This is a classic 4 star take out only American style Chinese resturant. Its cheap, its filling, its reasonably seasoned. The chef takes no risks or attempts to incorporate modern Chinese ideas, but that is fine. If you want that, go on a train and head to Flushing. Been coming here for over 10 years. No chinese food in the United States even compares, cannot recommend them enough. Every time I get chinese food somewhere else I am disappointed and need to get my fix of Golden Seas. The staff is friendly, super accommodating and always quick and efficient. It's a little hole in the wall spot but that is what makes it so worth it. I especially love their eggrolls, chicken with broccoli and their sautéed udon with chicken. Can't speak too much about their more "Americanized" Chinese food (ex. sesame chicken, lo mein) but their classic Chinese dishes are worth talking about! Their Beef Chow Mein in Egg Sauce is a family favorite! The beef is oh so tender and the noodles in the egg sauce are silky. Don't see this item on their menu? That's because it's on their "hidden" menu, or the Cantonese-style food menu. Also recommend the Char Siu (roasted pork) wonton mein and the Singapore Mai Fun (might be spicy for some). read more

Excellent chinese food for a great price. Seating is available for those that want to eat there. It is much cleaner than your typical Chinese take out restaurant. You actually want to eat here! We had a large group of 13 so we took up 3 tables. There is a tea dispenser in which you help yourself to as much tea as you like. They do not charge you for tea. Ordering is simple as they have table service. We ordered the honey prawn with walnuts, beef with tomato over rice, and shredded pork with pan fried noodles. The honey prawn was excellent, with not too much breading. It was served over steamed broccoli and raw lettuce with a bowl of rice. The beef with tomato over rice was ok. I prefer my tomatoes to be a bit more cooked but the beef was very tender. Lastly, one of the more popular dishes, was the shredded pork with pan fried noodles. You can add additional noodles for $3 more and they give you enough noodles for a complete 2nd portion. This is quite the steal and saves you on ordering another dish. The noodles are very crispy too and taste much better when you eat it at the restaurant. Conveniently located inside a strip at the intersection of route 520 and route 79. Golden Seas is unlike any other place for Chinese. It's a cute casual place with nice seating compared to any other place nearby. I usually don't dine in at places like this but I felt very comfortable doing so my first visit. I brought some stuff to try home and I enjoyed every bit of the selection of dishes I tried!! I especially loved the fried wontons. You can really tell how good a place is based on their most basic things! I also really enjoyed the chow mein with pork. Their vegetables were nice and easy flavorful as well. Usually when I get Chinese food takeout it is very greasy but Golden Sea's food was not at all! Service was friendly and quick. Prices were slightly high but everything was quite worth it... besides this no complaints at all and golden seas definitely made my list of go-to spots! read more

Looks are definitely deceiving with this place.. I wasn't expecting much but I was looking for an in between lessons dinner place with my kids.. I am impressed with how delicious everything was. I want to go back and get their chow fun again . It's the wide noodles dish and we got it with roast pork .. so good ! They have the good kind of fried crackers that come along with your order.. the fried rice was on the dry side which was surprising but it still had good flavor. Well we did curbside tonight. Unfortunately they wouldn't take credit card over the phone, so our contact was extended as we needed to do credit card in person. I ordered via phone and specifically asked for shredded pork in garlic sauce. The asian woman said, ok, no problem we usually use roast pork, but we can use shredded pork. The dish was delivered with roast pork, which is NOT WHAT I WANTED. The hot and sour soup was devoid of ingredients, mostly just liquid. My wife said her chicken in black bean sauce had minimal sauce. So disappointed. When the original Island taste closed, the quality of Chinese food in Marlboro has gone down hill. Best Chinese food in the area! Food is always fresh and delicious. A family favorite! Golden seas does a lot of take out. Whether there's a wait or not, it's always worth it. As previous "Yelpers" mentioned there are often people eating in, but it's a rather no frills experience. Golden Seas also offers "traditional Chinatown" dishes such as wonton and roast pork noodle soups and rice dishes. Ordered from here on the recommendation of a friend. Granted it was New Year's Day, but they were totally overwhelmed. I orders and was told 15-30 minutes. I arrived 20 mins later and found about 15 people waiting for pick up. Some were waiting over an hour already. Several people walked out without their orders. After about an hour after I ordered, I asked about my order. She pointed to several people saying they were before me. One gentleman man said he ordered over 99 minutes ago. He should be knighted or something for his patience. My beef is they should have given me (and the other guests) a realistic pick up time, not the standard 15-30 minutes. So i politely canceled my $100+ in Chinese food and went across the street and spent $36 for pizza. read more

This is another staple of take-out choices for my family. Service is friendly and efficient here. They have never messed up our orders and have given us hot sauce when we asked for it. I'm a little surprised there aren't higher reviews. Since I work in the area I usually stop in once a week for take-out. The food is always delicious. My favorites are the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, General Tso's Chicken and the Schezuan Chicken. In my opinion, Marlboro has some very good Chinese restaurants, but this is my favorite... well for takeout anyway. If I wanted to go for lunch with friends I would probably pick another place only for the reason that the decor is "McDonald's-ish" as a previous poster said. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. Not only did they send incorrect items and ignore what we paid extra to add, but the food was disgusting and inedible. Had fried rice tasteles sent it back, steamed veg o.k. hot and sour soup, o.k., nice that they served it in a big bowl, family style, moo shu shrimp, pretty good. Oily taste in mouth had asked them to make it light on oil. Fried noodles appiitizer wierdly over fried. Woman's bathroom being used for storage. Server was nice and tried to be of assistance. Food not what it used to be. No one speaks English in there but they are great with a calculator. Can't give a half of a star or I would, I ordered my food at around 8:55pm, they close at 10 on Thursday's. NEVER received food, never even got a call to say they couldn't make it. To top it off. They weren't answering the phone at 9:40, after specifically being told it would take less than 40 minutes to arrive. I'd advise not going here, food is mediocre at best, on a good day. i'd give this place 7 stars if i could. i think you see the true color and tenor of a restaurant when it's under the most duress. a chinese restaurant on christmas day, true to the hackneyed stories, is borderline insanely busy. and so was golden seas tonight -- they were quoting an hour for takeout when we arrived. but from the moment we walked in until we paid the bill it was well under an hour, and the food didn't suffer a bit from the pace and frenzy of the kitchen. we had boneless spareribs (not your usual cut, a bit more fat but much more tender than other places); dumplings (not too doughy, not over-cooked, the twin default states of dumplings better relegated to the "dogs don't look" heap, look it up if you need to), general tso's chicken, chicken and beef with broccoli and shrimp mei fun. all of the dishes were flavorful, not too much salt, oil, or starch in the sauce, and the general tso's in particular had just enough of a crispy "shell" on the chicken so that it tasted like a crispy chicken, not a sauce-covered chicken nugget (the usual bad state for general tso's chicken). despite the general hectic climate of the take-out window and the other tables, our water glasses were full, we had clean plates for each course, and our order was perfect the first time. the decor isn't going to win any awards, but the food makes up for it. and they proved they can keep going when the going is toughest. i'm impressed. and full. read more

After a long day at work in Elizabeth NJ I wiped the car grease from my forehead and started my journey back to civilization. It was a beautiful Friday evening in April which sounds very hard to believe in NJ, so the garage was exceptionally warm. However I was thinking of my boss Han from the shop and said to myself I am in the mood for Chinese food. Unfortunately I was working with a small budget since I am not paid very well for my lack luster experience in mounting and balancing tires. I ordered a large wonton soup and then was asked what else would I like. I responded if there is any currency left over from this $5 bill please use it for more sustenance. He handed me back my measly change and gave me an extra bag of fried noodles to increase my LDL's. I found the wonton to be very large with very little meat inside. I am trying to watch my carbohydrate intake since the summer is nearing, like most people in Monmouth County I want to look good at the Martels Tikki Bar on Mondays. The wonton soup is much better at Oriental Pan on Rt 9 in Marlboro. The wonton there are much smaller which means there are actually more in the quart container and the carbohydrate to protein ratio is 4 times less so you are getting more protein. My boss Han was informed about this dilemma and he agreed with me. He eats out at least 7 days a week and 2 times a day in most instances. read more

Surprisingly good for a Chinese take out place. Has the sautéed chicken udon with veggies (spinach?) it was really good. They did a twist on shrimp dumplings that was good too. It's a little hidden dive that is definitely a notch above the rest. read more
