Great place for lottery tickets and magazines. Also a good selection of candies. The employees here are nice and helpful.

On an annual trip to NYC, I decided I would visit bookstores and take in all I could. B&B was right…read moreby my hotel, and I was delighted to find a comfortable room full of baseball memorabilia and a great variety. They specialize in 19th and 20th century English and American literature, which means you're going to see a lot of titles you're familiar with. I stopped in late in their day, so I wasn't surprised to be the only one there, but the team gave me space, answered very basic questions I had, and - gasp - LET ME TOUCH THE BOOKS. This is far from a stuffy environment, and when I finally convince my partner that I need that very expensive piece that has F. Scott Fitzgerald's music for Princeton, I know exactly where I'll go.

5 minutes before B&B books was closing, I buzzed the room located on the third floor to see if they…read morewould let me in "just to look." Well, 45 minutes later, I was still oohing and awing at the marvelous selection of first edition books they have to offer. This is the largest selection (aside from corporate-owned Bauman's) of rare books I've seen that include the dust jacket- a collectors actual dream. It's the biggest breath of fresh air to find a rare book store owned by a woman, and to be treated like a human being. I normally get side-eyed from rare bookstore owners and some of the conversations I've had sound like: "May I see the Portrait of a Lady in the case?" "All of these books are at least $100.00 and up." ".....I know." "Do you have any Wilde?" "The book about the woman hiking alone? That's too new to be in our shop, Barnes & Noble would have it." "I'm talking about the 1800s poet." "Oh." I take it personally because while I look like a millennial who doesn't know what she's talking about, I treasure my rare books like they're my children. Sunday stayed AN EXTRA HOUR at her store while I looked and answered all of my questions that I had, never making me feel rushed or unwelcome. After selecting a first edition Fitzgerald, she wrapped it in bubble wrap for my travels back home and gave me an updated book with all of the rare book sellers in the country.

I have been a loyal customer for years. I am one of the nicest people. I am ultra polite greeting…read morethe workers asking how they are etc, please and thank you. My fiancee buys me scratch off and so do I. Every year I purchase over 100 dollars worth to give to my doorman. Anyway today I go to cash in 6 dollars wort of winnings and the guy spazzes out on me screaming and yelling how I never buy th e scratch off their only cash them in. I figure he must be confused and I explain we spend plenty of money here. He continues to tell me he knows me and I am always trouble. I say have a nice day. They have lost not one but two loyal customers.

At first I thought it may not be the store's fault that a woman conned me into purchasing 3x what I…read morethought I was buying. She asked if I would buy her a bottle of soda because she could not pay for it. I thought I was helping someone out--and now I know that was naive--but at the time I thought if she's couldn't buy herself the soda, what's the harm in helping for a few bucks. But when I went back to ask why there was a $12 charge on my credit card for one bottle of soda plus the one candy bar she had then added, the store owner said he knew I was scammed. The cashier refused to show me the receipt. Meanwhile, the owner, without looking at the charges claimed he saw the whole thing and the woman had secretly taken 4 candy bars at $2 each. I looked at the cashier who said yes, this is what happened. The owner claimed the same woman has been pulling this for 15 years. Then he said I was stupid to fall for it. Well, if she's been doing it for 15 years and the owner was so angry as he claimed about it, why did the cashier not DO anything about it? The owner could have instructed him that next time, simply say the amount ALOUD so that the dupe (me) would know I was purchasing more than was on the counter? Or could have been instructed to say to me, that's (one bottle of soda and four candy bars) or whatever I was purchasing, especially if it wasn't on the counter? If they all knew it was a scam, why were they HELPING her get away with it? And then, the owner chides me for being stupid and helping someone who didn't need help.
