I had an awful experience at this Game Stop today. I came in to pickup my pre-ordered game Tekken 8. I anticipated that was going to walk out of the store for a game I pre-ordered a year in advance. The associate Eric told me that they only received one copy of the game and the corporate did not send enough copies to the store. He stated that the only copy that had was for another person named Tanya that she had just pre ordered that game that same day. So you telling me that I can't pick up my game that I pre ordered a year in advance and said they had to send us to another GameStop to pickup my game. The GameStop they sent us to was the wrong GameStop and ended up having to go to three gamestops on a game that I pre ordered. The associate at the Peninsula Town Center location was very dismissive with when came there and realized that we went to the wrong location. I'm not going to ever come back to this GameStop location, every time I come to this location to pickup my games, I always have an issue with the staff or them opening up the store late. If a manager or corporate can contact me back after seeing this, it will be greatly appreciated because this location has lost a customer for GOOD!!!! read more

I had a great experience at this Game Stop recently. My 7 year old declared that all of our Nintendo Switch controllers were "yuck." One set was clearly busted, and after looking around on the internet, I discovered the other set had stick drift. I'd just bought these joy-cons less than six months ago! But here's the silver lining -- I purchased them in Blacksburg at the Game Stop there and they included a warranty for an additional $10. I anticipated I was not going to be able to use this here in Newport News and was prepared to ship the damaged controllers to my parents for them to exchange there. BUT, NO WORRIES! The staff at this store took the warranty and handed me a new set of joy-cons (prettier colored ones too!) free of charge. The only problem was that the store in Blacksburg didn't explain that the $10 covered only one pair. So one of the pairs I couldn't replace for free, but was able to purchase a new set. They had a lot of choices for colors and styles on hand in stock. Now we have four new, shiny controllers with warranties and we'll see how they hold up. It's totally worth the upgrade for the warranty! read more

This store is the main one I shop at. They have great prices and wonderful customer service. Today we came in because our PS3 controller we had bought at an earlier date stopped working after only a few uses. We got it replaced with no hassle, which is fantastic. Thank you guys so much. Their selection is amazing, 99% of the time they have what I'm looking for, hence why I come to this one. The woman who checked us out was very friendly, explained how the game we had just bought worked, Diablo 3 ultimate edition(it comes with an extra chapter). She asked us if we wanted to pre-order any thing and gave us a little card for a Pokemon redemption on one of the games we owned. Very friendly thank you for your great service! read more

You be the judge , on. Sat evening Dec 10thd 2016 I along with my two. S ns experiencd a suttle bait and switch scenario !!! . This is what happened . During the previous weekend, my wife and two boys 10.,12. Explained their desire to trade. - in a.n Xbox 360 4 gigabyte system with 10 games . The sales associate informed them at the game consoles trade-in value one $65 not including the 10 games !!! Now , back to 12-10 16. the boys and I resent the what the 10 games . which are an excellent condition as per. the sales associate. . I will admit the fact that my wife did not inform me of the quote of $65 for the Xbox 360 , which was my fault. !!! The boys purchased a new Xbox 1 s for 299.00. Plus tax. . GameStop received. in - trade 8 games plus. the Xbox 360 and On. controller and also presented a $30 GameStop redemption card !!! 65.00 + 30.00 +8.00. = 103.00. but received $40. . my wife went to The Game Stop Newmarket Plaza. to be toid sorry their was nothing can be done, and the Xbox 360 has already been sold. !!! SMELL"S like they ripped off two children. what's your opinion ??? read more

My favorite GameStop. I love the staff who work there. They are friendly nice an willing to help with anything. I'm they're friend not just a customer. Been going here for 5+ years. Usually find what I'm look for but if they don't have it in Stock they can always look up the closes place to have it. read more
