This GameStop made me never want to go back to a GameStop again. I spent hours upon hours going to different stores looking for a PS4 game for Christmas. I called multiple GameStop locations to see if they had it and kept being told they didn't after their inventory systems saying that they did. The other location employees told me that there were 2 copies listed at the Niles location but to call and make sure. So I called the Niles location yesterday and the employee who picked up, I spoke to him and asked if they had the game. He told me that they did and I asked him if he was sure because I was over an hour away from their location. He said that he double checked again and assured me that they had the game I was looking for in stock. So I drove all the way to the Niles location having to sit through horrible traffic (which made it at least an hour and a half just to get there), I go inside, let him know I was the one who called about the game, then he checks the drawer behind him, looks at me ands says "oops, I'm sorry. We actually don't have it." I have never been more frustrated with a GameStop in my life. The other locations I called KNOW that their inventory systems are terrible and that they're faulty. All he had to do on the phone with me was turn around and CHECK THE DRAWER. HOW DID HE NOT THINK TO CHECK THE DRAWER FIRST?! I don't think I'm buying a game from GameStop ever again after this. What a fucking moron holy hell. I can't believe I even have to say this, but GameStop, please train your employees on how to check the drawers for inventory before telling your customer you have something. I wasted a lot of time and gas to get there just for the employee to act like it wasn't an issue. The worst part of it is I highly doubt GameStop will provide me any kind of discount or anything at all for that matter other than a pre-written response from the owner or management. To be specific it was on Wednesday (12/14/22) and it was around 5:40PM. Do yourself a favor and don't go to GameStop, because you'll find 10 other options that are actually helpful. Never in my life have I had such a horrible experience trying to get a video game from a store who's one job is to fucking SELL VIDEO GAMES. Pre-ordered merchandise that was cancelled on me without my consent. Fine, I get that, it's a pandemic shit happens. Instead of a refund I just asked if they would re-order it for me. The associate "Mike" I believe (and I could have gotten the name wrong) refunded it to a gift card and then re-ordered it with that gift card. 1 week later, I am told that this order was ALSO cancelled without my consent. I called the store asking for a refund. They told me to call their corporate number. I did, and was on hold for 3 hours, in which I learned 2 things from a "Larry" 1. No, I didn't have to call them, I need to call the store to handle it (but they told me to call you, so if I call them back and they tell me to call you will I be on hold for 3 more hours? 2. He said that it was already refunded to the store (the gift card earlier mentioned) and that there was nothing he could do. So it is my understanding, that this Gamestop has employees that will refund your merchandise without your permission and pocket your money. I will be filing a consumer complaint with the Better Business Bureau and getting a charge back on my card since you don't seem to care to fix this yourselves. I will not be shopping at this Gamestop nor any other now, not because of what happened, but because of how this was handled at every level from the store, to customer service, to management. read more

I've been going to this Gamestop since it was Funcoland in the early '90s. It's progressively gotten worse throughout the years, which is a reflection of Gamestop's increasingly annoying policy of smashing consumers over their heads with every "hot" upcoming game release. It really can be unbearable when you show up to pay for something and the clerk behind the desk goes into obligatory sales-pitch mode. It's one thing to ask if I want to preorder a game. It's quite another to ask me three more times, "Are you sure you don't want to preorder it?" The trade-in value for used games is beyond embarrassing at Gamestop (especially if you want straight cash versus store credit, which is never worth it), but that's how it's always been. It helps to wait for one of their special trade-in offers so you can get an extra percentage back on top of whatever they feel your games are worth. Gamestop is a necessary evil, I suppose. I do enjoy the midnight launches when I *must* have a game or console as soon as possible. I've been to two of them at this location and they've gone smoothly without any real wait-times. But unless you need the game at midnight (a rarity), Amazon is a better place to shop. Customers receive the same type of bonus preorder content that Gamestop offers in addition to $10 and $20 credits for use with future purchases. It's nice that parents can visit Gamestop with their kids and perhaps get a little more informed about what they're purchasing versus going to a place like Best Buy or Walmart. But on the flip side, some Gamestop employees have long been notorious for exhibiting unabashed favoritism toward specific games or hardware. The employees at this particular store are all decent and helpful enough except for one young kid who exudes a type of conceit that belies his awkward pre-pubescent appearance. As part of my continued arrested development, I recently bought my friend's 360, after he bought a Wii, (it's a vicious cycle.) I thought I'd drop BOTH of my old systems and get some money and/or credit for 360 games. The credit option is definitely better, otherwise you get ripped off pretty badly. Any place that buys/sells games is obviously going to lowball you but the staff is pretty straight-forward with you. The guys working there are pretty cool, I assumed them to be fastidious, Comic Book guyesque nerds...they weren't that fastidious. I am sick of Gamestop employees trying to screw me out of my money. I recently went in to trade in some games and put the credit toward a preorder for the special Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 2. The first Mass Effect is my favorite game of all time, so you can imagine that I am excited for the sequel and I want the best version that they sell. When I got there, they took my games and offered me $40 toward the preorder. That was more than I thought I would get so I definitely took it. This is where the problems started. They couldn't find the version of Mass Effect that I wanted in the computer. They looked for a while and knew what I was talking about, but it just wasn't in the system. So, they put my credit toward the regular edition and told me to call 4 days before it comes out so that they can hold a copy for me when they get them in. Ok fine. This weekend I call, and lo and behold, they don't have any. So I go in to the store to get my money and cancel the preorder and they give me this runaround that since I traded in games, I can't get cash. It has to be store credit. YOU BUY PEOPLE'S GAMES EVERY DAY! I can't get my money back because your employee lied to me when I made the preorder!? So now I have a Gamestop credit that I assure will not be spent at the Village Crossing store. read more

Went in to pre-order a game a couple weeks ago, and as I returned last week to pick it up, there was much unusual havoc. Turns out the cashier pre-ordered the wrong version (PS3 instead of XBOX) and I wasn't able to get my bonus code. Also, they ripped me off by not honoring my reservation payment. Sales associates were pretty rude and condescending. It looks like the staff haven't been adequately trained in using the register as well as customer service. The employees themselves are very underpaid for the amount of work they do. I worked for them for almost 4 years and did my best and never saw a raise. After a long day of work all I wanted to do was play the game I paid for in advance and was "guaranteed" to have. They said they'll have it the next day but that's still annoying and completely buzz killed me. The lady that worked there was cool amd said she would call me when it came in. I usually go to the one in Golf Mill and i lost my card (my entire wallet was stolen) and i asked if i can get it replaced and they said no, i came in here and he helped me find some games, told me about promotions, and then i asked about the card and he game me a number. IT TOOK 30 SECS TOPS TO GET THEM TO SEND A NEW CARD OUT. ive been without it for a year and a half already. read more
