Yummy Market does not stand behind the products that it sells. If it turns out to be bad at the point of sale, then they do not offer a refund. Instead they point at their 7 day returns policy and say no return. I purchased four blocks of Hewitt's Goat Butter from Yummy Market on the last day of February 2025. It clearly says on the wrapper to "keep frozen until use". Despite this instruction, Yummy Market keeps the product in an open refrigerator. It turns out that one of the four blocks I purchased was bad. But I did not realize this until I was ready to use the goat butter about 2.5 months later. I rode my bicycle to Yummy Market yesterday to return the bad block of butter, with the receipt. Unfortunately though, it was after 7 days so Yummys Market did not accept the return. This policy tells me that Yummy Market, a grocery store, does not stand behind its product. If the product is bad when they sell it to the end-consumer, then it is the end-consumer that foots the expense, when it should be the grocery store. Very poor service and policy. I do not recommend Yummys Market. After purchasing the product, I place the goat butter in my pannier, then cycle for about 20 minute to get home (it is cold the end of February, so very low risk the goat butter goes bad) and then I put the product directly in the freezer. The butter remains in the freezer until a few days before I am ready to use it, at which point I transfer it from freezer to fridge. I mention this because I am very confident in saying that this block of butter was already bad when I purchased it. I'll say again, I do not recommend Yummy Market. Very good deli meats and smoked fish, great selection of pickled foods and breads. The candy and sweets aisles practically send me back in time -- and set me back a hefty sum of money. The customer service is fine -- for Russian, anyway. But unfortunately I have to agree with some of the other reviews: I cannot vouch for the quality and freshness of the produce and prepared foods, and even some of the sweets can be a bit disappointing (sweets/baked goods that are packed in-house are sometimes quite dry). This place is a gem if you are looking for food items from Eastern Europe. My previous forays here were limited to picking up smoked Salmon, Caviar and some cheese from that region. However I would recommend them for their baked goods and some dessert offerings (more on that later) The place is better accessed via car but one can venture out and take TTC here as well. Located in a strange location of the main drag this is one of those you blink you miss kind of place unless you know where you are going. To give you an idea this is a tad smaller version of Starsky's grocery stores. The variety is at par with Starsky's IMO so if you don't want to venture outside Toronto this is a safe bet. Plenty of hard to find items and oh so impossible to find ingredients. I am kind of partial to less sweet and richer desserts so try and find places that sell them. However this place disappoints in this case as they carry stuff from Dufflet (meh) and Rahier (Thumbs up) which is just fine in my book. After reading the web site ad for Yummy Market's Holiday Menu, I was determined to go there before Christmas and take home a sampling of their offerings for our Christmas feast. The only thing that has kept me away from this glorious Russian supermarket is the distance. Got here at last and for the past few days we've all been eating like czars and czarinas! First thing you need to know about Yummy Market is the rye bread. The beautiful awesome set of shelves that is devoted to every possible variety of very fresh mouth watering rye bread. Healthy artisan breads with seeds, with nuts (you simply MUST try their brown walnut bread), chia bread, sunflower seed bread, the list goes on. All day long the diligent ladies of Yummy Market are stacking newly baked bread with plastic gloved hands. All day I said. Stacking, stacking, stacking. It puts your average Canadian bakery, let alone supermarket, to shame. You need not take my word for it though. There are free samples of bread available next to every loaf. It was one such sample that my husband brought to me when I was choosing tiles for the replacement bathroom at nearby Keramin that got me hooked on this place three years ago. No foodie in her right mind would turn down such bread. I could completely understand the sentiments of the young Russian lady slicing my three loaves when she said she could not bear the selection of breads at Walmart after what she was used to at home and she got badly homesick. Homesick for good bread! Yes, you will get that way too, my fellow Yelpers! Or rather, you will come home for the first time to bread as it SHOULD be. I have only touched on that one thing. That's just a hint of what's in store. There is the glorious smoked salmon, rainbow trout, sturgeon, the vast selection of salamis, gourmet prosciutto, Westphalian ham, at the digital deli counter, the imported cheeses from France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the entire aisle devoted to perogies, another aisle devoted to jams and jellies, yet another aisle devoted to teas, and oh yeah, there's the chocolate. No, not just Lindt though that's certainly there. There's quite a selection of chocolates from Vienna and Russia too. The chocolate section made ME homesick for the wonderful Polish delicatessens of my childhood in Parkdale. I grew up with all those delicatessens up and down Roncesvalles and I've been a spoiled princess about food ever since. Nothing could match the experience of those tastes. The aroma of freshly baked bread is overwhelming, I should stay away from carbs and yet I am finding myself grabbing all these loaves of rye, multigranes, white,challah .. To the right you will find the cakes, my favorite is Medovik(honey cake) and Izba (sour cherry cake) the reason I like this store is that everything is made from real ingredients and not a lot of substitutes that makes that food delicious and not that bad for you. The cakes are topped with real cream and many use natural ingredients like honey. As we walk forward you will run into the cheese, meat section. You will need your ticket # just like in Starsky. Don't pay much attention to the frown on the staffs' faces. It's an Eastern European thing. Nobody smiles there, except today I found this lady in the ready made food section that was unusually pleasant. In the ready made food section I'd recommend the shashlyk ( kebobs), blinchiki ( similar to crepes) and everything else. The food is not extreme in taste but is not bland either. It's delicious and comforting without loads of MSG in it. To the left of this section you will find the smoked fish/ caviar/ salad department. I saw today some really good looking caviar $120.00/kg.... But it was really nice. In the dairy section you will find lots of organic, local yogurt, kefir and creams. And on the rest of the isles there is lots of chocolates, candy, preserves, etc If you have never been exposed to Eastern European culture I would recommend this store as you can experience something different and if you come from Easter Europe, then Yummy market is the place to be. If you crave Russian or Ukrainian food, this place is an absolute must. It is the size of a small supermarket. The deli meat counter offers all varieties of wonderful sausages; the deli salad counter has all type of tasty morsels (I'm partial to the Armenian style eggplant - or baklazhan, as they say in Russian). The bakery offers a variety of homemade breads, rolls and pirozhky (yeast buns with savoury or sweet fillings) at very modest prices - all of exceptional quality. Frozen foods include a large variety of homemade soups and frozen berries. Additionally, the isles contain a wonderful assortment of teas, pickles (I love the Polish pattypan squash and the pickled garlic stalks), jams, bulk candies, cookies (try the Russian zephyrs - marshmallow concoction between a candy and a cookie), chocolates and more. Definitely a shopping highlight of North York. Most of the help speak reasonably fluent English and unlike some locally run supermarkets, the checkers are very professional and extremely efficient.
