The first thing when I went in was the smell of heavenly lemon grass. We ordered chicken wings in butter & garlic, taste was good. I had the house special lemon grass pork chop, it was very nicely seasoned. I enjoyed it very much. The menu selection is varied including Vietnamese Street Food, lots of options to choose from. We even had a couple of banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), a bowl of Pho plus a couple of dessert. For dessert, we had the crystal leaf jelly in thick coconut cream & the flan caramel. Service was good Street parking available except 3pm - 6pm during peak hours traffic - no parking on Kingsway.

    I love coming to Ganh for the diverse Vietnamese food options. A highlight is the lemongrass wings that quite honestly rival a different very well known wing spot. We gave the hotpot a try and the broth was rich and flavorful. The raw beef as well packed a punch. Can't wait to revisit

    Food is always keeping in good standard with the Vietnamese fusion style. It's certainly a friend's gathering place, they have choices of beef,pork,chicken and fish with different types of rice and noodles to be served. They also have a different type of alcohol and nonalcoholic choices on the menu. I love the three layers of coffee. Service is tight when there's long waiting lines. I still remember my crisis of takeout order. But no one reply me to explain my issue replied me so far.

    we were a party of ten with resos at 7:30 pm on a friday night, but even then the place was packed, with a lineup spilling onto the sidewalk. we still waited about 15 minutes for the group before us to finish dessert, and another 15 minutes deciding what to order (extensive menus with pictures = group decision paralysis). everything's ordered on a tablet. this isn't your basic pho joint. the menu stretches into vietnamese street food you don't usually see, plus a full roster of drinks: fruit teas, smoothies, yogurt drinks, viet iced coffee, and even durian desserts. the tablet also lets you omit onions, scallions, cilantro, tweak sweetness levels on drinks or whether you want your drink now or later. food came out in waves, there was a lull after the two bowls of pho, the broth was good (someone at our table commented that the noodles were too thick), then two of the three orders of butter garlic chicken wings, followed by lemongrass chicken, lemongrass pork, spring rolls, meat platters, interspersed with all our drink orders and finally the last set of wings. the wings were packed with flavour, came with two dipping sauces (one tamarind-y, the other maybe lime + chili?), slightly greasy and a bit hard, like they'd been refried. our group contemplated the best chicken wings we've ever had, and these weren't it, but it was still demolished without hesitation. the crab spring rolls were flaky and crisp but leaned heavy on the minced meat, which overpowered the crab. meanwhile, one person at our table took on the role of masterchef contestant, expertly soaking then rolling rice paper wraps and assembling a baguette topped with saucy meats, eager to share and have us experience the dishes like the perfect host. i was already overwhelmed (and overstuffed) trying to tackle my own order and drink/dessert of coconut milk, with mochi . the vibe: very loud. as in, "shout across the table" loud. we had to repeat ourselves, ask the other person to repeat what they just said, attempt lip reading, or simply nod politely and pretend we heard. elbow to elbow seating and plates hanging off the table edges added to the organized chaos. servers were slow to clear, but we sat for three hours without ever being rushed. fair trade. all in all, chaotic, loud, flavour packed, and best tackled with a group who's up for family style sharing, leaning in (literally) for conversation, and laughing through the madness.

    After a night out in Vancouver, we just needed some good vietnamese nhậu food. Ganh was a top choice within Yelp and we decided to give it a try. We were very hungry, but once we got there, they were really busy and we had to wait for a while even though we made a reservation. The food came out pretty fast. The snails and clams were good starters, along with the squid and chicken wings. The Bò Né here was not up to par with our standard of how it should be. I had a similar experience at another place called Lady Lunch where it has gravy in the dish. In the states, that is unheard of. Even though we had a giant piece of bone marrow, it didn't really save the dish. The place was well-decorated in a way that really resonated "Vietnam". We ordered a few drinks and they were alright, we probably would come back just for the other dishes, but still good to come.

    We used to love this new lovely restaurant when the "boss" is still showing up in the restaurant. in the past few visit, we can feel it is totally going down. Not as crowded, the usual lack of service which is normal, but the food portion, dramatically less portion than before. Wish that can improve or we feel sorry to let it go.

    This modern pho spot seriously exceeded my expectations with its stylish vibe and elevated take on classic Vietnamese dishes. The fresh mango salad with prawn was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The Chef's Choice gourmet pho had an incredibly rich, flavorful broth, and the rib beef lover dish was tender and indulgent. The frog legs in butter and garlic were a surprise hit, crispy, buttery, and packed with flavor. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Service was also really friendly and fast.

    Came here on a Tuesday evening 8pm and waited for about 10 minutes. The restaurant is newer (or feels like it) as they have tablets at the table for ordering. Ordered extra spicy for bun bo hue and didn't find it that spicy (base on personal taste). The banh xeo was big but think it was a bit too much bean sprout for the filling. Not bad in general but think there are better options especially given its price and the area.

    Gang has easily become one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants! Aside from the usual menu items they have a grand selection of other more unique Vietnamese dishes as well that ranges from razor clam, from legs, sea snail, beef carpaccio and many more. In my recent visit my friends and I arrived 5 minutes before their last call and the restaurant was nice enough to serve us. And all their dishes came very quickly within 10 mins.we ordered the beef carpaccio, chef choice pho that came along with a mung bean pandan dessert, razor clams, and lemongrass chicken and spring roll vermicelli. All was very delicious! And portions were generous we had left overs to take home too. A definite must try if you are up for some more creative Vietnamese dishes!

    Been for several dinners at Ganh Vietnamese Kitchen, a Northern Vietnamese spot. They're a few doors down from Tina Cakes Dessert. 10% off all day Tuesday and late night (9:00pm-midnight). Ask for their spicy sauce. - Nuoc cam tuoi ep ($6.95) - one of the worst fresh squeezed orange juices. All ice. - Cha gio ($8.95) - tiny portion. - Bun ca ganh ($17.50) - fish cakes and sausage were delicious. Fried fish was slightly dry. - Bun bo hue ($17.95) - broth lacked complexity. - Pho tai nam bo vien ($16.95) - broth was solid with star anise shining through. - Bun cha ha noi ($18.50) - meatballs/shoulder were excellent. Nuoc cham was well balanced. - Bun nem cua bien ($18.95) - tasty crab rolls. - Bun thit heo quay mam nem ($18.50) - pork belly slices were top notch. - Pho ga loc ($16.95) - chicken was silky. Noodles are too soft but broth was enjoyable. - Banh canh cua ganh ($17.95) - broth was on the bland side. Want to try their snail specialty dishes.

    From Ganh to GONE in 60 seconds... Ever since this place first opened and I reviewed it, I have been back here numerous times and recommended to many friends. It has expanded its menu extensively. However, lately in the last 2-3 visits, I have experienced a decline in its service and food quality level. Decided to give this place another go on a rainy day since had a hard time finding parking at a couple of my favourite places. Walked in, requested a booth seat since I saw no one seated on them and there were only 3 other tables occupied (the restaurant was pretty empty). Was told they are "reserved" (Got seated at a tiny table close to the back entrance and bathroom instead (lovely!! Love genius minds and indescribable logic). Usually I order quite a few dishes but since I have a lovely table the size to fit 2 bowls, that was exactly what i ordered; 1. Vietnamese mixed rice paper rolls. Either the mango wasn't fresh or been sitting around for a while, it's missing that nice fresh taste. 2. House special pho. The soup was hot, the meats were a bit on the tougher side, and the cook was too generous by added a little too much MSG and salt (could feel my mouth dry). 3. Bone marrow lover pho. Don't let the picture fool you lol it's actually half of a bone barrow then cut in twos and have them sitting on top of the noodles and beef to give the illusion that you are getting a lot of bone marrow but in reality it's not much. Honestly for $2 less, you get more bone marrow and everything else with the house special pho. So technically this bone marrow lover pho is a $24.95 failed. Overall, the food quality is certainly declining, possibly expanding the menu too fast? Should stay focus on quality rather than quantity (trying to have every dishes all the Viet restaurants have combined is a bit ambitious and perhaps a bit too greedy?) . The restaurant still maintain that casual atmosphere where everyone is welcome. The main complaint I have since day one are the chairs having that inside out backrest (it's almost like vacationing in Thailand and feeling something is always trying to poke you from behind). As for the service, slowly from warm and welcoming to becoming extinct like the dinosaurs. What happened?!? (It seriously went from me love you long time to me just want your money bye!). Serving customers are now just at the employees convenience? (Btw... please don't put up reserved signs on tables and tell customers that when they are not, only stupid minded businesses do this dummy practice). And seating customers closest to the washroom when the restaurant is almost literally empty is as smart as a beansprout, really! Anyways, a total disappointing experience especially when I normally order a lot here and tipping over 25% to 30% every visit. This time around, a big thank you 8% tip. Too many similar and better places around. It will be a long time if I ever come back and not a recommendation by me. P.S. we all rallied behind you when you were bullied by your employees awhile back, don't mistreat your customers.

    The new spot in town for smacking good vietnamese cuisine! We were so surprised that this little spot on kingsway was packed on a weekend evening, the wait was closer to an hour and they did have a sign-in bulletin inside. P.s. they have since updated the sign-in to an SMS system, so parties and return after receiving a text notification. We did find service a taddd slow from the kitchen side but the food made up for our hangry bellies. Everything looked delicious on the menu and around our neighboring tables. Of course their classic pho to start. Piping hot both with a generous mix of tender meat cuts hit the spot. I don't see it much, but the pho was served with a kicking side dish of pickled chilies and garlic (killer, and addictive). We also tried the garlic butter escargot, this was served with a side of toasted baguette and let me tell you - I could've just lived off the garlic butter sauce and bread alone. We were warned at time of order that the snails might be fishier (?) than expected due to its frozen nature, and it tasted fine to us. Appreciated the heads up! We all loved the dodging beef sizzling plate as well - it looked like a breakfast plate but much bougier. With the generous addition of bone marrow and pate, this dish (also served with bread) is a fun and delicious experience. We had bits of bread dipped and lathered in the buttery richness of the bone marrow, runny egg yolks and rich pate spread. This one was a finger licking good dish! And although I am not the biggest carpaccio die-hard, the sauce that was served with the tender meat slices of this carpaccio made it more exciting. It was dressed with crunchy shallots and cilantro stems, springy amplified with lime juice and a sweet-tangy sauce. Overall it was a nice refresher from all the food we had ordered...for two. The extensive menu looked delicious as well, from gorgeously plated veggie / wrapping platters to colorful desserts, I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.
