This review is not specific to this store. I purchased an expensive POKÉMON game through GameStop online. It is defective. The divots in the disc surface were not identified until after my nephew opened his gift and found that it didn't work. They refused to even exchange since I was outside the very narrow return or exchange window they have in place. I had no way of checking it before this window expired since I do not have a GameCube console. I found a place that tried to resurface it twice and it still did not work. I thought I could trust GameStop rather than some other online source for used games, but I guess not. I will not return to GameStop for future purchases for my nephew. read more

Went into the store today with my wife, son and sister in law to trade in some old games and purchase a new game. We spoke with the employee at the cash register and handed him the old games. The employee began scanning the games into his computer and we stood at the counter waiting for him to complete his work and tell us an amount so we could purchase the new game. Out of the blue the employee looked at my son and said "s'up?" My son responded, "nothing". The employee then said in an aggressive tone "why are you starring at me?" My son responded "I'm not." The employee, now agitated, then said "don't stare at me." Trying to calm the employee down I said "easy now, it's ok." The employee looked at me and said " I can either tell him not to stare at me or to stare at me and I'm telling him not to stare at me." The entire exchange happened in a matter of seconds and came out of nowhere, so my family was all more shocked at what had just occurred than anything. My son said just give us our games back we aren't trading anything. We started walking toward the door as I did not want things to escalate, and I could hear the employee continue to speak in an antagonistic manner to my son as we exited the store. There was another adult and young child in the store when this happened and they saw and heard the entire incident. We made a complaint to GameStop corporate office a short time later. I looked at google and Yelp and it appears we are not the only people to have these types of experience with this employee. I don't know what is wrong with this guy but he definitely does not need to be in a job where he interacts with customers. I won't speculate on what is wrong with him, you can read other reviews. we ordered a refurbished Nintendo Switch. it was supposed to arrive in 2-3 business days. it took almost 2 weeks and several emails that were generic replies back. We asked to cancel the order, then lo and behold it ships! It arrives in a box with parts just rattling around, sounds like no protection inside the box. I went with my son today to trade in a few consoles and games. The gentleman who was working today was odd, it was one of the strangest interactions I have had in my life. I purchased a graded card from there App. After couple weeks and many phone calls all they can tell me is it's processing still then one employee said they don't have any and do not know when I would receive my card. Please read my story to avoid having to file a lawsuit. Here's my story On Mar 23rd, near the end of Game Stops business day, I was one of many customers awaiting assistance from Lawrence. Once it was my turn, Lawrence was helpful. I explained that while I am not a gamer, we prefer to buy locally to support local businesses. We were considering a Nintendo Switch for occasional nostalgic gameplay usage as my adult children grew up playing Lego Star Wars and other Lego games on a Sony PS2. Lawrence recommended the white edition Nintendo Switch. Lawrence suggested other games, such as Lego Star Wars, which was not in stock. I added that my kids may not even want this system at all, to which Lawrence said the game is returnable. I found another Basketball-related game that may be interesting to get for now to see how it goes. As usual, while the transaction was being processed, there were offers of a screen protector and a warranty, to which I explained that it would just be a console if we kept it. Then Lawrence mentioned some kind of store loyalty subscription, to which I replied that we weren't gamers. I stopped by Walmart on the way home to see if the Lego Star Wars was in stock, and fortunately, it was. Now, I had a game that my kids grew up playing. When I got home and set this up, I was surprised it was not shrink-wrapped like most small electronics today. Again, internally, nothing was sealed, which seemed odd. This Nintendo Switch had some difficulty with the Sony TV...possibly related to an HDMI connector provided with the Nintendo Switch. I fiddled with it, and it seems to work for now. As I started to test it out, I found that the Lego Star Wars game had evolved and is far more realistic than it was with our Sony PS2 years ago. The bad part was that they triggered nausea and vertigo, rendering it unusable as I was now struggling with vertigo and nausea all night and into the next two days. On Mar 24th, I stopped by Game Stop on my way back from seeking urgent care and remedies for nausea to return the game. I explained what happened to the person I was talking to, who said their name was Alan and refused to return it. Alan was the only employee at the store and said it could not be returned because it had been opened. I complained that this was never disclosed and is not posted on the outside of the store, the display case for the console or games, and despite explaining that we may not keep it the night before, Lawrence explained that the game was returnable with no mention of anything not being returnable. Alan called his manager, who would not allow the return either. I continued to complain, and Alan took down my information and said the manager or owner would call me the next day. Alan stated they could return the unopened basketball-related game. The return receipt for the basketball-related game said the cashier's name was Christopher. On Mar 25th, there was no phone call from the Game Stop. read more

I wish i could give this specific store 0 stars. Went in for a trade and the individual (who i beleive to be lawrence) behind the desk was a horror. He was mumbling under his breath the whole transaction and we could not understand a word he said. After one instance he got very upset and started getting aggressive. I hate to assume, but he seemed under the influence or seemed very mentally ill... After this experience i have to say please do not go into this store FOR YOUR SAFETY. he was visibly very rude and disrespectful to other customers in front of us!!! Do not buy from Game Stop! They refused to return an unopened, unused item with receipt within the return window.

I bought a ps4 used and refurbished. But got home hooked it up, and put a game in and then it made a sreaching sound. So I pressed the eject button. Nothing disc was stuck. Tried the screwdriver srcew that backs out the disc and nothing. So I opened up the console and so dirty, dusty. No refurbished. So I get the disc out and fixed the gears and cleaned it and also put new thermal paste and thermal pads in it. I will never buy a console from them again. read more

I had placed an order online because I live in Mesquite and the closest store is this one in St. George. When I checked my email before walking in the store it said my ordered was canceled. Apparently the new Gamestop credit card I had just received for the purpose of getting the Pro discount was not working. I figured no problem I'll just buy it over the counter. I walked in and Lawrence was behind the counter. He never said a word to me. I was the only one in the store. I walked up to the counter and he just stared at me. I said How are you today? He continued to just stare at me. I asked him if he was okay and he said very sternly "How I am is irrelevant. My only purpose is to assist you in getting what you want." I was floored. I didn't even know what to say. I just turned and walked out. He was so unbelievably rude it was scary. I went over to Target and bought my console and game and paid about 40.00 more than Gamestop but I'm okay with that. I will never step into a Gamestop again because of Lawrence. Worst Gamestop in Utah. Besides multiple run ins with management and employees there, they just never have good customer service. I got a phone call to pick up a receipt saying I had paid off a game sometime before 10pm for a midnight release. I showed up at 6:50pm to get the receipt and they said they can't give me that ticket until 7pm. So I asked how late they'd be open to give out the game for release after 10pm and all they said is "I don't know, depends on if we're still helping people or not." I went with my son to gamestop to get a game for him and the staff there were very helpful and just made the whole game buying experience great. My wife it's the one to usually take my kids shopping but I figured id go that day.
