Was excited that I had the time to browse, try things on and thought the Fashion Island location would be great but I was wrong! Was approached and someone offered to put my things in a changing room almost immediately (assume to claim commission on my purchases.) Thereafter, apparently I became invisible? The service disappeared! No one to change out sizes, suggest options ... nothing. As I exited, there was a woman folding clothes in the back and three other employees at the register without customers. I interrupted their jovial chat to inform them why I was leaving. I love this brand but at these prices I don't want to feel like I'm at Walmart. Go elsewhere! read more

He was closing but invited me in and showed be around, he even-said to wash & wear things and if they didn't work out, bring them back..What? So, made my first time purchases with this brand, and then I purchased more & more & more, Smart man. Some things didn't work and I made a return recently and the 2 young women, Emerson & Carly, made it just as pleasant as when I was purchasing. I love Athleta pants and was so excited when I saw the actual store as I don't live near one. I went in on a Sunday morning and was helped by two ladies who were both named Kim. I have a hard time finding pants that fit, and Kim patiently helped me try on various types of pants and sizes, and I finally found one that fit well except for the length. Who knew they offer hemming service for free? I usually wear a Venice jogger in Petite M but Kim suggested I try on a Venice flare in S. They had to take out a few inches but it was done perfectly, and I didn't lose the slit on the side either. The hemming was done by Friday and I went into pick them up on Saturday. They said that the pants can also be shipped home for free too. I wish I had a store near me! Great service and it made the price of Athleta pants even more worth it. read more

I love that this store organizes and offers a range of complimentary fitness classes held outside their store. I tried out the Pure Barre event and there was a great turnout. The instructor Bahareh was amazing and she delivered a killer workout sans the barre and props! Only disappointment was the swag bag which was talked up on the invite and at the start of the event but in fact lacked substance. It's still good for a free event but keep your expectations low. Check their website for their schedule of classes. It's a great opportunity to get a feel for the different fitness styles and classes offered in the area. read more

I used to buy here often. Then one day I purchased several hundred dollars and they talked me into opening a credit card account for a 10% discount. I paid the bill the next day on line with the temporary account number they gave me. Since then they have not received my payment but it has been withdrawn from my account. I went back to show the manager and he called and had it removed. 3 months later they reversed it and have been charging me interest ever since. I have tried to communicate with both the store and the Barkleys bank and no one has been able to help me. It gets worse but you have the idea. DO NOT GET AN ATHLETA CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!! I will never shop there again and will continue to put this on social media and tell everyone my experience. Their clothes are a dime a dozen and can also be found at T.J. I've ordered clothes from Athleta online before, so when the new store opened in Orange County, I was really excited about seeing the merchandise in person. There is a huge selection of everything from running clothes to yoga gear at Athleta. I typically have ordered my pants from Athleta before (they have both short and regular sizes), but I was amazed by the selection of beautiful sweaters and coats at this new location. They also had a great selection of clothing and accessories for skiing/snowboarding, cycling, and even golf. The prices at Athleta are fairly expensive. While you can find some pretty good sales online, I found no sales racks at all in at this new Newport Beach location. I was also surprised by well how well staffed the new store is here. Although there were plenty of people working, only one salesperson was friendly and offered us any help. Like a previous reviewer (Jen K.) mentioned, I'm seriously waiting for the sale section to happen at Athleta so I can shop a bit more guilt-free here. read more

Athleta is so awesome! For higher-end athletic wear, I prefer Athleta over Lululemon, which is way overpriced. Sorry, I can't justify spending $100 on pants that pile after a few washes. I can get something better for little more than half the price tag here at Athleta. Yogis, the Athleta Chaturanga pants are the perfect pant: stretchy and lightweight, it's perfect for all poses. The salesgirls here are really helpful. They really know the products and have excellent advice on what to get according to the sport, your body type and fit you are looking for. Also, free alterations and hassel free returns! They have a "give it a work out guarantee: if it doesn't perform, return it for free". No limitations on returning merchandise and you can return anything you bought online in store. How's that for customer service?!! Pretty amazing! read more

I'm surprised that Athleta doesn't have more recognition when it comes to being a high quality workout brand (like Lululemon, Nike) because it's actually one of my favorite. Most of my workout pants (or at least of the ones that I wear) are from Athleta. I rarely wear my Nike pants (I don't like the material as much) and I don't own any Lululemon pants (for some reason they don't fit me as well). I really like the material (very soft, high quality), the fit (functional, yet flattering), the style (e.g. leg outseam is slightly forward instead of centered to elongate the legs), their great return policy a.k.a. "Give-It-A-Workout Guarantee" (love it or return it, any time, any reason), AND because they have amazing customer service. When I emailed them to tell them I hadn't received one of the items from my order that it said had been delivered, they promptly responded, apologized and resent me the item I was missing with no questions asked. I was already a fan of the products and the branding (e.g. "Power to the She" on my capri pants tag), but now my really great customer service experience is going to make me a loyal customer for life. :) "More power to you," Athleta! This is the first Athleta I've been to. I normally look & have shopped on their website. There seems to be more on the site. Once again, like many other stores here at the upscale, snobby Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach, no one greeted me & I walked through the entire store. They have some nice garments that you can wear to the gym or out and about on casuasl days. They are rather expensive though. Oh and they offer free yoga classes. read more

I've been here a handful of times and each time I come, the same 2 girls are just as delightful and sweet as the last time I saw them. I wish I could remember their names(comes with age) But anyways, one of the girls is always so helpful with suggestions. I am a current Athleta card holder and frequent customer. Had a really bad experience at this location on 7/21/23 with the two managers on staff. Returned a couple online purchase items and one of which I was sent was not the correct size. I was told that item was a final sale. Told them I understood that but explained a second time I was sent the wrong size. One of the managers essentially told me I made the order and was responsible for it. This was mentioned about 3 times by her. I showed her the app and asked her to show me where I selected that size. She was unable to do so. I asked for a solution and she was unwilling to do anything. A second manager stepped in after I told the original manager I was speaking to she was being disrespectful. Being told 3 times it's what I ordered when I did not was frustrating and frankly unprofessional. I felt like she was either accusing me of lying or incompetence. Second manager stepped in and then offered an exchange with my ID only. She was essentially insinuating some type of fraud/frequent returner issue but was unwilling to give details as to what she meant by that. I looked around didn't find anything to exchange that was in my size. Management was unwilling to give a store credit. Management was also unwilling to give me the regional managements name. It was a $26 return. I looked through my purchases over the last 12 months and have spent just under $1,500 on sportswear at Athleta. What a terrible experience with a company I purchase with often. I do want to say I have had nothing but great experiences at the Mission Viejo, CA, Alexandria, VA and Woodlands, TX locations. The Fashion Island location in Newport Beach was an awful experience and I will not be making purchases from there again. I will be calling customer service on Monday hopefully receiving some type of credit. read more

After viewing their online site, I've recently become a fan of Athleta designs. I've been to this brick and mortar location twice to view some of the clothing options in person. Athleta, I believe, competes somewhat with Lululemon for yoga/lounge/active set, however I feel hands down that Athleta has superior quality, design and prices!! The clothing wears and washes well and I will hands down purchase Athleta any day of the week over Lululemon. I go to the gym or yoga classes usually 7 days a week so it's important for me to have workout clothing that holds up well, is functional and also fun to wear This particular location of Athleta (and you don't find too many of their stores around) has friendly staff that makes you feel welcome and comfortable when you walk in. I like the fact that they have petite sizes in their work out pants. Overall an appealing retail space, with excellent service and products. I'd highly recommend this Athleta to anyone in the market for well made, serious work out clothing! read more

Lululemon, move aside, because Athleta is bigger, better, and generally trumps everything you make. 1) Athletic-wear: super soft, GOOD QUALITY, and available in sizes bigger than those made for skinny models. I'll be honest and say that some of their capris aren't my favorite for running, but the ones that I do like (Be Free Knicker) are like 35859x better than anything I've ever bought at lululemon. Also, they have so many styles of their tanks and tops that there is no way you won't find anything you don't like. 2) Street-wear: Athleta kicks lululemon crying all the way back home to Vancouver in this category. Comfy yet stylish jogger pants, and the Bettona jegging (which I lovingly refer to as my "cheat pants" because they're really just leggings that I can wear with flats or boots and they still look great), and super cute tops, sweaters, and dresses - I can even wear some to work. 3) Lounge-wear: some of the softest things you'll ever wear in your entire life. Period. Thank you and good night. 4) Sizing: Lululemon's largest size (12) is only a teensy bit big on me. And I'm only 5'5 and wear a pant size 28-29. That just seems wrong to me. Athleta has a much wider range of sizes. 5) Customer service and return policy: Ever felt judged at Lululemon because everyone who worked there was like a tall blonde model and you weren't? Then you were told that you only had 2 weeks to return something (with the original tag on) and that all "sale" items were final sale? Yeah, none of this bullcrap exists at Athleta. Not only do they match lulu's free alterations, they take back items even without a receipt or tag. I bought two dresses for a vacation, and while they felt great when I was standing, the side zipper dug into my ribs when I sat. I took them back months later, and they gave me a refund. Just like that. Lululemon, you could stand to learn a thing or two from Athleta. Or, I mean, you can keep making crappy quality clothing and see your stock continue to drop. read more

Everyone's got a guilty pleasure. For me, if it's not eating, it's shopping. And lately, I've been shopping for athletic gear. Running pants that make me look cute from behind and yoga tops that lie comfortably without embarrassing me, specifically. Going to lululemon is fine (but expensive), yet I guess I subconsciously wanted an alternative. I would see online ads for Athleta, but never a brick & mortar. So when I made eye contact with the signage at Fashion Island, it was a no-brainer. Their gear is a slightly more affordable, and even more stylish. Stuff I could imagine myself doing errands in before I workout. And while it's pricey, I'm drawn to it more and know the durability will outlast most every other piece I own...even my Nike clothing. I've purchased running pants with a skirt attached, a running skirt with shorts attached and a sleeveless blouse for yoga. All three have small zippered pockets for keys/money. The material is comfortable without being restricting. My blouse has a drawstring around the waist so I can adjust and not look so disheveled. Their return policy is as good as REI's, if you're not happy with the item after using it, return it, no sweat. Oh, I'll be going here every time I end up at Fashion Island. read more

I quote "the online is a totally separate store from us...you need your receipt...we can't look up your order #...we can only credit you the current sale price" considering both Banana Republic & The Gap are helpful with on-line order exchanges, it was shocking that Athleta and/or the tall blond girl provided a level of service more fitting for an Old Navy. The selection of clothes & the store were both great. And the first person who helped us, placed our clothes on hold (while we left to find the order # so we received full credit at her suggestion) was really nice. Sadly, the return experience really soured us on Athleta. We'll stick to Lululemon & Lorna Jane in the future, their service is always top notch! read more

I used to buy a lot of Lululemon and then I stopped for a while and decided to give Athleta a try. I wasn't disappointed! The associates were all super friendly and I was greeted multiple times. My daughter is too small for their kids products but they gave her a complimentary drawstring backpack bag anyway unprompted and it was a pleasant surprise. To contrast, I went into LLL after this and everyone ignored me. Despite the very friendly service, I didn't feel like they were pushy or sales-y and they really focused on my needs. I'll definitely shop here again. I didn't compare it with the online store but the instore selection seemed to be relatively comprehensive. You can also earn rewards for shopping here with any of the Gap family of credit cards. read more

We LOVE THIS BRAND. But, sadly, this was the absolute most apathetic, disinterested, absent sales staff we've encountered in any store We have ever shopped in. No greeting. No offer to start a dressing room until I was actually standing 1 foot away from the dressing rooms. We had arms full of clothes, store was not busy, and we had to help ourselves to a room. One sales person was actually looking at her phone and I had to ask her to squeeze by while shopping the rack, and she didn't even look up! We still spent a bunch of money because we like the product, but didn't feel good about taking our business to this store. Athleta has always been good to me, from customer service to the quality of their clothes. I feel like their clothes are way sturdier and thicker (particularly yoga pants - bye lulu sheerness ), not to mention they do free alternations. They also have a great return policy (are you taking notes lululemon?), where you can return ANYTIME, with or without tags, and free using their prepaid shipping label (for online orders). In addition, they also have a "give-it-a-workout" guarantee, meaning if you're worn it, and don't like it, they'll still take it back. Went to their grand opening today, which included free yoga and a free yoga mat (SCORE!). The store is good size but since it was their grand opening it was pretty packed. I've always been curious on their various products but they are on the pricey side and usually only venture on the sale/clearance section and have bought some items from them online. So I was interested in checking out their actual store, so that I could try on their products before thinking about buying. Especially their athletic products. Found a cute product here and there but price is still too pricey for me, it's similar to Lululemon prices and fits into the whole Fashion Island/Newport Beach/South OC demographic who have that kind of budget. I'm waiting for the sale/clearance section since they just opened they don't have one yet. BTW if you use their kiosk onsite to buy a product online, it's free shipping. read more

My best friend and I went in last night to check out there clothes, I received a gift card and have never shopped there before. Never in my adult life have I been so disappointed and disgusted with a sales person!! She seriously followed us around the store as if we were going to steal something. Every time we'd leave a section she'd rush over to make sure nothing was missing! It got so bad I purposely opened my jacket and shook it while walking out! I think Athleta must be tracking these reviews because their service is pretty good from what I've seen. I've always been greeted and helped out by sales staff - always offering to find stuff or help me order stuff online. In fact it sometimes gets a little overbearing since I just want to browse around and look at things to order later in the comfort of my home! I'm knocking off one star because the store's stock isn't brilliant and many older items that are in stock online are never to be found here. I know they've got an amazing returns policy but I'm still out a good amount of money until the refund is processed! Also there's only regular sizes and no tall/petite. Can't try stuff in store and decide if I want petite or to hem regular sizes. read more

This review is about the manager at the Newport Beach location, her name is Erika. First, I want to start off by stating that I live in San Diego and am a Pilates Instructor. I was introduced to Athleta on a trip to Newport Beach and fell in love. I must say I am surprised that it's not yet all over the place since their clothing is not only super cute, but great quality! I recently discovered they just opened shop here in San Diego in UTC center. I was there last week and was helped my a few girls, however I did not find some pants that I was looking for from a fall line catalog I received in the mail... So I called Newport and asked if they had them available. They had told me they were, my kids, husband and I drove this past Sunday to Newport to purchase them..... As for the store Manager at Newport Beach, Erika, she is awesome. She went out of her way to help and make things right after I found out that the pants I was told were there were not!! ( I know bummer ) My husband and I were so upset that we had droven all the way over there to find out they were not available, not to mention there was a horrible accident in the freeway and took FOREVER to get there... but she made it all better. I just wanted to tell her my family and I appreciate you going out of your way to make it right, and I will forever be faithful to Athleta! I might just have to drive to Newport next time. The staff here are incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was just here, shopping with my mom, and the staff could not have worse. Everything spoken was in a short, terse sentence. "Are you done?" When my mom came out of the dressing room. "Are you going to get anything?" Not a smile to be seen. We were made to feel like a nuisance for having come in to shop for their horrendously overpriced clothing. I had high hopes and expectations for this store opening in Fashion Island. I was dying to try some of their clothes for fit before I ordered their merch online. I was wondering how it was going to compete with Lululemon a few doors down, and Lucy down the block? Well now I know, there is not much of a competition. Athleta caters to a different type of fitness shopper than Lulu. I would consider it a cross between REI and Lucy. When I walked in the store, I wasn't greeted. I started browsing through the merchandise and when some older ladies walked in, the store came running out to welcome them. Ughh. and these ladies were wearing fanny packs and visors. I picked up a few items to try on and a young employee offered to take my things into a fitting room. After I was done browsing, I found her and told her I was ready. She pointed me in the direction but didn't walk me back to my room. Once in the fitting room (I had the biggest room), I became frustrated with the layout of the room. The mirror was too close, and I felt like it was on the wrong side of the wall. The opposite wall had a shelf rack with hooks. No need for shelves Athleta, hooks will suffice. The shelf hit me in the back of my head when I tried to step back and look at my outfit in the mirror. When I left my room, no one asked me if I needed anything or how it went in there. I was simply ignored yet I saw at least 8 employees on the floor. Now for the merchandise. Prices are inexpensive, cheaper than lulu, but not much cheaper than Lucy when they have their sales. Quality is OK. The pants/tights I tried on had this ridiculous sheen to them when stretched out. Making it ugly and cheap. I didn't try on the tops, but they do look supportive , for women with triple E bra sizes. I heard an employee introduce the store to a new customer, and she announced that this store opened with their new fall line. On their website they have some really fun vibrant colors, but in store everything was drab for fall. Think olives, purples, grays, etc. I'll check back again next year around spring time to see if they've made any improvements. In the meantime, I am young, jovial and workout to stay fit. I love to feel great in what I wear and walking through Athleta was just depressing. I'll stick to browsing their items online, or check back in the springtime. read more

I gave two chances to this place and they failed. Many reviewed their customer service as "horrible", I should've listened and tried other location. First time I went there, I tried three items and the sales associate said "are you going to get anything?!" in very rude tone. This employee definitely had no clue about her job. Second time, there were no customer service at all. I went in, looked through items alone, got myself a fitting room (I even wrote my name on their chalkboard myself) came out fitting room without their employees bothering me. and walked towards casher. I thought to myself "It's like apple store, except they don't ask us if we have any questions". I actually thought "this can work.." I like this a lot better than rude employees pretend to help me. I thought I am going to make it out of the store this time without their sales associate making me feel horrible..but Nope. No can do. At the casher area, their manager was on the phone with customer--obviously the customer was annoying her because it was all over her face (rolling eyes and all) and few customers (including myself) watching her do it. I called them once to ask about their product-- now I know what she was doing while I asked a question. My daughter lives right next to Fashion Island so I went there for the second time. This one was my fault. I won't do it again. I wonder if their corporate leadership watch their reviews. They should. All the successful companies do. I noticed that there were new Yoga clothing store across from Athletica--I'm going to check them out. read more
