Definitely one of the better Mexican food places in Glasgow, the salsa was great , the staff were friendly and prices were fair.

In Glasgow there aren't many options for Mexican food, but I can say honestly that Garcia's is a step above your average Mexican restaurant. I recently visited the area for a concert event and we thought we'd grab a bite. The staff was polite and seated us right away. After a brief moment drinks & chips and salsa hit the table, pretty standard stuff. We ordered and after a short wait my quesadilla arrived, served on a large square plate it looked awful fancy and tasted great, for that matter everyone's food at the table looked fantastic. It was more food than we were prepared to eat. Only complaint the prices were not on the printed menu, only the QR coded version included the prices. When dining with friends I try to keep the phones in the pockets. These online menus open the door for a boring dinner of browsing social media, I digress. Garcia's is a decent Mexican restaurant with good service. Is it the best Mexican meal I've ever had? No. Is it the worst? Definitely not. But that's what you get when you add it all up. I really like the seating. The booths have super tall backs on them, and this gives the illusion that you are in a much more private setting than you actually are. I wish more restaurants would utilize these type of booths. Service here is good, perhaps a tad slow, but good nonetheless. You might have to wait longer than you'd like, but they will get to you. I went with the chicken fajitas. They are good. But the problem is that other Mexican restaurants have upped their game so much over the past couple of years. Garcia's seems to be stuck in a 90s rut in the flavor department. Same goes with the rice, beans, guacamole ~ heck, even the chips and salsa. Again, they're not bad. But they don't have the freshness. They don't have the zing. They don't have what the competition is bringing today. So, I'm not saying avoid Garcia's. You'll like it ok. I mean, look above at how many times I wrote "Good". Probably four or five times. Kinda boring, right? You just don't get past that. That's about it. Good. Garcia's bills themselves as "A different kind of Mexican restaurant." They do not define different, which I guess is okay, but it does leave you wondering what to expect. We stopped in to celebrate a friend's birthday on the way home from a weekend at the lake. It was a Sunday afternoon, and we were seated immediately. The decor is interesting - darker, trendier, with Esty-type touches that do not immediately lend toward a Mexican vibe. Our server, though pleasant, seemed distracted, and was not very prompt at refilling either our water glasses, or chips/salsa (there were six of us, and we sort of love chips and salsa). When he took our orders, he confused mine and someone else's, which resulted in my vegetarian enchiladas arriving without cheese, and the other diner's burrito accompanied by sautéed veggies, rather than the desired black beans. Despite this, the food was tasty, although the portion sizes were smaller than I would expect for the price. The birthday celebration, however, was phenomenal. Not only did the staff surround our birthday friend and sing her a raucous birthday song, they provided a festive sombrero to crown her head, a tasty sopapilla to enjoy, and a napkin-full of whipped cream to smash into her face - perfection. read more

Garcia's Grill offers some great tasting food that is a little elevated over what the typical Mexican restaurant offers. They have great tamales that remind me of the winter holiday season. Let's get down to what we come here for the food. I ordered camaron a la diabla which is shrimp with hot salsa and a side of black bean and rice and little bit of vegetables! The shrimp had and Okay flavor and texture! But I definitely had better! The vegetables we're okay. The rice had no flavor and the beans old and dried! I'm highly disappointment! The atmosphere is modern and relaxed. My family enjoyed their food (beef burrito and beef chipotle burrito) but I was a bit disappointed by their version of a vegetarian burrito. The burrito had large crispy veggies and little flavor. The salsa has large chunks of tomatoes in it and was very watery. I ordered a spicy version to get so flavor going and that helped. This place Is a gourmet local twist on the everyday Mexican menu we have become accustomed to. Garcias has a unique menu with several choice selections you don't normally find like grilled bourbon pork chops or tillapia. What I really like is the knowledge our waiter had about select and hard to find premier tequilas. Our waiter gave us a selection of several premium mezcals that you won't find in an average liquor store at all, and the prices were very fair. Would leave 0 stars if possible. My family of 4 went on Sunday afternoon around 12:20pm. We stood up front waiting on someone to sit us for about 5 minutes. Once seated we waited 20 minutes for a server while others were seated and had there drink orders all around us. My wife then got up and asked if there was anyone available to take our order. The lady at the front told us someone would be with us shortly. Waited another 10 minutes while people were still being served all around us. At that point we got up and left the establishment.
