I was really excited about visiting the store after seeing the YouTuber PhoenixResale highlight it in his Texas game stores video. When I came into the store I wasn't welcomed in by anyone which didn't set a friendly precedent. I couldn't distinguish between the customers and the employees that worked there. I think they should wear a color coded shirt and name tag to help distinguish them from everyone else. I started asking different questions to the employee at the front desk, but he seemed always bothered every time I approached. Looked like a new guy. He said he hadn't been there for very long. Doesn't seem like he wants to be there. Maybe he was having a bad day? He seemed to be in physical pain or something from my impression. The one old guy with the long beard was super nice and helpful. The girl working there didn't seem to be doing anything but standing around. Just felt awkward. I got asked way too many times by the guy at the front desk if I needed help finding anything, one time is enough, I don't need to be bothered five times. Doesn't help make a customer feel welcome. Maybe a short friendly conversation about a game they enjoy or are looking for will be more encouraging and welcoming to the customer. Disclaimer: This part of my review about Culture Shock isn't a knock against GameBros, but wanted to leave this bit in my review since the stores are combined it was part of my impressions. I browsed around and could see that the store floor was mixed with Culture Shock. They had way too many funco pops. I know some people are really into that, but literally every customer that walked in was totally disinterested including myself and would go straight for the games or other toys and figures in the back. Pretty big waste of space for items that will hardly be sold. Back to Gamebros, they had a really neat display of some rare video games, but so many of them were ridiculously overpriced. I just don't see any average person coming in to buy that stuff. Why even have it on display if nobody plans on buying it? I tried looking for some PS1 and PS2 games, but unfortunately couldn't find any I was looking for. I guess high demand games like Crash Bandicoot 3, Crash Bash and Ratchet and Clank games get sold really fast. I found some N64 games and Super Nintendo games. The N64 ones seemed to be fairly priced, some of the N64 and Super Nintendo ones were way overpriced though probably due to high demand and popularity. I definitely would not pay those prices and most other customers would feel the same. Prices for the original Xbox and Wii games were great, as well as the PS3. Overall, I give the store a 6/10. A more welcoming atmosphere and friendly positive customer service from the employees will encourage people to come back. I ended up spending around $100, so they got some of my business. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon though. read more

I come here from time to time to see if they have anything different from the other game stores around town, from time to time they do. They're a bit more expensive than GameStop and Game X Change. Today, I came in to see if they had any N64 consoles. I walked into the store and there was an employee sitting behind the counter that didn't acknowledge my existence. After getting lost in mountains of funko pop figures, I finally walked up and asked if they had any N64 systems and he looked up from his phone long enough to say "no" before going back about his business. With this type of customer service, it's amazing that this store stays open. I definitely won't be back. read more

Just be respectful and welcoming to customers. It's not that hard. Nobody expects you to kiss the ground the customers walk on, but whenever I enter the store and greet you, don't just look up at me and then put you're head back down to your phone. Now, am I offended that a man who is working at a video game store in this thirties didn't say "Hello" to me? No. What does bother me is that a grown adult lacks the ability to even PRETEND to be cordial and polite for the sake of business. I've been there a handful of times and this one in particular person is usually always very rude. I call there looking for Mario cart and they had it. He told me before I came that it was 50$ but the art was very faded. I get there not only was it faded it was tore. I look up the value and its going for 37$ online. So I offered 30 cause its condition and dude got rude telling me not to waste his time. Needless to say I'll never go back read more

I was referred here by my brother who lives in close by this shop. It warms the heart to see hardcore nostalgic gamers doing business in something that they love. I remember doing trades with these guys back when they would run their business out of their house and buying n trading via Craigslist. They sure have come a long way. They picked a great location and their prices most of their games are fair. The times I have gone by to purchase stuff I tend do buy multiple items and ask if they can wheel n deal a bit. They usually can depending on what I bring in to trade. The store is categorized nicely so it's easy to find what your looking for by system and by alphabet. Of course they keep the choice stuff in the glass cases and I can't blame them, lol! They buy, sell and trade just about every system you can think of when it comes to old school gaming. NES, SNES, Turbo Grafx, Sega, Playstation, Dreamcast.. lots more. They've helped me locate quite a few titles for the heirloom NES collection I am building for my kids. What set them apart is how courteous and genuinely attentive they are to each customer. They give you their undivided attention and help you in any way they can. There were times where I would just be in the store and watching them work and I'd think "Wow.. that's how you take care of a customer." In a business model that is usually full of game snobs and retro hoarders, these guys leave their egos at home and focus on meeting their customer's needs without elitist attitude. So many gamestore employees are usually too busy playing or talking with their friends to take care of a real customer, but not here. And as long as they always put their lifeblood customers first I am sure they will continue to do well. Oh and they have a sweet Neo Geo Street Fighter 5 mash up cabinet for customer to play and practice on. It's a nice addition to the local retro gaming scene and I hope they continue to do well. I truly can't speak highly enough about Game Bros. I drove over an hour to check the place out and I left with 12 games ranging from the NES to the N64. All of the items are in great condition. Also, the manager was incredibly personable and loved his job. There was no doubt that he was incredibly passionate about what he does. The prices were great and they negotiated with me on a couple items. They also threw in plastic cases for my boxes free of charge. I can't recommend this place enough! These guys are really great and the store have so many pops and even harder to find ones too. They keep the place well organized and easy to browse. I'm now a regular that comes every Friday just to see if there's anything new that comes in. Located between the Deer Park and La Porte border, this is a small shop in the shopping center next to Chili's, and it is full of video game nostalgia. I have made a few purchases here and each time i was greeted promptly and was offered assistance. The staff that i have personally dealt with here seemed to be very knowledgable and willing to work a deal with you on trade-ins. If you're looking to add to your collection or begin one from scratch i would say that game bros would be a good place to start! read more
