This store has a wide variety of unique and beautiful items. However, if the women behind the counter were trying to give a message that I was not welcome there, they've succeeded. I was taken aback when I was not ever greeted. I wasn't offered any assistance as I walked around. I attempted to engage the women behind the counter when I was paying, but I felt dismissed. I loved the items I purchased, and the decorative environment is charming. I have been there twice. Unfortunately, the poor customer service spoiled the experience each time. This is the PERFECT place to buy local, hand-crafted gifts like candles, jewelry, soaps, trinkets etc. I've been here multiple times and have loved their earrings and candle scent selections. And the workers are always so friendly! read more

I was at Garage Door for a calligraphy class. The class was great. They have a variety of class offerings on their website. The space is cozy but not tiny. It has a farmhouse look and feel inside. Parking in front is limited but here is a shared lot behind the building. The store has loads of items for sale from local artisans....unique jewelry, house decor items, candies, cards, art, and more. I called for more information before going there and a very nice human being answered and helped me. Nice place! read more

I'm giving two stars not because of the art and gifts sold. There were a lot of amazing art works/pieces from local artists. It's sad that the woman behind the counter was too busy in her phone to assist customers or maybe it was because I did not have the right "look." I inquired about art classes (there were a few written on the window ) she directed me to the website. "Everything is on there. " It felt like she was as politely as possible trying to get me out her face. If you tell me there are 26 classes. At least give me some examples and some times. I do not see how you can work some where and not know the "product." I was disappointed with the customer service. I love shopping local and especially supporting artists. I recently visited as a way to introduce myself to the neighborhood as a business owner and it felt as if "my kind" wasn't wanted there. Not friendly and since they didn't address me I went out of my way to introduce myself... no positive greeting at all. It was as if I was bothering them or I was a danger to them. I just read a recent Google review where someone experienced the SAME treatment as if they wanted them to "stay on their side of the tracks/as if we were shoplifters." It was heartbreaking because I showed it to my wife and told her "they did the same thing to me." If we both felt strong enough to stop and leave reviews with the same experience then you need to do some serious reflections on how y'all treat African-Americans or just come out and tell us if we are welcomed there at all. My wife wanted to go back but it isn't worth our time or money. Sad this still exists. read more

I can't say enough about this place!!! It has become not only my 'go-to' place for gift buying but it's my daughter's FAVORITE camp she goes to all summer. They offer art, sewing, crafts, etc. They also have girls nights out where they teach classes as well. My husband and I went in here to browse after eating brunch at Rising Sun. Although it's a cute lil crafty store with tons of merch crafted by local artisans, the lack of customer service killed the overall experience. We never got greeted even though we were the only ones in the entire shop. Never once got spoken to until we were ready to check out. Once I made my purchase, the cashier simply said to me "you're all set" rather than a humble "thank you". If you want to run a successful business, great customer service MUST be exercised! Overdue and necessary review. I paid $68 for a class. I had a health flare which made me late, but, I did arrive with about 90 minutes left to the class. The instructor told me it'd be better for my sake to join another class as she wanted me to get the full experience. I appreciated this, though would have liked to have participated given the long journey, and said so. I emailed Jen Singh, one of the owners, that it was unlikely I could attend another class for a long while, seeing the schedule of the classes I could take, and given my schedule in light of said health flare-up. I asked for a refund as a result but Jen refused to refund my money.This is despite her instructor being who redirected (would have taken the class that night, otherwise). Jen additionally spoke (in email) caustically, then manipulatively pined for sympathy for her as 'a business owner'. Jen Singh (a) was given money for a service and did not deliver it -- this is theft (b) she knowingly stole from a medically-comprised person. Jen Singh behaved shamefully and fraudulently. read more

I love this place. I've taken 2 classes there that were top notch, even for someone with a bonafide art and design background, and quite enjoyable. They have a killer store to shop in with local products (support small business!) that has become one of my first places to go whenever I need a card or a gift for anyone (or for myself eheheh). We held our daughters 7th birthday party here and it was perfect in every way! The kids were amply entertained with a horse themed art project we had pre-designed with Jenn. Best part was how reasonable it was for such a cool space. It included the supplies plus they led everything for us and I was able to set up a cake/snack table. We left with one happy birthday girl.
