A ton of tourists. The only dish we enjoyed was the frittura misto. The pastas looked good, but bland and weren't that great. There was one table of Italians next to us and the waitress and them were talking about the (many) Chinese people and making fun of tourists.

We did not enjoy any of our food here. This seemed to be the worst place we went to when it came to seafood. The service was okay, but I don't recommend as the food just wasn't good.

For our last evening in Venice, we chose Trattoria Bar Pontini because of its great reviews and ratings. We were not disappointed. You have to make a reservation if you want to dine here. It is a very popular restaurant with good reason. The atmosphere is joyful and upbeat. They had a table ready and waiting for us. Fabio was a terrific owner - he sailed through the restaurant making everyone feel welcome. I ordered the Cotoletta Vitella all Milanese, which was huge and perfectly battered and fried. I also ordered an Insalata Mista. My husband enjoyed the Filetto di Manzo Gorgonzola along with roast potatoes. I have to tell you they were the best roasted potatoes we had in all of Italy. They were to die for - crisp - not greasy - just fantastic! He finished with an enormous Tiramisu. One thing is for sure, you will not leave hungry from Trattoria Pontini.

The food was good and the ambiance was decent. However, I was a bit concerned about the cleanliness of this place. First complaint is that I ordered a drink and it came with a bug in it. That's not the biggest deal in the world, it's pretty gross but bugs do what bugs do. Still a little concerning that no one noticed before it got to my table. Second complaint was that the water cups we were given were already wet. They weren't warm like they had recently been washed either, they had just been sitting in the cupboard with still water in them. Very gross. It was also nearly impossible to get any of the waitresses' attention. We must've said "scusi" six or seven times before we got them to notice us, and when we finally did we had to lean into the aisle between the tables so they physically couldn't not see us.

Europe 2023 - Venice We tried to visit this restaurant the night before but it was flooded do to high tide, so we came the next day and are so glad we did. While sitting here it was non-stop full and people were coming to the door asking for reservations. We sat outside and enjoyed a cool afternoon, ordering a couple of Birra Grandes and to our surprise they were a local Italian IPA. Birra Artiganale dei Mari. I ordered the seafood spaghetti, which was full of clams, mussles, crawfish and tomatoes. Tasted fantastic. The beef tenderloin was in a balsamic sauce that tasted amazing too.

Do no come here. It's so overhyped. The staff is constantly rushing you. I got the pasta with shrimp and it with literally only 3 small pieces and heavy. Heavy seafood smell.

Our boat driver recommended this place to us and it truly was amazing. The food was delicious and i loved the space. Many people came in to talk with the owner and it gave family and friends local vibe. My husband and I split the caprese. He had the pasta with the mushrooms and scallops and I had the pasta with prawns. Both were delicious. The star was the massive tiramisu we split that was the best we ever had. Thank you for such a great experience in Venice!

Loved the food here! The sea food was delicious and everything was perfectly seasoned. Service was fast and helpful. What I truly enjoyed about this place was location and the view. I always imagined eating in a place like this when visiting Venice and this place was just as I imagined it would be. I hope I can go back one day soon!

Best meal I had in all of Italy. The shrimp was perfect, so was the fish in the squid ink pasta. Everything was fresh and the seafood taste really shined. The pasta was the perfect texture and the sauce was light and coated the noodles perfectly. I must return soon.

Their seafood pasta is everything, you MUST order it. It's fresh and it's the one dish I still dream about after my Italy trip. The squid ink pasta wasn't for me. It was okay but my taste buds were not feeling it. It was very popular on all the reviews so I wanted to try it. Service was very warm and welcoming. Our waiter was attentive and caring. He pretty much danced around and helped everyone effortlessly. It was amazing to see. You'll recognize him because addresses the ladies as "amore". He's wonderful!

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.

From the moment we arrived, the owner, Marco, made us feel genuinely welcome. He explained that the food is Sicilian and quite different from what you typically find in Venice, which was exactly what we were hoping for after days of similar menus. The menu is short, focused, and built around family recipes. We ordered the pasta of the day, the roast beef, and the smoked salmon dish, and every single item was fantastic. To finish, we had limoncello made by Marco's mother, and it was absolutely delicious. What really made the evening special was Marco and his family. They were warm, kind, and genuinely happy to share their story with us. We loved hearing about his late father and the lasting impact he had on both the family and the restaurant. One of the most memorable parts of the night was joining in the restaurant tradition of coloring pictures and exchanging them with drawings already hanging on the ceiling. We ended up taking home a picture created by a family member, and it will be making the journey back with us to Carlsbad, California. Without a doubt, this was the best dining experience of our entire trip through Europe. Highly recommended!!

For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!
