I was feeling nervous about my small town dentist switching and the changes that can come with a corporate office. However, some of my favorites (these women have watched me grow up) stayed with this new management - so I thought I would give it a shot. So December 2019 I go in for my 6 month cleaning and have to sign all this new paperwork and meet a couple of the new people. Cleaning goes well and I discuss some of their insurance options and pricing. I was pleasantly surprised to see more affordable pricing L. Visit goes well and I make the obligatory promise that I will have my husband eventually make an appointment. July 2020 my husband FINALLY makes an appointment - thus proving that he does exist and also to take care of his teeth. His appointment goes well and they have him on a catch up plan to get his mouth right (this man hasn't been in years). 20/10 customer service because not even a week after his appointment we received a handwritten wedding card. They were congratulating us on our recent wedding and saying how nice it was to finally meet him . If you live in Fluvanna and want an affordable dentist who makes you feel like a part of the family then look no further! Highly recommend.

In addition to state of the art techniques in the office, he gives very practical advice for optimal oral health. The office has a friendly, casual feel, and the goody bags have the absolute best dental floss! And you can get some good karma vicariously, because he provides pro-bono dental services for under-served communities, so I always liked knowing that my business helped make that possible. If I didn't live 500 miles away now, I'd still be a patient there.

Just a few examples: 1) Incompetence and negligence. I went for a routine dental exam, while being a breastfeeding mother, during this visit I was told I needed X-rays. The student began to prep me for said X-rays, thinking she was going to get a protective lead vest for me to wear, she proceeded to take the X-rays. I brought my concerns up to the staff they said they said they would "talk to her and have Dr. Breeden call", that never happened. 2) Rude, negligent, and money hungry. I called in tears with severe pain from a dental emergency. As an established patient, I was told seeking help somewhere else would be best. With out ever physically seeing my "issue", I was "referred" somewhere else, I was not offered an appointment, antibiotics, or anything other than a "you do have a balance of $89 I would be happy to take that payment now from you while you are on the phone". This is just TWO of many encounters and instances that have left me in utter disbelief. Moral of the story, if you're looking for a dental office that cares about your health...this is NOT the place you want to go.

Friendly staff, clean establishment, welcoming environment…read more I was greeted by the friendliest reception and front desk staff. They all smiled and was pleasant towards me. They were speaking on the phone to other patients and kept a friendly and calm demeanor and tone. I met with the dental hygienist Amanda H. and she was so patient and kind. I expressed that I was a coward and she was so compassionate and she had a gentle hand. She explained every step of the process and put my mind at ease. After a short while, Dr. Wong came in and did his examination. He was so nice and had the best bedside manner. He was efficient and thorough and answered all my questions. This is a place that I would highly recommend.

I was beyond unhappy with my experience here…read more The good part is that it is a lovely office and a lot of the people here are very friendly. The front desk staff is amazing. The not so good part is a bit lengthier unfortunately and sort of based on my personal experience. A little back story is that I'm a disabled vet, so generally, all of my care is handled at the VA hospital. Occasionally, when they are very backed up and overwhelmed, they will outsource you to a place in town and foot the bill for it though. Enough back story... Last year, I needed to have a new oral appliance (think like a retainer) made for my sleep apnea when my old one was damaged and the VA sent me here. This place gets the referral from the VA and I have my appointment to come in to have the imprint/mold made to make the appliance. Awesome! Except... they won't make the mold until they do a cleaning. Fair enough. It has been about a year since my last one. Let's do it. But wait... It is going to be a BIG job, so they want to break it up into two deep cleaning sessions and only do half of my mouth each time. *Sigh* Okay. Whatever gets me closer to being able to sleep again. Two separate cleaning appointments later and I go back for another appointment to have my imprint made and, wouldn't you know, I have a cavity that needs filling and they can't make the imprint until after that gets filled. *Annoyed sigh* After that filling, they can't make my imprint because they aren't happy with one of my previously done fillings, and can't (or won't) make it until after they rip out the filling that is already there and redo it. *Frustrated grunt* But they handle all the insurance stuff with the VA, so I just let them do it. I am still in UNBEARABLE pain a week later. I call because at this point, I am pretty sure they messed something up with the filling because even my wisdom teeth removal stopped hurting after two days. They will happily schedule me to come in and check if they messed up... After they clear it with my insurance and receive confirmation for payment. Which was the first time I actually got upset because I am in constant pain, still can't sleep, and they are charging to see if they messed up... Everything gets cleared up and I finally get to go back in after they are sure they will get paid. Obviously they say they did everything right, but they want to schedule another appointment for me to see about a root canal or extraction. But, they will not make my imprint until after I take care of that tooth that is "not messed up". At this point, my perception is that they were intentionally drawing out services to get the VA to pay for them. Whether or not that is actually the case, I still had to reach out to the VA, who did agree that it felt like I was being strung along and was no closer to getting the imprint for my sleep device. They immediately sent me to someone else who DID make the imprint and the device and I was finally able to sleep about 1.5 months later. Again, this is just my perception of my experience here, but I am very happy that I was not the one having to pay for every single appointment, especially a follow-up when I was pretty sure they messed it up.
