Rolando and his crew are the real deal--apparently he's been in the the tree business for 20+ years now. We're so happy to support a Mexican-owned Oakland business! We called Rolando for an emergency job when one of our acacia trees toppled over after the recent Dragon Storm. Rolando was on-site within a couple hours and his crew shortly thereafter to get to work. Since they got a late start they had to finish picking up the pieces early the next morning, but the entire job was done in ~10 hours or so. Nothing was left of the tree except the few pieces we wanted to keep. The crew did an excellent job of tidying up the yard after they were finished. We called Rolando back to remove another (this time upright) acacia tree and the crew showed up early and were pleasant to interact with. We HAD a gorgeous magnolia tree in our back yard. Our neighbor asked us to trim it. I called Garcia and Fernando came out and said he could do it that day and that he would get back to me. I heard nothing back and was going to call him when I realized that people were in the backyard cutting the tree. No one called, emailed, texted or rang the door bell. No notice or contact or anything. hey just started cutting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fernando was not there but his brother Rolando was there as the boss. A team of guys were chopping away at our tree. I asked Rolando why there was no communication or notice and all he could say was "sorry"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I told him that I wanted the tree to be just under our neighbors upper patio and rounded off. Also to be very sensitive about the birds. This is exactly what I told his brother Fernando. They completely disregarded what we asked for and chopped to the balcony below the first.... an extra 12 or so feet, cut it flat on top, and thinned it out so much that we have now zero privacy. Also it is so low now that when we look out the window we don't even see it. I used to look out and see flowers or beautiful red buds and birds. Also, I looked up how to cut these trees and it says that the tree can die if they blunt cut the branches. which they did. On top of that they cut off almost all of the buds so we will only get a few flowers next year if any. The tree was full of bird nests which I was told they would cut around or move carefully. Right now there are zero nests that I can see. We are SO hugely upset. This is an heirloom tree that our grandmother planted and we feel like it has been massacred. They apologized and said that we don't have to pay but that does not fix anything. It will be many years for this tree to recover and hopefully it won't be damaged and get sick. We are heartbroken over this. I would NEVER recommend this company. What a terrible experience. read more

He arrived and had a conversation with the individual on the property. They informed him as to what 2 trees needed to be taken down. He looked and gave an estimate of around $800. The crew did an excellent job pruning the City of Oakland Sycamore tree that was overgrown and dropping branches every time it was windy. They climbed the tree using safety gear and did a nice job keeping a healthy, natural shape while pruning out dead branches and the smaller growth. Their competitors either bid a much higher amount, or couldn't make it out to do the work for a month. We had a massive branch that had fallen off of our tree into our yard, as well as a bunch of trees that hadn't been worked on in over a decade. Rolando Garcia and his crew of seven very hard working, able bodied, hard working professional men, showed up in two large trucks at exactly 9:00 AM, as the owner had promised me. They worked for almost five hours, taking one break for lunch at noon. They completely removed a 90 foot tall conifer that was a real fire hazard to our home, as it was over hanging not only over our roof, but also our fireplace chimney! They also thinned out an overgrown Oak tree that was becoming so large that it was sending branches out over our roof. The city fire inspector would have flunked us how do you seen these two major fire hazards. One of the workers remained inside of a 2 1/2 ton stake truck, using his chainsaw to make everything fit so they could haul away all of the slash with one truckload. When they had finally finished their project, they gathered up every tiny little twig from the ground on the stairway leading up to their truck, and left my property cleaner than it was before they arrived. By the was, their price is very competitive! In fact I couldn't find anyone to do this job for less money!. This is the second time I have used Garcia's professional tree service, and I plan on using them again, in the very near future. It is absolutely fascinating how the one man, who actually climbs up the tall tree and removes branches, as he gains altitude, with a small chainsaw. When he removes the last branch, which he lowers down slowly to the ground on a heavy duty nylon rope, then he starts cutting short segments of the actual trunk, and less them free-fall all the way to the ground. He made it look so easy! I could not believe how quickly he performed all of these tasks! He has to be as strong as an ox, and has nerves of steel! Rolando and his team ate the BEST!!!! I have a SEVERE Oak pollen allergy (sinus headaches, vertigo, a huge purple/red blister when an oak branch scraped my leg). Unfortunately for me, Oak trees in my city are protected and require an act of God to be removed. As if that wasn't enough, the oak tree in my yard has "Drippy Oak Disease" (Erwinia quercina). The result is that in the summer months, the tree drips sticky sap all over my car, driveway, and the steps and handrails on my porch. And then the sap attracts/is caused by flies and gnats. There is no effective treatment and Oak trees continue to thrive in spite of it all. I suffered through this until my neighbors introduced me to this company. Even though I am not allowed to remove this oak tree, Rolando and his team are experts and stripping the branches and leaves which make me sick/miserable year round. Yes, my tree looks like Groot (at my request), but you cannot put a price on not having to deal with vertigo. As a plus, Rolando and his team have great attention to detail. I told him that I didn't want to destroy any bird nests in the tree. They spotted a nest and were able to expertly work around it, preserving the nest and the surrounding foliage.
