(Date of writing: 5/17/22). Long Hollow has unfortunately become a shell of it's former self. As a…read morefriend once said, "there's plenty of gatherers, not enough cultivators". The church puts so much time & effort into getting you to come to church and "committing your life to Christ" (which in itself isn't a bad thing) that it forgets an important detail: You have to CULTIVATE the seeds, ensure they grow. In my experience with the church, while they accepted me into their family, the church itself (with a few exceptions) did not help me to grow in my faith, and in fact pushed me away in several instances. The worship experience they put together each week, while glamourous and flashy, doesn't feel real. It feels scripted, and fake. Staff is moved around every other month, you never feel like you can get a personal relationship with anyone because they are always being moved around, not to mention there are so many of them. The one positive I must give to Long Hollow is the facility they have built, and continue to built. It is one of the best in the region, boasting a sanctuary of ~2,000 capacity and an overflow/chapel of ~200 more, a coffee shop, a building dedicated entirely to the students with 2 more sanctuaries, and soon to be a "community" area. In conclusion, whilst Long Hollow does have the physical amenities required to support it's large population, it lacks in several key elements that are absolutely necessary of a church. I cannot in good faith recommend Long Hollow to anyone.

Pastor Jeremy is amazing . He makes service fun and is very relatable. All the pastors here are angels. I've been prayed over and held by them along with other volunteers through a dark time and healed in so many ways spiritually. I was also baptized here after a long 2 year journey back to God. The attendees are very welcoming and service is filled with the Holy Spirit. I can see it and feel it, every service. They accept you as you are with open arms. God called me home and this just happened to be the church that made that possible for me. Thank you , Cornerstone !

The church offered many different kinds of small group opportunities. Parking lot volunteers were helpful in making sure you receive assistance, if necessary or desired. I was let down by a post-service encounter. One of the prayer partners (older woman with a Karen haircut) gave me a withering up-and-down look of disdain in the restroom during one of my Sunday morning visits. I was wearing a knee-length Boden dress, not tight jeans with a muffin top. That incident alone did not dissuade me, but it didn't help.

Before ever going to Joy Church I used to have a tag line on my email that read, "It's not about…read morereligion...it's about a relationship" and upon my first time at the church Pastor Jim stated "There's something about Joy Church I want you all to know. We aren't religious. We never have been and never will be. We are about having a relationship with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ." WOW! This guy must have been reading my email. But that was only the tip of the iceberg. I was actually ENJOYING the message he was delivering because he was funny BUT not just to be funny. He always followed it with a bible verse to back it up. Pastor Jim is a Cominister (part comedian and part minister) or he is a Ministedian (part minister and part comedian). I kept coming back. I was looking for the ego to eventually appear. I have been attending Joy for over six years now and I still haven't seen it. What I have seen are people that love you almost as much as your dog can. (They haven't started wiggling their behinds when I come in the door like my dog does, but their love, caring and hugs are a close second). So, if you want to hear the word, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you want to learn and grow in the Lord, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you just need a hug or ten, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you want to see my ORANGE car, COME TO JOY CHURCH! If you want somebody that will pray with and for you, PLEASE COME TO JOY CHURCH. Like the pastor says, if you give us a year and are all in, you won't be the same person you are now in a year's time. One other thing, if your spouse passes away, don't expect them to doing random checks in you. My husband passed 3 years ago and haven't heard from them since.
