I don't eat meat so my options have been limited at the other restaurant. Soooo happy to have this Nen restaurant on Canada Way. I tried their Lemongrass Tofu on Rice and it was sooooo good! I am super impressed with this dish. The Lemongrass flavor was very pronounced. Our daughter ordered Lemongrass Chicken with Vermicelli noodles and my husband ordered Lemongrass Chicken with Rice. He said the Lemongrass Chicken could have been a bit more grilled, but was pretty happy with the food otherwise. Portion was very generous. He could have just shared it with our daughter. Maybe next time he will. They have Coffee and Matcha Flights at this restaurant. These items are probably what draws the crowds to this place as they are "Instagram worthy" items. We tried a Coffee flight which came with four different flavors and you get to choose what kind of foam goes on top. Out of the four flavors, there was one that was mixed with Matcha. We unainamously agreed that this was the best of the bunch. Hubby felt it was generally disappointing. I'm not as harsh a critic. I think I enjoyed this flight experience more. Worth noting though, that I'm not really much of a coffee person in general. I'm more of a tea drinker so...my opinion is perhaps not a very reliable one when it comes to coffee beverages. We came here on a Friday night. I called earlier to try to make a reservation but was informed that they don't take reservations. The lady on the phone advised me to call back about half an hour before we wanted to get a table and put my name on the waitlist. The noodles are a bit thicker then other places but a warm bowl of hearty meat and noodles is hard to beat. The Bun Cha platter comes with a mix of lettuces and herbs. The grilled pork and pork meatballs are swimming in this warm sweet and tangy fish sauce like soup. If you generally like the fish sauce dip, (Nước chấm) you'll love this combination. The crispy crab parcel is surprisingly light and not greasy. The price for this platter is a bit more expensive then if you just got a bowl of vermicelli. But the presentation and fact that this isn't that common of a dish comes into play. Its also good to share. The salted coffee is strong and creamy! Not like they used instant coffee. Which some places I've been too have tasted like. The interior feels almost like walking into someone's house. The walls are beautifully painted with scenes from Vietnam's side streets. Tables are close together and sometimes you just have to share a long table with others if you want to get seated. Expect a little bit more of a wait time if you plan on going. I know many other reviews had mentioned that the service is slow. But there are somethings you just can't rush. Especially during a peak time.

That being said, the staff were extremely kind and accommodating, so you can always ask. They also have a sign thanking for your patience. The portions are big so worth the price. In speaking to the grandson, they don't use MSG and many of the recipes are from grandma. Very regional and home-style taste which helps to differentiate them from many of the other Vietnamese Restaurants. They offer 4 varieties of chili on the table, but the chili oil was the best with hints of lemongrass and a zippy bite. I bought a bottle to take home for $10.00 as it was grandma's home recipe. My friend and I tried chicken pho (clean broth with a nice balance or sweet and salty), tofu salad roll, mini pillow cake, fish sauce glazed chicken wings (so good!) and traditional ham banh mi (the bread was so crispy and light).
