Good standard Mexican fare. . .consistent from visit to visit. Service was fast and attentive.

Good service but food was over priced and underwhelming. I feel like we got the whitewashed version of Mexican food for double the cost. Example, I ordered a side of guacamole for $7.99 and got it in a container the same size of that which held my salad dressing. Additionally, I ordered steak and shrimp for $16.49 and received finely diced onions and bell peppers (maybe a 1/4 cup), an over cooked tiny steak, and the smallest shrimp I have ever seen which were heavily salted. The salad was the best part of my meal. Definitely not going to come back just based on the feeling that I didn't get what I paid for. read more

I worked at this location back in the day. Which was a Tuesday. Actually it wasn't, but it was like forever ago, before Y2K... yet the same micro-manager is still running the joint and I don't think much has changed since. The food? Average at best. The service? Meh. This place survives because of it's location and the fact that very few people in Idaho Falls know what Mexican food should taste like. Husband took me out on a date night, we decided on Garcias, I love mexican food so on to Garcias, the salsa was delicious and the bean dip also. The food came very hot on our plates as expected. The waiter was a very nice Gentleman and made sure everything was in order. I was very pleased with the service, food and drinks. Hostess could've been more pleasant. I'm from out of town as a disclaimer. Overall the restaurant It was ok. The salsa tasted like it was from a jar however the chips were good. The cheese enchilada was pretty good. The beef tamale was dry. The beef burrito was fine. The charro beans were delicious. It was like everything came from a package rather than made fresh. Everything seemed pretty bland. Good Food, just not terribly authentic. We just moved to the area from CA and really miss good Spicy Mexican food, seems the further North you go the more wimpy the Mexican food gets ;-) Our waiter was very nice and very attentive. Atmosphere is a lot of fun. Staff gets a B+. Bean dip and (carmel) fried ice cream are the best in town. I am giving them 3 stars because we have been loyal customers for years and WOW have the prices gone up. They have started to nickel and dime you and my chili relenos are now 14.00. So if you are not a penny pincher like me, Garcias is great, colorful and clean. And the mexican hat dance music puts me in a good mood. read more

Literally my family's go to. They always know that if they ask where I want to go this is the place. The service is always decent, the food is to die for and they have in house made tortilla chips. Can't get better than that. The menu has a wide selection and everything I've tried is delicious. The family that runs the place is so nice and does a wonderful job. It's always clean and the landscape in the summer time is absolutely beautiful. Plus they have a patio. Absolute favorite restaurant in all of Idaho Falls. read more

This used to a good restaurant. The past few times we have tried giving it another chance it seems like the food is dry or over spiced, and the beans for dipping are cold. They still have good salsa and chips, but when it comes to the meal don't expect much. read more

Went to Garcia's last night after a long day on the road. In the first five minutes of sitting down we had three different staff members ask us what we would like to drink. Have been here 3 to 4 times and really like the atmosphere, the food is not bad but had the fish tacos the other day and was unable to even eat one. I really enjoy fish tacos usually but these were overpowering with the taste of old fish. My girlfriend had chicken that was obviously sitting on a steamtable for quite awhile cause some of it was brown and some of it was white.. Staff friendly and understanding as they took off the fish tacos with no issues. We were very excited to eat here, may return but not with the same feeling towards the place.... read more

I am from Arizona and love Mexican food. I was highly disappointed with the food as well as the service! With the small selection of restaurants we have in this town its too bad that I won't be going back to Garcia's. Save your money and go to taco bell it would be more cost effective and taste better! read more

Garcia's is the worst restaurant I've eatin at. I was not aloud to do certain substations in my meal do to the manager. My server told me there would be a change in price, which I was more than ok with, I would pay. But no I ordered something else. I do not understand if someone is willing to pay the price why would you not do it to satisfy the customer. Not worth the waste of time. read more

The food was good, but the service was horrible. We went in during happy hour. They were quite busy but I have never been treated so poorly at a place of business in my life. The waitress was too busy flirting with all the men to even wait on us. I had to get our menu's (after asking and then waiting 10 minutes) and our to go boxes. She completely ignored our table all together. And twice, while ordering and asking for things (like drinks) she walked away in the middle of my sentence, not allowing us to finish speaking. Before leaving, I spoke to the manager to address my concerns and he pretty much blew me off too. I would never go there again and would never recommend anyone else going there either read more

Food is OK, not very authentic either. They had this plastic cheese looking thing with flags on it.......I think it was there signature dish. When it came to our table, I thought it was a display item. It tasted as it looked. We also had a fajita dish that OK. The appetizers were the better part of the meal. I would imagine it is a good Happy Hour place if the Margaritas are good. Otherwise there is better in IF or Ammon. read more

Okay wow what a dinner I was hungry like eat a deer hungry. I got hear and Zachary at the bar offered me the best margarita ever" El Magnifico". It was the best ever. Horrible dining experience! Home for the holidays and decided to try it and the nicest way to put it is disappointing. Not only was the service poor and slow our waiter had the audacity to bring up a community petition circulating about a football program. (not the time or place). So my family and I decided to go out for the first time in about 6 months, which happened to also be the last time we ate at Garcia's which was good. We got there Sunday about 6 pm. Pretty much dead besides a few amount of people in the bar area watching football. We were seated promptly, our chips, salsa, and beans came right away. We had a few big chips and the rest of the basket of chips was broken and crumbs like we got the bottom of the bag. So I let that slide, didn't complain, and went on with the meal. We finally got our meal Nachos, Burrito Grande, and 2 kids meals of mac n cheese and fries. The mac n cheese was stone cold along with the less than par fries which were also cold and also looked like it came out of the bottom of the bag!! Maybe 10 fries total. I can get a better kids meal at McDonald's for a cheaper price!! So they took it and so called warmed it up, brought it back and still freaking cold. Disgusting!! I know they are kids and probably don't care, but my oldest said it was gross. And that is what they probably feel like is they are kids so we don't need to make theirs as good. WRONG!! So I finally got around to eating my meal my rice was hard, tasted old, and nasty!! My Burrito Grande which was chicken and not suppose to be covered in onions, and peppers was. Doesn't say that on the menu, it says that on the other Burrito they have. It was also suppose to be shredded chicken and I mostly got chunks. So I said something and they told me this is how they make it all the time, I said no I order it every time and has never been like this. When I normally order it, it is so big that I have to take 1/2 home full of shredded chicken, smothered in enchilada sauce and cheese which it was not!! I even asked my server before she took my order if it was smothered she said yes. So the flavor was just mush and the rice was sick!! I am only giving 2 stars because my husband said his nachos were good, but really how hard is it to melt cheese on some freaking chips!! They did comp the kids meals, but I was already pissed so it didn't matter. Let's just say we will not be going back!! I would rather go to Taco Bell!!! read more

If you eat here and don't get food poisoning, the experience is definitely worthwhile. I have eaten here on many occasions, but got miserably sick with food poisoning twice...confirmed by my doctor! However, the food, service, atmosphere is normally so good, I've chanced coming back at least another 4 or 5 times with very good results. I say...take a chance and good luck! read more
