Downgraded my original review because of a 3.5 week gap in communication, no one seems to want to honor the quality guarantee after I paid the invoice in full. Front door was installed with a few scuffs, defects, I tried wiping them off but these are deep scratches. One scuff is right in the eye sight of the lock handle. Trying to resolve the issues by contacting the business, will update the review accordingly. Original post: Amazing staff, incredible customer service. The spring on our garage door broke so the door wouldn't stay closed or open all the way. I contacted a company that advertises on TV (I won't name the name of company). They came out with 3 estimates between $800 -$1400. Suggesting that i would need the more expensive fix. Needless to say i told them i would discuss said estimate with my husband. Well I decided i would contact A better door and window since I had used them about 6 years ago. We'll thank god for them. Their estimate was $350 including parts and labor. They came out the next day and lo and behold our door was fixed in a half hour. So glad i called them. Definitely worth the phone call! read more

I would highly recommend this location especially. I hired this company for the first time to fix my entire door frame. The installer was on time and efficient in his work. He charged me fairly for his hours- and my new door frame looks great! Seamless work and no mess left behind. As far as one of the Office Assistants, well lets just say "we all can't be up to speed." Last fall we decided to replace our front door and sidelights. We went to Better Door and Window to support one of our local companies. The company came out to install in January. To our dismay, they had ordered the wrong sized sidelights. We were quoted a price before the final contract, with half side lights, but the order went in as full sidelights, which we did not want. They said they could do nothing except to order new sidelights, which would cost us an additional $600.00, after already paying for something we didn't want. The transcription error, on the side of the sales person, was unforgivable. We will not recommend this company to any of our friends and neighbors. read more

Completely unprofessional outfit! The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Sales doesn't communicate with the workers in the field and visa versa. When they make mistakes they want to blame the customer for the fact that they didn't ask any questions. A signed quote means nothing to these people. It is almost like they want to do a bait and switch where they quote you one price and then show up and want to add on a bunch of extras because they didn't know about XYZ that they never asked about and they are supposed to be the experts!? And if they tell you they don't need to come out and measure to give you a quote that is their signature line. RUN! read more

We recently moved and had this company replace our garage door/opener and a side screen door. They have a nice showroom in Mokena so we were able to pick out what we needed and the salesman was very helpful. The estimator came out and quickly did his measurements/etc. the garage door was installed very well and within a couple weeks. The screen door was installed good but we waited for quite some time-almost two months. Only reason for four star rating instead of five. Total cost was around $2,200. We are very happy with the service and will certainly use them again. read more

I had an issue with an entry way door that it seemed like no one could solve. Someone recommended these folks, and they got it taken care of. After calling the owner with my thanks, he explained that the issue wasn't any special knowledge, it using quality materials (door and door closer), and experience with installing them. Subsequently they have installed two roll up garage doors replacing slider doors. I had been told previously that it wouldn't work. Five years later, they work like champs. Last week I needed some parts for a sliding glass door, and they had what I needed, along with some tips for doing the job right. I have never presumed to measure my own doors. They come out and will give you a free estimate. The key to a successful project is that You need to use a quality company that will sell you quality materials: This means that you will spend more than what you will at a big box. read more

On August 28, 2021 Rocky who has owned A Better Door And Window for 43 years, and loves to mention that, came to my house to tell me how much a new garage door would cost and when it would be installed. He told me that usually it would take three or four weeks but it would take eight or nine weeks as a result of delays still being attributed to the pandemic. On September 1st I went to his store and gave them a check for 50% of the cost which is required. On November 3 I called the store to ask when I could expect the door to be installed and the not so customer friendly Jessica told me that it wouldn't be until the end of January. Yes, January. Rather than bother Jessica who didn't really want to talk to me I asked her to have Rocky call me. When he called he told me there wasn't anything he could do about the delay. He also told me again how long he's been in business. When I asked why I wasn't notified, he told me they were too busy to notify me! Although Rocky has owned A Better Door for 43 years it seems he still has things to learn. While he may not be able to control when he receives my door he certainly should be able to find the time to notify me or any customer when his estimate goes from eight or nine weeks to twenty. He might even want to apologize, perhaps consider that he has $1650.00 of my money and the garage door which should be installed in my garage is who knows where. Bought a sunsetter awning in 2013 for $4579.00. As 2014 neared the end for my warranty I saw an issue with the hanging of the awning... It was just 2-3" too low. And I know this as I bought the same awning as my next door neighbor from the same guy because it was an outstanding product. But if after sales customer service is negligent what good is the product? Needless to say they never came back I called ever year and the main scheduler who now knew me, would say we are coming out I will call you for an appointment Never a call back. This year I called again! Said...look charge me a service call I gotta get this fixed. Same response.....we will call you....and then no response... I feel slighted and abandoned Called Sunsetter Awnings.. told them my plight They referred me to another dealer. And they will want feedback when that guy comes out..... On 10-17-16, I had an exterior door and storm door replaced. A Better Door & Window Company gave us an estimated time of installation. The installation technician arrived at the time quoted. The installation employee, Ron, was meticulous in his removal of the old doors, new door measurements, installation process and completed project. Ron, had a great personality and very customer friendly. All aspects of the installation process were explained. The finished product was demonstrated for our approval and keys to the doors presented to us. I know it is only one day since installation, but I feel confident this is a long lasting combination of storm door and exterior door. I asked this company to come out to give me an estimate on replacing my fourth floor condo windows. I've had issues with other window companies, as I've heard that not all companies are qualified to work on units that are above the third floor (I believe this has to do with insurance purposes). Chuck was very helpful over the phone in setting me up with an appointment right away. He was also able to give me a quick rundown of what to expect over the phone. He was very timely, and sent me an estimate the same day of my appointment. The cost was extremely reasonable compared to what I had researched. This was the only company that I met with that was able to give me a quote the same day, do the job, and actually explain to me the differences between windows (in a way that I would understand). I was extremely happy to work with A Better Door & Window and would highly recommend them. read more

Last fall we were in the process of replacing the front door of our home and went to A Better Door and Window in Mokena to get a storm door. I took the dimensions of the front door with me and they ordered a storm door for me. I was never told that is was a special order and not returnable. The contractor installed the front door and was going to install the storm door but it didn't fit. We called A Better Door and they refused to take the door back. It's a standard door in the color Sandstone so they could've easily resold it. We even offered to pay a restocking fee but they still refused. I contacted my credit card company to disput the charges. What a terrible experience! I would not recommend this company. There are many other door companies in the area that are much easier to work with. Live and learn! read more

I bought my garage door from them a couple of years ago and am glad I did. They made sure the door was the right size for the opening, did the install, made sure everything worked correctly and cleaned up. Last December I had an incident with the door and my Jeep so that the door wouldn't close.
