed a kids boot - technically it worked out, but it was just odd. Decent selection of gear/clothing on sale in addition to adult beverages - a nice bonus. Prices are relatively competitive. read more
