    Carne asada burrito
    Jaz M.

This place is amazing!!! A Mexican market with a carneceria and resteraunt. This place is a true gem and the food is a must if your ever in the area. The market has all the essentials and the carneceria from what I hear has very good quality meat. They sell fresh fruits, veggies, and some other grocery items. The carneceria is located at the front of the market and the resteraunt is the the very back of the market. They do have a couple tables outside for you to eat if you get some food so just be aware of that. The staff here are so nice and very helpful, ask them anything and they got you! The menu has a wide variety so it was quite hard for me to decide what to order. I decided to play it safe and went with the Carne Asada burrito and I got the hottest salsa they had. Waited about 5 min for the burrito and paid for the burrito at the checkout at the front of the market. THE BURRITO WAS HUGE. Easily weighted about 5lbs. Just purely massive and for the portion, price, and quality it's a bargain! This is true aunthentic Mexican food and its sooooooooo gooooood!!!! The asada burrito was a 10/10 and I can't wait to come back and try more things. Please don't hesitate to try this place out. You will not regret it.

Garden market is awesome for everything it has. A meat market, mini grocery store with all your basics you may need. You can absolutely run here to get milk, cheese, nopales, limes, avocados, and tortillas. They have it all in this small store. My FAVORITE part of garden market is the takeout restaurant in the back. You could order anything on this menu and it's fantastic. From their tamales (which you can order by the dozen) to the fish tacos and breakfast burritos its all some of the best i have had in Ventura county. Truly an authentic mexican kitchen. On my last order i got a sweet corn tamale which i ate later on that day and it was dense, sweet, and just perfect. I also ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo and their hot salsa on the side. The salsa is pretty spicy but i keep going back for more and more. Its a good kick. The chorizo is not fatty and has good flavor to it. Its my favorite breakfast burrito in town. Oh and they don't skimp on anything. Its HUGE As for the service , the ladies in the back who help me and they are very nice and the orders come up quickly. I usually place a phone order and its already ready at the counter by the time i arrive. It can get super busy here around lunch time and 5pm on weekdays and on Saturdays they're pretty much busy all day. But thats how you know this place is great. Couldn't ask for a better spot!

Best place in town to grab a burrito and know it will always be on point. The asada torta is bomb too.

You can tell there's real care behind what they do. Everything feels intentional, from the quality of the meat to the fact that they practice whole-animal butchery and source locally through Hobson Family Farms. Love supporting businesses that are actually rooted in the community instead of just slapping "local" on a label. Also obsessed that they make everything in-house... jerky, sausages, beef sticks, bone broth powder, seasonings, even beef tallow. They also carry artisan bread, fresh produce, and organic milk, so somehow I walked in for meat and left feeling like a pioneer woman lol. The space itself feels warm, welcoming, and very Ventura in the best way. Clean, rustic, community-oriented... the kind of place where you can tell the regulars genuinely love coming in. It has that old-school neighborhood butcher shop energy but without feeling intimidating or pretentious. The staff was super welcoming and patient answering questions without making anyone feel intimidated. Whether you know your cuts of meat or you're just there because someone told you "trust me," they make the experience approachable. Honestly feels like one of Ventura's hidden gems. Made my husband very happy. He literally made flank steak the second we got home and was completely content. Now he's suddenly talking about buying a smoker!

I've had the chance to try their BBQ at local events around Ventura County, and it always left an impression. They make some darn good BBQ. BUT for this visit we ended up highlighting something just as exciting...their vegetarian options! It definitely says a lot when a barbecue place has great non meat options. I came with my friend Raquel (yelp elite) for lunch and we went all in on their vegetarian plates...well with one exception, we ordered the deviled eggs too. Let's start there: Their famous Candied Bacon Deviled Eggs are a must. Creamy, flavorful filling, lightly battered egg, topped with crispy bacon...yeah, they're as good as they sound. 10/10. Now for the vegetarian standouts: The Fried Avocado Bites were simple but done so right. Perfectly fried and paired with house made sauces that really brought everything together. Super shareable and perfect as a starter. 10/10. The Cauliflower Tacos were a reminder that you absolutely do NOT need meat for a great taco. These were hearty and loaded with (again) incredible sauces. My friend was obsessed and I get why. They were good, but I would prefer a meat protein taco at a spot like this. 7/10 for me. Beyond the food, the experience really shines here. The space has this perfect mix of country charm and rock n roll edge which is such a fun vibe. Service was top notch, and we love when owners are present and genuinely care. They stopped by to check in, which always makes a place feel extra special. And shoutout to our server Bentley, an absolute sweetheart. Next time you're in Santa Paula, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Gunsmoke is located in Downtown Santa Paula. I didn't pay close attention but I don't believe they have private parking. If you don't know SP, there is street parking and some parking lots. I would be mindful when you are planning to come for parking. I came with a friend midday so there was plenty of parking and seats as well so we got seated right away. I was happy to see the non meat options they have available. I was a bit bummed out they didn't have their hummus but it's just another excuse for me to go back. I did end up getting their cauliflower tacos. My friend got their avocado fries and their devil eggs. I had never had devil eggs, and tried those and were so good. I wanted more but I had already had all my tacos. I did appreciate the owner coming to greet us and finding out I was pescatarian. He was nice, mentioned that even though they are a BBQ spot, they still want to value those customers that don't eat, and asked if there's anything I think of to let him know to see if they can add it to the menu. Really appreciated that. Overall, bummed out I wasn't able to try their BBQ. The options I did try were all really good. I would come back.
