While they're mostly known for drinks and food, they occasionally host live music. And then there's the name confusion: Bubba's Brews is now known as Boathouse at 33, but I feel like the Bubba's name is going to stick around a while for locals... as "Boathouse at 33" doesn't roll off the tongue quite the same way. Now let's get to the food severed at Bubba's, which is more like pub or bar food--wings, nachos, tacos, etc. I recommend the wings, fried catfish tacos, and nachos. All of these are great. On the weekends, Bubba's serves pit-smoked meats like brisket and grilled wings (these are different than the fried wing which are on their menu every day). The day I tried the brisket, it was just okay (it just needed to be smoked a bit more so it would be more tender). But I know briskets can be hard to perfect, so maybe it was just an off day. I am, however, eager to try the smoked wings, but it seems I keep visiting on the days they don't have them. As for the staff at Bubba's, they are all fantastic! Everyone is attentive and super nice! I chose a white tritoon and told her I would be there in 10 minutes (we are staying at a house directly across from the marina). My friend drops me off at the marina less than 10 minutes later with the jet ski we also rented from them the day before. I get there and check in with the manager to check out my boat and he tells me they are all booked up and can't accommodate us. The manager offered us no accommodations and told me, "sorry you're out of luck." For whoever is reading this it is important to understand they run their reservations for their watercraft on a computer system. There is no possible way they honestly messed this up. They 100% gave our reservation away to another couple in front of me who was complaining about not having any inventory. After begging the manager to figure something out for us so we could salvage the weekend, Sugar Hollow Marina then told me they have another boat they are picking up soon and maybe we could grab that one when it got back. They took my number down and promised to call me. Hours go by with nothing. I call multiple times asking for an update and the airhead front desk attendant continued to sell me a dream that we were gonna get a boat. I call back for the 4th time and I ask since they overbooked me, I cancelled another boat on the lake and ate a $450 deposit so I could rent from them, and now I'm not getting a boat at all, could they do something at all for us. I get put on hold and then she hung up on me. Never called me back. I will never give these people business again. Has to be owned by private equity at this point. Customer service doesn't matter. Absolute disappointment. Figured I could have fun and escape the transactional sad society I'm used to in the big city. I was deeply wrong.... DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. You'd think they would be more proactive about stocking liquors and assign more waitresses than usual for a holiday.
