There are simply not enough great toy stores like this around anymore! I brought my two kiddos in and they had a blast looking at all the great toys and cards they have. I had a great time looking at all the great retro action figures and collectibles. The staff were so helpful and great with helping us out and finding what the kids are interested in. I had been driving by this store for a while now and always wanted to stop by. I finally did last week and couldn't be happier. The owner was really nice and helpful when I asked him for some particular items. I managed to get the perfect birthday gift for my hubby, who collects Spawn figures. They have a great inventory. If you're a fan of Transformers or G I Joe, this is the place for you! I was blown away by their selection the first time I stepped in. Plus, they have tons of other stuff besides the aforementioned toy lines. Everything is nicely organized and displayed in glass cases. There's always something I need, or didn't know I needed, and the prices are great. I've been coming here for years at this point and have never had a negative experience with the staff. Spent more money here than I would like to admit. Could never get the employees to not treat every transaction like it was teeth pulling. The owner told me almost every single time how much he "HATES LEGO and LEGO fan (AFOLs). That's cool John(disgruntled owner), I still gave you a lot of money(even with the lack of a "discount" that was constantly promised and never provided) and you and your employees treated me horribly almost every time. Bottom line DO NOT spend your money here. You are absolutely not getting a deal here over an EBAY purchase and the product is "meh" quality at best. Gave this shop too many chances, too many other Great Toy Stores and good deals close by to spend your money here. read more

I brought my sons and their friends here to check out what this store had to offer. Good collection of items but the customer service was horrible! We were not greeted with a simple hello when we walked in and even after I said a friendly "hello, how are you" to the owner he barely replied back. I couldn't even hear if he said hello at all. As we looked around, other customers who were older in age walked in and were greeted. One thing that really bothers me as a parent is the bias by some shop owners who think if kids come into a store that they are not potential customers and just looking around. Because they are young, they couldn't possibly have money to spend. That's the treatment we got here. You don't know my family and the reason why we came into your shop. My sons had A LOT of money to spend. But because of this shop owner's attitude and customer service skills, I told my boys we will take our business elsewhere. We left and went to a comic/hobby store nearby who were amazing and so helpful and friendly. A word of advice: Treat all your customers with the same respect that you would want to be treated. I'm a Star Wars junkie and I was able to find stuff over 40 years old at amazing prices! However, they have so many other toys from different genres from transformers to gi Joe to marvel stuff! I love it when I discover a new spot to pick up comic books. I love it even more when the guy running it is really a good guy. John the owner of The Toy Addict is the man. Super friendly and helpful. Really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. First off, he has a big wall of half priced comics. Not just junk but good titles- Spiderman, Batman, Superman. Very happy to find a lot of books I already didn't have. He also has some key issues displayed at reasonable prices. But comics is not all he deals in. His vintage toys for sale are the best I have seen. So many old Star Wars, He-Man and wrestling figures. I was definitely eyeing the Jabba the Hut skiff ship. One out of the packaging and one inside the box. Haven't seen one in a long time. Pretty cool. The Toy Addict also have collectible gaming cards and used video games for sale. This place almost brought tears of joy to my eyes when I walked in. I had no idea this place was here until I recently had trouble finding some new Marvel Legends action figures. My friend told me Toy Addicts might have em. I looked this place up on Yelp and called em up. Sure enough they had the whole wave of figures I was looking for, still in the case and at retail price of $20 per figure. I was able to put them on hold, so I rushed down there from North County to pick them up. The shop was easy to find due to the comic book heroes on the front windows and I easily found parking right in front. As I walked in the first thing that caught my attention as how well lit and organized this store was. I could look around and spot separate sections for Transformers, Star Wars, Marvel, Pop Vinyl, Comics and even Vintage Video Games in the back. This place is amazing! They even have a big selection of rare and exclusive toys at prices I wouldn't mind paying if I needed them. I made my way over to the register to pick up my figures and looked at some toys along the way. I was surprised to see that a lot of the toys were priced at retail prices that you would see at your local brick and mortar stores. Before even making it to the register I was approached by John and asked how i was doing and if I needed help. I told him I called about the figures and before I could finish my sentence he had already pulled the case of figures out for me. The Toy Addicts is the best Comic Book and Collectibles Shop I have ever been to. The huge selection of collectibles and high level of customer service makes this place a diamond in the rough. My 9 year old grandson has been a loyal customer at this store since it opened. He loves everything Lego. I have always thought that the prices were high, compared to on-line, but figured that supporting a small, local business was worth it. Yesterday, with a small fortune in his pocket ($80), he went in and spent it all. He was most pleased and excited to be buying what he was told was an unopened and NEW Star Wars build (#8016). He sat down to work on it and discovered that it had been taped shut and all the pieces were in an old plastic baggie. Obviously, it was not new and obviously not "unopened". The poor kid paid $40. for it and now feels really ripped off. Worst case scenario is that not all the pieces are there-if this is the case, we are heading down to The Toy Addicts for a full cash refund. We won't shop here again, as it's a poor message to be giving kids that you can lie and get away with it. He is very disappointed in this store. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with TOY ADDICTS and the owner John. First, let me explain that I "inherited" from my father what can only be described as a passion project to collect Star Wars "collectibles." As anyone knows who does some collecting, unless these figures are in mint condition, from the first movies in the 70's and still in the boxes, they are essentially worthless. The collection from my dad was a mixed bag of mostly newer figures, plates, posters and some old figures in boxes too. I could have taken the tedious time to sell it all individually on ebay over the years and MAYBE made more money. But I didn't have the time or patience for this and was honest when I first spoke with John and his employees about unloading ALL that I had at once. John was honest in return and promised that he would take everything off my hands, even the items he did not specialize in or think he could sell. He said at the end of the year he ends up donating the toys to charity that he can't unload. This was a wonderful proposition for me. And one I think my dad would be proud of as well. John then topped it when he even offered to come to me after I explained I had some back issues in lifting some of the bins from the shelves of my garage. He took time away from his family on a Sunday after just having a baby to come price all the items and take it off my hands. John not only gave me a fair price for the entire collection, it felt lovely doing business with such a good person. The store itself is quite amazing too. As someone who would run from Toys R Us to Kmarts with my dad to try to find the latest Star Wars figures back in the 70's, this place really brought me back. He has a great collection of items to sell. And when you go in...ask how he got started. John's story is fascinating. And you will know you are doing business with a good guy. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Not only do they have a wide array of assorted figures from my childhood, but they also have a great selection of current action figures. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and very courteous. They have a great collection of G.I. Joe figures, including quite a few in-the-box vehicles. They also have a great collection of Transformers and were able to answer any questions I had. I recommend this to anyone interested in vintage toys or looking to get that ideal gift for that nostalgic person out there. Great selection of new and old toys, boxed and loose. I mainly collect anything vintage Star Wars and their selection is good. He is constantly adding new stock as I buy up what he has on hand. The owner is great and willing to take the time to talk and he even takes special requests on what to lookout for in terms of buying. Join the member's club for special offers and a discount at each purchase. They have very decent prices for a brick and mortar and you can find deals. My mind was absolutely blown when I walked in and saw what a huge selection of vintage toys this store had. G.I. Joe is my thing and they have the biggest selection I have ever seen both vintage and new. John, the owner is also very nice and very knowledgeable on the product. Their NES, SNES and Sega Genesis selection is also top notch. Their prices are also very reasonable.My only suggestion would be for them to have an email newsletter with inventory updates and featured premiere pieces. I've been collecting on and off since the 80s and I missed collector shops from the 90s before eBay got big. Well looks like there's revival of those shops again and Toy Addicts is my favorite collector shop in San Diego since ToyBox back in the day. I collect several toy lines and this store has them. I also started collecting toy lines that I haven't before until I walked into the store. Store is very clean and well organized. Not like dusty dump like other shops I been too. John the owner is very easy to work with. I've spent hours past few weekends there and walked out spending hundreds of dollars as well. This shop has good mix of modern and vintage toy lines. Star Wars, Transformers, GI Joe, Marvel, DC, He-Man, Robotech,vintage 70s and 80s TV shows figures. John also has lot of stuff not displayed so give him a call if you are looking for something particular. He had an old school Godaikin robot I've been wanting since I was kid and I got it finally!! He asked what my minimum was and after looking through what I was trying to sell confirmed once more. He asked if I wanted store credit or cash. I responded with both because I was actually interested in some of his merchandise so win-win right? He made me an offer that was fair to us both and then proceeded to give me the royal treatment.
