I am so sad I have been craving Twisted Meats because it was so delicious last time and I drove here from Oxnard and I couldn't be more disappointed. The beef and lamb meat was not on the rotisserie and that should have been the first clue. The meat was so dry and not fresh. The portion was much smaller than the last time I was here and I understand times are tough for restaurants but if you're gonna charge the prices then it's disappointing. It was $32 for the doner box with fries and a side of hummus and pita. The hummus was dry and not smooth and creamy like the last time and the pita was so hot by the time they cooled off they were too hard to eat. They charge .49 to have the fries on the side and I wish they would have at least mentioned that. The gal who was working was sweeping the floor which I appreciate a clean restaurant but she didn't wash her hands before working the register and serving me my meal. I tried the beef & lamb sandwich with feta topping, as suggested from one of the reviews I read. I loved the lightly toasted bread with sesame seeds! It has a crunch texture that i like. The meats are a bit salty, but I think it was salty because he was scraping off the bottom of pan, which means I got the last of what was left on bottom, drenched in salt maybe. I asked my daughter about it, and she said it's usually not salty like that. The veggies seemed fresh though. The service was quick and easy. Great place for lunch or dinner. This place is great! It is the closest thing to the doner wraps we had in Germany. I love the fact there is a restaurant where my meat loving friends can order two different types of meat and I can order my vegan meal. The rice is so flavorful and the veggies are very fresh. The portions are large. The staff is friendly, attention and informative. They have both high tables and booths. It is cozy inside but they also have a great outside patio. I stopped by after doing a quick search in the area for a top lunch spot. They were right off the 101 freeway going north, inside a plaza. There was a good size parking lot, but at lunch time it filled up. Inside is nice and clean, very modern cafe/bistro vibes. You order at the counter and the lady brought me my food when it was ready. There is inside seating but not a lot and there is no real place to wait for a to-go order inside. The menu is large and clear and plenty of offerings but it's not overwhelming. The cashier was super friendly and very helpful. It took about 8-12 minutes to get my food. Donor Sanwhich w/ Lamb and Beef - 4 Star - the bread was unique, almostlike a small loaf that was hallowed out so you just have a crisp shell. It was a great vehicle for the mounds of meat and veggie. I opted for no tomatoes and went with the spicy sauce. I definitely would get at least 1 more sauce to balance the meat out. Fries - 5 Star - I addded the fries and drink to make it combo. The size was kind of on the small side for a $7 bump but they were really good. Slightly battered and preseasoned with a great crunch. The garlic sauce is like a garlicky ranch and was also really good on the sandwich. My total was $29 and I definitely could have split with my wife, but it was my birthday so powered through and ate it all. read more

Then we came back. Took 40 minutes to get cold, food. Rice was so hard that it looked like raw yellow lentils. Leftover meat and questionable freshness. When we told the server with red hair, she said it was hot and challenged us by saying it was. Nope. It was cold. Secondly none of the meat was cut from the Doner. Really? 100 bucks for 4 dishes and a beer. Nope. Up charges for every thing. Speaking of beer, it was 1/2" from the top. Seriously? Oh. Don't cut the Döner when it's still raw (see pictures). It's gross. And the pan on top of the machine is all the chopped up meat from the spindle of gristle that you cut. Go anywhere else. This was disappointing. And Ruben, sorry. We been to Twisted Meats 4 times now, and each time is just as good as the last. My Go-To is the Chicken Wrap w/Chef Special Sauce. The spicy sauce is "Spicy", so beware. I have to be able to finish the wrap in one sitting. It is packed full of meat and veggies, so will be very full. I highly recommend the Chef Fries w/Feta cheese, so delicious! My son and daughter-In-Law have gotten the sandwich; this thing is "HUGE" and will definitely fill an empty stomach. My wife has gotten the bowl a few times, and she absolutely loves it. It is almost big enough for two meals. You will for-sure fill your belly with great quality food and friendly service. The staff is amazing. I want to start with the good. Went in today to pick up food to go. We got 2 Doner Boxes. The employee was very kind and our order was made quickly. The restaurant looked clean as well. This was only the second time we've ever gotten food here. The food tasted great and I had no issues with mine. The bad. There was a large sharp piece of plastic in my wife's food. That's ridiculous. An adult can't choke on it, but I've had bones from food cut the inside of my esophagus before, not a good time. The quality control in this instance is horrible. Anyone with small children (we have a son) realizes the danger this poses to them. At the very least, I don't recommend you get food for your kids from here and we won't be coming back. read more

I was clueless, but Lars immediately suggested the Sandwich. So that was a no-brainer! You start by choosing one of 4 styles (Sandwich, Wrap, Salad, and a couple Boxes). Then add a protein (Chicken, Falafel, or my choice: Beef and Lamb). Toss in veggies (I opted for the Original Style, which is everything). Then add some sauce. Several to choose from. There was a healthy amount of meat! And the veggies were all firm and fresh. Wonderfully crispy crust on the bread, softer inside, in a shell-style like pita bread. Excellent value. The flavors combined beautifully - nothing overpowered. I saw a side of zucchini fries! Yes, please! They also have regular and sweet potato. They offer 4 types of draught beer as well as a few wines. Pepsi products are at the fountain, though they also have a mini-fridge with bottle of Mexican Coke and some other goodies. Parking is easy in the shopping center lot. And there's a nice outdoor patio with a half dozen tables, though I sat indoors for this one. I also met Ruben, the owner, who gifted me with some delicious Feta Fries that apparently were mis-ordered and going to be tossed. And Lars brought some delicious black tea for me to try. I tried both chicken and lamb and honestly couldn't decide which was better. The sauces were also delicious, and they offer Spatzi, German beer, and Stubborn soda. I ordered a döner kebab sandwich with beef and lamb, a chicken wrap, a beef and lamb plate over rice, french fries with feta cheese, and baklava--and every single item was outstanding. The meats were perfectly seasoned and shaved thin, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, and everything tasted incredibly authentic. The döner kebab sandwich in particular was one of the best I've ever had. You can really tell the owners take pride in their food and heritage. They are German and bake their own bread for the sandwiches, which gives everything that authentic European döner flavor that's hard to find. A special thank you to Simon, one of the owners, who was extremely professional, kind, and welcoming.
