There was literally 2 employees and a packed store. Yet, only one employee was helping and the other girl was just putting games away. She literally wasn't turning around while the one girl helping every single person while trying to help a customer who was already there. Definitely in need of more staff. Was in there for 15 mins just to get a controller. Refused the insurance because it's the only GameStop in Harlem and it's terrible. Won't be back. I'll order online from now on. read more

Unprofessional The store is incredibly small so you can clearly see everyone. No one greeted me upon my entrance and ignored me until I had to finally say something. I had been standing there for two minutes waiting to speak to someone. Then the associate had a sorry excuse for his poor customer service. I don't recommend this location. read more

I don't really shop at Gamestop but I came here with a friend so they can buy headphones. This place had about 4-5 people working but we spent about 45 minutes on line just to buy headphones. The only good thing is the headphones were reasonably priced. The store is small and pretty unorganized but some of the staff are helpful and interactive. Went here to get a PS5. They tried to force me to become a pro member and buy the warranty which together came out to $100 more than the actual console price. Would not sell me the console otherwise. Told me these were the rules of the store. I went online while in the store showed them the correct price and bought it for in-store pick up. So far, it has taken them 5 hours to accept and fill the order...I'm still waiting. The store was not busy. Will be returning the console and never coming here again. How do you have 2 workers in the back and only one person in the front handling customers with multiple orders, multi questions and the line in front of the store by herself. While when one from the back finally comes out, they want to have an attitude. While walking out with a chase Funko pop. This is why y'all are going out of business. How do you want business but alienate your customers. 15mins outside then 20mins inside while not even acknowledging your other customers in the store. HORRIBLE!!!! Me and my girlfriend came in to purchase a controller and a game. Prior to our purchase we waited 30 mins in line just to purchase our things. There were 2 employees on the line who were moving incredibly slow with no care. One of the employees spoke very rude while asking the following customer to step down. The other employee we went to make our purchase with was very nice and very attentive. The only problem with this employee was she gave me an game case WITH NO GAME INSIDE and we didnt realize it until we got all the way home. The only reason why i gave it one star was because out of all this trama i got a smile out of one of the employees! read more

This place is sad, gloomy and depressing. Only a few workers work there and most of the time there just chatting away. They barely have any other gift cards and they seem to never restock ever. It's just really sad, not to mention there the only gamestop in upper manhattan that still left, and then you gotta go all the way down to midtown. I love video games but I don't like spending a lot of money on them. It should therefore come as no surprise that I love Gamestop. The big draw of any Gamestop is that they sell (and buy) used games at heavily discounted prices. I'm not going to pay $60 for any game. I'll wait a couple of months and pick up a used version for around $20. Yes, many of them are crappy games that aren't fun to pay for any price, but there are some great finds here. If you absolutely hate the used game you bought, you can return it- yes, I'm serious. They sell new games here too, sometimes for $10 less than in any of the outlet stores. If you pre-order games, they often come with perks like special characters or cheat codes. This Gamestop is not huge but it's definitely the best one in Harlem. There's one in Manhattanville and one in El Barrio (not listed in the Yelp directory but it's around 118th and 2nd) but don't bother. The Central Harlem location has the best selection and the cheapest prices. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable- you can tell they're gamers. read more

This is a small location, but they have a pretty decent selection for their sizes. Prices are less than you would find elsewhere, especially with the used games. The staff has been friendly every time I have come in to get games. I prefer this location to the other gamestop location on 125th because this place seems to be less crowded and has a nicer/more knowledgeable staff. read more

Facing a global pandemic, the 2 employees on staff were able to keep the store running as usual and implement new health code rules while doing so. They encouraged everyone on the long line to space apart and they told incoming customers to wait outside until a couple transactions happened so the store wouldn't get overcrowded. I appreciated their willingness to think of public health while performing their jobs at a highly efficient level under duress. read more

I went to buy something for a promotion, I needed to get an item to get something in return. I was looking for the cheapest item to get, when I asked an associate for help they told me that there was nothing in stock that I needed to get something which was more expensive after I left I went online and ordered an item for pickup and it clearly showed that they had more items in stock that were cheaper. Worst checkout experience. I went in to buy a giftcard for my nephew. Went to checkout and paid with my Samsung Pay app. Followed the usual prompts, one of which is to present the cashier with the electronic card to verify amd enter the security code. Cashier tells me that she "needs the physical card next time". No, you don't. The info is on the electronic card I presented to her. Why would I need to present the phyical card when Samsung Wallet and the credit card company have created the electronic version of it for their secure app? If i present you with the physical card, it will not be the same card number nor security code....so then you're gonna give ne a hard time with them not matching... If you're not going to accept electronic wallets, like Samsung Pay, deactivate the option. Otherwise, I will use it rather than carry and pull out my wallet and money and credit cards in a tight behind store where there's no room to maneuver and risk losing my wallet or being pick-pocketed. She said, 'next time, you'll need to bring the card.' She can forget that, because there will be no next time at this location. Gamestop, you need to look into this 'requirement'. If you don't accept the mobile pay apps, then you don't accept them. But my payment was accepted by your register, therefore, make the decision to either accept this payment option and train staff on how to handle these types of payments OR simply don't accept it and advise customers of your requirement to present the physical card with each transaction. read more

I really like this GameStop. Even though it is smaller than the other one on 125th street i find it less crowded. The staff are nice and knowledgeable. They ares cheaper than other GameStops, and most importantly, they usually have the games I want in stock. read more
