They are a bit pricey, but locally made. Also, The Foot Spot has Brooks and other fantastic walking and running shoes. They can make orthotics too. But my favorite thing is the HUGE selection of Oofos!! I wear them a lot. I have slides, house shoes and sneakers by Oofos. I had to play the send it back and forth game with Zappos because the sizing is a little different. For my subsequent pairs, I will just visit The Foot Spot. Yay! Great shop and knowledgeable staff and owners.

That being said, the service is hit or miss. I actually prefer not to be hassled while I shop. So appropriately, it's okay with me if I'm ignored for the first 10 minutes while in the store. More time for me! I know this infuriates some others, but oddly, I'm okay with this scenario. It's totally weird how they only give you ONE SHOE to try on and they guard the box at the desk. But I guess this means they've seen their fare share of theft. So if you are actually serious about buying some shoes here, you must ask for the OTHER shoe to try on too. We will be making a trip back tomorrow as the shoes we bought tonight had an odd mismatch on the toe. Obviously, my daughter should have tried on BOTH shoes...at the same time. My bad!

Even though it's old and local there are some very cool things in this store. Weavers has a wide selection of many different items- clothing, makeup, shoes, home goods, luggage. From the street it doesn't look that large but it's huge inside. So much packed in this store. I always love coming here because it's the kind of store that makes you feel special. There is a personalized touch to this store and they get to know you by name. The only drawback is the parking situation and it's not Weavers fault. Parking in downtown Lawrence should be an Olympic event. However, to get the reward of going to Weavers, you gotta brave the parking downtown. The prices are very reasonable and the merchandise is very contemporary. There's something for everyone at Weavers.

The parking system up to now has been easy to navigate and validate at any shop. The new "frictionless" parking system is an obnoxious data grab, irritating to set up (I do not want to make an account for every place I park), and impossible for people who choose not to have a smartphone on them at all times (me). :) I'm sure it cost a lot to implement, but every person I've talked to has also found it frustrating. Will be ice skating elsewhere from now on and choosing alternative parking from the crown center garages whenever possible.

There are shops like Hallmark, Crayola, Starbucks, convenience store, tea store, souvenir store, Halls (luxury store, mostly expensive goods), local KC good store and so many different restaurants. The hallway connects it to entertainment places like Hallmark visitor center, Kaleidoscope, Sealife and Lego Center. In the plaza they also had ice rink and Christmas decorations. There's indoor parking, street car stop and Union station (minutes away) for guests. Throughout the day, lots of tourists, including families with kids visit this center. The restaurants have varieties like bbq, pizza and sandwiches. Sheridan's frozen custard is a really popular ice cream store. It is also connected to Westin hotel via passageway. I did struggle a bit the signs and directions. There were not clear in some corners. Security personnel are available throughout the plaza, we took some direction help from them. But overall it's a prime spot in KC.
