I would give zero stars if I could. This was my first visit at game stop and it was to purchase the new Xbox hello neighbor game 12/8/17..we got it home and it loaded and played fine for several weeks. One day it just stopped working and we trouble shooted and couldn't get the disc to play. I went to exchange it at the same GameStop and was told since I couldn't find my receipt that they couldn't exchange it for another one. I was never told I could join a membership and that would have been a way to look up the receipt. I thought if a game worked several weeks that there wouldn't be future issues. I'm not a gamer, this was for my grandson but was told no exceptions..$30 out and a sad grandson, never shopping at GameStop again nor throwing a receipt away! read more

I was buying a M rated game one time and as I went to pay I told my younger sibling to hold the video game for me so I could reach for my wallet then the cashier was saying that I couldn't purchase it because it was M rated and he was a minor that a legal guardian had to buy it!!? Full disclosure, I'm an ex-employee. I loved working here. Management created a culture of high-quality service. Costumer service was primary above all else. If I was running a business, I would prioritize it the same way. I was always pleased with new staff arrivals because the hiring process was very specific about certain qualities they looked for in a new employee, mainly empathy, hard working and knowledge about games! Basically cool people to work with and it showed in the costumer base which was equally awesome. I just wish we had more time to chat with all the awesome people that came in. I come to this GameStop quite often and never had any problems until today. So I came in yesterday and was told that a specific item that I wanted was not available to be put on hold, and it would be sold on a "first-come first-serve" basis when shipment arrives. Well guess what happened when I came in the following day (today), like literally when they opened? The item was on hold for someone already...smh. Like, are you serious? The staffs are a joke, specifically Thomas and I believe Branden was the other guy's name. They were so confident with explaining the store policies but obviously don't know how to follow them...all in all, terrible service from their part. read more

Every time I'm looking for a nearby game store, Gamestop is my go-to. Their selection is decently varied and I usualy find what I'm looking for. The employees are also nice and do not feel like generic, soulless workers. In sort, I enjoy this place and the service they bring, they might not be the best, but I feel they deserve a bit more than the one star reviews they've been getting. read more

This place is pretty awesome. Pros: - Most of the employees are really awesome and friendly, especially David and Patricia(hope I spelled that right). - They have great knowledge of most of the games. - Fairly priced games for well, games. - The fact you can trade in games for store credit. Yes I know the whole "oh they rip you off" thing, but it's better than not being able to at all. - Their "Return policy" for used games is amazing. Long story short, get a used game that's $50, beat it within 7 days, return it and get to use your $50 on another game. Obviously you can't do this back to back on the same receipt or they'd be out of business, but doing that once saves your money on a game that has no replay value. - When you are buying a game, they don't just sell it to you, most of the time they will talk about it, give you an incite on the game if you are unsure about it, and make you feel welcomed into the store. - They will let you know on any trade in offers, or buying offers that are coming up when you go there. - The games are alphabetized, and they keep it in check, even when the customers mess it up all the time. - Midnight releases are usually quick and organized, unless it's a Call of Duty release, then the midnight release is a con. Cons: -Not all of the employees are as amazing as David or Patricia, some are like "Oh goodness, not him/her. As in they forget about the trade in bonus, or they don't help out with the bonus's and screw you out of a couple of dollars. Also they don't give you that welcome experience. - If you are trying to buy a game in a hurry, just straight up say you don't want to here about any upcoming pre-orders, trade in offers, or anything like that because they are required to tell you about each and everyone. It's not really a con to me, but I know a lot of people can't stand it. There's this one employee that gets on my nerves with that, they would go on and on about each and every single one, even when I say no. - Call of Duty midnight releases. Honestly, just get the game the next day, you can sleep and get it. The last two midnight releases I have been to that were COD were a disaster. No organization, too many uncooperative people, and just too ridiculous. Yes it's pretty cool they have all of these props, events, and giveaways, but it's too much if you just want to get the game and leave. Which is what I want to do, I rather spend my day doing whatever, instead of waiting in line for 4 hours to get a game. Summary: Great service if you get the right employees, awesome return policy, fairly priced, bonus's. Not so great midnight releases, can get a bad employee. read more

I popped in here awhile ago to buy a cheap headset for the xbox, it was like 10 dollars the first time i bought it. I go back just the other day to get one for a friend and its now 17 bucks. but when i asked for them to get it out of the locked shelf the guy was up front and totally honest with me and told me that ross sells them for like 8 bucks. I was actually pretty shocked to hear that, as a customer about to make a purchase at this store i was totally blown away by his honesty and the fact that he wanted to get me the best deal possible even it meant that the purchase wouldn't be made at his own store. I ended up buying it there anyway cause i was already there and had the money, but thank you so much for letting me know that. I'm glad to know that this gamestop employee has the best interest of the customer in mind. read more

Staff is usually pretty cool but this place is the hitler of the video game world. You buy a brand new 65$ game and the very next day go to return it and they say no but they'll give you like 17$ in store credit. Place is the only place really for games so Ofcourse everyone goes there. But place is a huge rip off. read more

If you're a female gamer you're apparently not welcome here at this location. This Gamestop's employees sadly perpetuate the idea that women have no place in the gaming or anime culture. I'm absolutely livid by the way I was treated at my most recent visit. What's worse, this isn't the first time this has happened at this location. A year back I was in a similar situation with another associate. I had let that first time roll off, I figured it was just a bad employee that they hired that wouldn't last long. But for it to happen a second time, with a new employee and to this degree of disrespect is absolutely unacceptable. To be confronted with such sexism when all I wanted to do was buy a game greatly disturbs me. Get your shit together Gamestop and stop hiring manchildren to run your registers. My god, I can only imagine what your female employees have to deal with if this is how your "men" treat paying customers. I would give the store 0 stars if possible. The store is constantly understaffed. I was in the store on 11/9 and it had 2 registers open. Than one of the employees stop working the register to play with some cords behind the counter. He was not helping a customer with these items I can only assume he was tired of helping customers using this as an excuse to take a break. Now at this time there were at least 10 of us in line. I left and placed my order with Amazon. The games I wanted will be shipped free and arrive on the release date with pre-order bonuses. I will never shop at Gamestop again. I was in to purchase an Xbox 1 console and reserve 3 new games. Now Amazon got my business. I went to Gamestop.com and they were charging shipping on the games seperate for each one with a 7 day ship time. Amazon was free shipping. read more

I went in to get a used 360 and had done my research on their website so I knew what was generally available. I wanted to cruise the 3ds section first with my son and on the display of preowned 360 boxes was an ad for an additional $30 off. I inquired about it and was told it applied to all preowned 360's. I asked the associate if they had any black elite models and he went to check. Unfortunately they did not so after a little discussion I decided on an old white system with a 2 year warranty. We discussed what the total price would be with the special and rung everything up. I went to pay but the total was too much. We reviewed the order and found that the 360 had rung up at $99 instead of the advertised $79. I know this doesn't sound like much but it made the difference between buying an older console and saving up for a newer one. I was informed that the system had bumped the price up to then have the $30 off special. I was disappointed and decided to cancel the sale because it was no longer worth it. Another associate was in on the discussion and decided to call the manager on duty about the discrepancy. She was able to correct the error in my case and make the sale. I walked out with a quality system with a warranty and peace of mind. This is why I go to GameStop. The associates are knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and willing to go the extra bit to make customers happy. You can get games and equipment anywhere but service like this is why I come back every time. read more

what can I say, gamestop is awesome. the employees at this location are always knowledgeable about games and systems. they always offer pretty order reminders and they don't try to shove products down your throat. they simply mention them so you know what's available. also the process for picking up your pre orders is quick and painless. they give you group numbers IF YOU GO DURING THE REQUIRED TIMES and then they just call the groups up to get the games. 5 stars, recommend the serious gamers go here. read more

Today me and my fiancé went up to Alex, a cashier, and politely asked if we can trade in some items for cash. We were very aware of the fact that trading in items isn't the easiest transaction but that doesn't give Alex the right to make us feel like we are an inconvenience. When we first told him what we wanted to do he rolled his eyes, looked at his coworker and said," I'm never going to take my lunch" As he did an inspection on all of our items he did not communicate with us, gave everyone attitude, and made us feel like we weren't wanted. Eduardo, another cashier, even provided better customer service to us even though he wasn't assisting us. In the end Alex was very sarcastic and complained throughout the entire transaction. Tip: if you live in Antioch, it's more worth it to go to Brentwood's GameStop, it's almost guaranteed that they have your game in stock and they would be happy to assist you. read more
