I got a late night food comp and Garden Café was the once restaurant open. I went over and was seated immediately and the restaurant was not busy at all. I ordered the Fried Pork Chops and garden side salad. The waiter was very friendly and did well to check up on me but I wish he refilled my water and my iced tea. My salad came out quickly and my main entrée came out in about 15 minutes so I didn't need to wait long as some other reviewers complained about. My food came out super hot. The fried pork chop were fried with Chicken batter which was different but delicious. The food was a little salty but I didn't mind it as the flavor was good. I'm sorry but I'm not impressed. However, I took into consideration what it is. It's simply a quick bite in case you get hungry after all the gambling. However I do not gamble and for the folks like me who came just to have a meal I'm sorry. We had the steak, mash and veg. We also tried the crab omelette. It was palatable but nothing to rave about. Mom and I were desperate for food late at night. We asked the waiter who was very friendly and helpful. He suggested the seafood platter and fresh veggies. The food was good and because we came in so late with a great attitude they slipped us some extra food. I think they liked my Mom's sense of humor. She kept looking at the high prices on the menu and asking what type of jewelry came with the food. She was serious and the food was overpriced. It is convenience food so don't come here looking for inexpensive food. The service was great. The food was good. The seating was so comfortable and being able to people watch while you eat is priceless. Oh the sights you see as the main room closes. The looks of extreme dismay and disbelief on the players faces as they add up the purchase receipts and feel their pockets for money. The service is always ridiculously slow. Slower than a 100 yr old turtle trudging through cold molasses. Slow! But the food is always good. So I guess that makes up for it somewhat. The fried chicken and omelets are amazing. Just don't be in a hurry! read more

Well, let me start by saying that I have not eaten here. I was looking for a place that is open on Thanksgiving. I figured the restaurants at the casino might be open. Anyway, I got a hold of Garden Cafe's phone number and that is where my adventure began. Over the course of 3 or 4 days, I've been calling them. No one picked up the phone. This was at different times of the day. Could they be so busy that they's let the phone ring 20+ times? Doubtful. I called Dover Downs' operator and asked to be connected to Garden Cafe. After about 15 or so rings (not sure why I waited that long), someone finally picked up. Good news, right? Wrong! I was greeted and asked to please hold. I said "sure". I waited 15 minutes (I must be a glutton for punishment). Guess what happened next. Someone from there picked up the phone, and without checking to see if there was someone waiting, hung up. This tells me all I need to know about the Garden Cafe. They are obviously so financially flush that they don't really need anyone to eat there. Must be nice. Screw them. read more

The wife had the Philly Cheesesteak (no onions, which is a sin) and I had the Chicken Caesar Salad. The sandwich was very salty, the fries were cold, and the cheese was swiss. The Salad was good. OMG all I can say is Down Down Down HILL! It should be named Dover Down HILL Cafe!! I been going there for 20 years and this past weekend was the last straw!! Don't be open 24 hours if you can't get food out within a reasonable time! And the servers that work there act like they been out all night! I had been playing inside casino for 12 hours and I was really staving! I wanted to eat before going to bed so I would be able to sleep in and skip breakfast! Walked up to hostess stand stood there until I said to crowd of employees talking and laughing Should I seat myself?? So one girl walk over and wasn't friendly at all and sat me and I sat there for 10 mins before anyone came and there were only 7 tables in the whole place! I seen one table had already ate and we're just sitting talking so there were only 6 tables that had no food! I should of gotten clue then!! So server did take my order which was Chicken tenders and a Club Sand.i ordered Water which I never got I went out to soda machine and got my own!! I watched another waiter waiting on his tables and he seemed to be more together but still wasn't serving anyone food! No one had food! The girl server I had was totally clues less and didn't care if I got served or not! I couldn't even find her!! Some people walked out cause I saw tables with menus still on table! I can not believe I waited one and a half hours and still no food! I asked for manager and all no one came! My server must of left too! I saw another table get there food and they came in 20 mins after me but they had tall male server! And they got Steak dinners!! I moved over to there table talking with them and they couldn't believe I wasn't getting anything to eat! So I yelled across the dining room and said Hello is anybody getting my food!! So out of no where that little girl server came running up and said it won't be much longer! Lol lol I told her it's been over a hour!! I use to always go to Sweet Perks when it was open 24 hours and always got good food and friendly service I can't believe on weekends it is closed early! That garden Cafe is a total joke I spent a lot of money in that casino I don't need to be treated like total dirt! I am a 60 year old woman that deserves respect! I got none that night!! If you can't find good help then you should shut that place down! Don't be 24 hours just to say you have a all night restaurant! That place needs help bad! It's a joke!! I have eaten there many times and it's always been bad service and food always takes forever but Fri nite took the cake for me! NEVER AGAIN!!! I been going to Dover for over 20 years now and really this past weekend I thought service all around wasn't up to par look like there were a lot of new employees! I think someone needs more training! I was staying at hotel for 2 nites and best service I got was from the front desk and from little guy working Sat.nite on the 9th floor VIP room! He was a hard worker and was so sweet! I gave him nice tip and he did appreciate it too! But other then that I thought the service in Fire & Ice wasn't that good on Fri nite for Cino de mayo party! The bartender we had was nice but she served us Shrimp Quesdillas with no plates or napkins!! And when I asked she said doesn't come with!! Lol lol it was my hubby and my best friend and we ordered two orders! We all looked at each other and was cracking up!! So bartender said well I get you napkins and gave us cocktail napkins! Lol lol I said we need real napkins! It took her a while but we did get the larger napkins but they should of had paper plates for that food!! I know they don't always do food there! But get it together!! Anyway I hope that casino doesn't fall short like a lot of casinos! I know they use to pride there casino with best 5 star service ! You have to take this for what it is...and that's a diner in a casino. You don't seek these places out. You simply eat there because, well, they're there. At around midnight on a Thursday, had a pretty decent dinner. Burger was good. Wife enjoyed her pot stickers. A lot better than it should have been. Waiter was friendly. read more

Need to update this place. Looks old and everything looks outdated. My steak and cheese was pretty good. My wife's hot wings was cold though. Maybe they was just having a bad day. Leland L. you will like it even less next time as the whole menu has changed since February! But the prices all increased while the quality sucks. I usually got the bourbon steak and now they have a piece of rawhide they call steak and it cost $3 more. Steak subs and club etc. all went from $9 to at least $11 and even slower service. Wanted plain chicken wings and they were so hot i only ate 1. Next visit told the cashier what happened and she went to the kitchen several times to make sure they were just fried chicken wings. Guess what they came the same way as before,have no idea what she was doing in the kitchen but it wasn't about my food.Next time it's Popeye's down the highway where they know what there doing!
