During the first week of our month long stay in the Dorsoduro, we happened on this restaurant for a dinner without a reservation. It was early enough, so Marco seated us outside. What a happy circumstance because the food is excellent, and the service friendly and efficient. We shared the Impepata di Cozze (mussels), and had secondi dishes of Tentacolo di Piovra (octopus), and Salmone. For the record, we returned to this gem of a restaurant 4 times during our stay, and I had that octopus every single time!! We travel extensively and eat in some of the world's great restaurants, and their octopus is some of the very best that I have ever had. It is perfectly cooked, very flavorful, and almost fork-tender. I'm definitely going to miss it. The aforementioned mussels were also very good and plentiful...enough for two. Needless to say, everything that we've had has been really good...so says my wife...because I always had the octopus LOL. This is a family run restaurant...Marco runs the front of the house along with his sister-in-law, Julia, while his wife Denada is the chef. What a team!!! And even when things get hopping, their service is fast and friendly. You can see lots of pictures of the food, but I'm posting one of these three who are the hard working owners who make it all happen...who will give you some of the best food and service that you'll get in La Serenissima. Do yourself a favor and wander into Campo Santa Margarita and the Garden Bistrot, and let these three dedicated restaurateurs wow you. Just do it!!!

Great ambience, attentive staff and delicious food that tastes fresh and light. Would recommend, especially the seafood pasta and tiramisu.

10/10! Could not recommend this place enough. The owner/staff provided top tier service. The food was beyond fantastic & they have a great selection to choose from. For being a tourist I felt like I was treated like a local, had to come back again before I left Venice because thats how good the first experience was. Don't sleep on this fabulous restaurant, you may regret it!

Amazing service by Marco and fantastic food. Great location in a quiet square where the locals hang out. Kid friendly and welcoming. Order the sea bass for two-cut and served table side!

Marco's table-side service of Denada's amazing fish and vegetables.

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.

What better way to spend it than wandering around Venice and enjoying dinner at Rossopomodoro? They're still in the "Italy training program" and these menus tend to confuse them, so after three weeks here I felt obligated to guide them toward the promised land. After much studying, debating, and staring at menus, it was finally time to order. I went with the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, and the wife and I shared a salad. When that salad hit the table, it nearly stole the entire show. We drizzled on a little balsamic vinaigrette, added a shake of salt and pepper, and suddenly we were ready to dance right there in the alley. Fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, crisp greens--every ingredient tasted like it had been picked that morning. It was outstanding. The pasta was very good, but today the salad was the undisputed champion of the meal. Of course, dining outside along Venice's busy walkways only adds to the experience. Watching people pass by while enjoying great food is one of those simple pleasures that makes Venice such a special place. Rossopomodoro delivered a fantastic meal and a great evening. The newcomers survived their first full day in Italy, and I'd say they're off to a pretty good start.
