First time stopping by this neighborhood florist shop. Overall quick and respectful service. The shop definitely seems more of a stop for large, ornate flower arrangements rather than a small bouquet. They offer small gifts, floral arrangements, statues, religious statues & relics. Upon walking in and explaining that I was looking for a small, simple bouquet of flowers to place on an altar at home for my recently-deceased mother, I was quickly offered a "$75 bouquet." After promptly responding "no" I was then offered a "$40 bouquet." I took it but upon receiving it, I'm not so sure the price tag is justified (however that may just be me, see attached pictures). The flowers are all fresh and seemingly of nice, overall quality. There is no signage for prices, prices for items seems to be subjective to whatever feels appropriate by the owners/shopkeepers. I absolutely hate writing negative reviews but when businesses do not reciprocate what you pay for, then I cannot feel bad. Almost every time I disregarded bad review, I was sorry so I'm trying to do the same for my fellow Yelpers. So I grew up in Whitestone and my parents still reside there. I have been unsuccessful with other florists in the area when ordering flowers to be delivered to my mother. My mom just celebrated a year cancer free so I wanted to surprise her and recognize her. I browsed the selection on the website of flowers and plants, which were an amazing variety. I wanted to order a plant that was good luck to health. I decided to go with a bamboo plant since my mom likes them. I ordered on a Friday, to be delivered the following Wednesday (5 days later). There was some fee that was waived but still had to pay $10 for shipping-for under 2 miles. Fine, whatever, I'm over 1,000 miles away and cannot do it myself. I placed the order and it was charged to my card immediately and I received a confirmation email. Wednesday arrives. 2pm-nothing. 6pm-nothing. I left work at 9pm and never heard anything from my mother so I asked her if she received any deliveries-thinking maybe she missed it or something. She told me no. I went from 0 to 100 immediately. This occasion was very, very important. It was not a holiday where they would be busy. I never received a call or email about any issues. It was paid for. I tried calling but of course they were closed. I emailed but no response. Fast forward to the following afternoon. I receive a voicemail from Elizabeth to call back regarding my order. So Elizabeth was kind of nice and that was the only positive aspect. I was told "I received the order this morning (now 6 days after I placed the order). We do not have any bamboo plants in stock (it was listed in stock on website). Would you like me to send another plant". I am a very understanding and polite person but when a business goes above and beyond to screw something up that I paid for, I am not going to be pleasant. I think next time, I am just going to pay one of my friends to physically buy flowers and deliver them to my mom for me. There are no pictures because nothing was delivered. I did receive a refund notification via email and the actual refund went back to my card about 4 days later. read more

I needed a florist who would deliver on short notice, on a Sunday, and indeed they delivered! Elizabeth, their florist was so cordial and efficient. She helped me pick a fantastic bouquet. I asked for it to be in a tea pot, and that was indeed the most beautiful creation ever. Elizabeth was so fantastic that I had to ask her if she was the owner. Even though she wasn't, she had pride and compassion at a time that I needed a beautiful and speedy delivery of a creative bouquet. HORRIBLE!!! ANIMAL CRUELTY- ANIMAL ABUSERS!!! I never beeen here before but my husband and I stopped by to pick up a plant while driving to a family members home for dinner. Every plant that looked decent was extremeley overpriced. Anyway, that was not what upset us. What upset us was the multitude of parakeets that they have crammed in tiny filthy cages! I am actually glad I did not read the Yelp! reviews before ordering, because I might have been scared away. I only have only interacted with A&S one time, so I am writing my review on that account. We needed funeral arrangement flowers for a wake of a family member. The wake was on a Monday and we called on Sunday. We ordered on the phone based on a picture we saw on the website. The prices were reasonable (considering how expensive funeral flowers are!!!). They charged $10 for delivery, but said it would be delivered to the funeral home and set up on the stand. They asked what we wanted on the ribbon and the card, and the lady on the phone was very pleasant. We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the arrangement was. The whole experience was one decent thing during a very sad time. I will definitely try them out again! read more

Those stems are bad. They really stink. Only one day , the flowers have withered away also those too expensive not worth it.

One word: crooks!! Stay away!! They tried to over charge me and got upset when I questioned the total.. i was not rude, not loud, all I wanted was to clarify the total. At the end They were wrong and I didn't even get an apology, they just gave me a shit load of attitude like I was in the wrong for not letting them rip me off.. (yes, I noticed how you threw my correct change on the table) FYI 50% off of $8.99 is not $4.99 And don't tell me it's because of the tax when on the receipt you are clearly charging me an "additional tax" after the total. I recently used this florist for a funeral flower arrangement. I was unable to go to the funeral because of Covid exposure and I was in quarantine. (it was a wake for my best friend's father) She called me the day after the funeral to thank me for the beautiful flowers. I didn't see it myself, but she described it as the one piece that stood out. (I've tried twice to upload the photo here but have been unsuccessful and getting an error message) The price was average and although I was annoyed that they charged me $10 for delivery, it was worth the fee in the end. I'm glad they did the right thing and I'm relieved my friend loved the flowers when I couldn't be there myself. Would definitely use this florist again. read more

I was in a rush to get flowers for a baptism and went to the closest one near to my church. I got inside and was greeted very nicely by a lady at the front desk to whom I politely asked for assistance with getting some baptism flowers. She suggested white & pink flowers for the occasion which was exactly the colors I wanted-- good start. Then I mentioned that I wanted a bouquet with a price range of $20-25 to which she condescendingly replied, "Oh that won't get you much at all." And don't get me wrong, I was fine with that because I've been to many florist shops and with a price like that, you can still get a decent bouquet. So the lady told her worker to make us a $25 bouquet. And let me tell you, they did not have many selections to begin with (although they had many ornaments, decorations, misc inside the store) So the flowers that I were eyeing were the pink roses and I told her I wanted those. As the worker was trying to get the roses, the lady at the front quickly yelled, "Oh no, you can't get those because they're expensive. And you only want $25 worth flowers." I told her I understood but to add those instead of the carnations that they were trying to give me. But she was like "No you can only add 1 or 2 of that" Like wth!? Listen I've been to many florist shops and you can get at least 4-5 roses (with misc flowers) with a price of $20. I mean if this place is a little overpriced I get it but the way she was condescending in delivering that message was not okay. My family and I have been coming here for over fifteen years especially when we were making sauce every year- we would purchase large quantities of tomatoes. We have spent an insane amount of money here over the years. We went to them bc they always took care of us. That changed and they have lost a very good customer as well as my family members. I preordered tomatoes middle of July bc I was leaving vacation. I originally preordered for second week of September but because Ann told me they wouldn't have tomatoes in Sept, I preordered for the week before. I even gave a deposit. Fast forward to while I was on vacation I called to confirm and they guaranteed me the date was fine. Yesterday Ann called me not once ...but three times to confirm how many I had ordered. I informed her that I had ordered 18 cases of tomatoes. On the second call she informed me that her customers were fighting with her because there were no more cases left. How this is my issue? i have no idea i asked her which in turn she had an attitude and told me she would see me tomorrow at pickup. Last call was at 5:30pm- she called me to tell me that only 10 cases would be there tomorrow. Why I asked? I ordered for 18, what is the issue. She became irate and blamed her farmer she uses because he wasn't delivering anymore tomatoes to her and she had to cancel thirty outstanding orders. Again, how the hell is this my issue. I specifically called you in July to pre order, then confirmed while away on vacation. I even confirmed when she called me the three times to confirm how many. They should be MORE ORGANIZED! Put aside who ordered what and how many. This is beyond absurd especially because anyone that makes tomatoes knows end of Aug is very hard to find- HENCE WHY I PREORDERED! They are in business how many years? How do you not know if you are going to run out ? Very unethical way to run a business. If you've had a positive experience here then you may be one of the luckiest people on Earth and I recommend going to play the lotto because the experience my family and I had here was a complete disgrace. The bouquet was wrong, despite her confirming it multiple times before the wedding. Instead of fixing the problem, the A&S representative yelled at one of the bridesmaids, demanded a credit card for the replacement and then the company failed to deliver the new bouquet before the ceremony. Getting an order wrong isn't the end of the world, mistakes happen. Having the order confirmed multiple times then screwing up the order literally 2 1/2 hours prior to the ceremony of the wedding is unacceptable. Like I said, mistakes happen, as a former business manager you need to fix those problems. Especially if it's your own company's mistake and instead A&S decided to handle it in an inappropriate and rude manner. On my sister's day. They also refused to work with us on a refund of any kind and instead once again yelled at my sister. We could not have been happier with the flowers, the help they gave us the "on time" delivery, the quality of our beautiful orchids and the price was right on point with our budget (actually, we were thrilled with the cost!) Our next event at Msgr. Scanlan High School in the Bronx is our Hall of Fame event in May. We didn't even ask anyone else to work with us, A&S is our place!!! read more

I've been here a handful of times the past few years, and the last time a few weeks back was the absolute last straw. Every time I've come in asking questions, you know, like a normal person who may not know a thing about flowers, the same lady behind the counter looks at me like I'm an idiot and addresses me as such. This time I was purchasing 2 roses that I was going to use to brew beer. I honestly didn't know where else to buy flowers in the area besides this shop. Next time, I'm definitely going to try my best to find a different spot and avoid the rude and judgmental service here I asked for the roses, she said it'd cost $10. I handed her my credit card and she gives me a dirty look and says very rudely, "$10..on that?! We have a $20 minimum here." Like alright lady, I see the credit card sign on your door and there is no sign in your store that says there's a damn minimum, let alone a $20 at a flower shop. I apologize and give her cash, she then rings me up and charges tax on top of the original $10 she asked for, so it ends up being $10.89. At this point I just wanted to get the heck out of there before I exploded. All she had to do was mention it nicely and not treat me like an ingrate for trying to pay with my credit card. Totally uncalled for with the rudeness. Do yourself a favor and find your flowers elsewhere. Better yet, be green and pick some out of your neighbor's garden and don't tell them! Bought a Fraiser Christmas tree from A&S this Dec 2nd, rest assured I will never do that again. The tree wasn fresh and began shedding within a week. It also didn't have that fresh signature scent. $70 down the drain. With less than a week till Christmas I doubt this tree will make it. I am very disappointed. read more

3.5 stars. This is the closest fully functional floral shop in my 'hood that I know of. It serves it's purpose for most things, but I find it to be rather over-priced. For instance, I run to this shop when I'm in a pinch and need bouquets or last minute stems to make my own at-home arrangements (for guests, etc), and the price per stem seems VERY high. Today I paid $3/stem + tax for a la carte gerbera daisies. I would understand this price, perhaps if they were being arranged...but opening the refrigerator door and picking them out myself, I find it to be too pricey. On the other hand, the bouquets are usually lovely. Depending on who does the arrangement, you could make off like a bandit. I've gone in and told them "$25" and walked out with something that probably should have been more like $35-45. Other times I've felt skimped. The one consistent thing here is service. READ: Lack of. Never very friendly. You can stand in the store or at the counter for minutes without being acknowledged. Do not like. read more

The customer service was horrible and you should get everything in writing with them since they're all not on the same page in terms of rentals/reimbursements for placing orders for parties. I might be biased with this review as for as long as I've lived in my neighborhood (aka 25 years), this florist has always been there. I've only recently started ordering from here. Discovered it's mutually beneficial when ordering from a local business vs. a 1800 flowers - prices are def. cheaper. Plus when a florist can walk to your house to deliver flowers you know they can't cheat you. Arrangements are a little pricey than say places in Flushing but they're always tastefully done. I've always trusted their judgment on the aesthetics. Other than arrangements, they also have a nursery with a surprising number of fauna varietals. (haha i just wanted to say that) read more

Bought 10 cases of tomatoes for canning on the advice of Sale (the owner). It was 4 cases too much. I try to return the other 4 cases,, Sal accuses me of taking tomatoes out of each case. These cases were unopened. Then just walks away. This guy is a rude, entitled POS. The majority of the reviews are right on here. Stay away from this place. Happened to swing by here because we had to find something nearby while in the immediate area. I always have high-hopes for 'nurseries' because they really truly are supposed to be the experts in all things flowers and plants. I did a quick overview of the Yelp reviews and popped in for some flowers. Quality/Freshness I noticed many plants out in the front, weren't in their peak. Some browned and wilted leaves on plants. Inside, their flowers were generally OK but definitely some less-than-ideal. There was an overall feel of disorganization and the flower fridge wasn't all that appealing. I love beautiful flowers but just the overall presentation turned me off. And there are no prices listed for flower stems - that makes it a bit tricky when pricing a bouquet. Staff/Service The owner was OK. Asked me once in passing if I needed something then proceeded to sit behind the counter, busying herself on her cellphone. There was a younger woman in her 30s, perhaps the daughter. She was just sort of - meh. Sort of half-assed attitude, and just matter-of-fact enough for you to be offended. She was busy taking photos of arrangements on her iPad and didn't rush to serve us. She was however, very quick to walk to the register to take my money when it was time to ring me up. A middle-aged hispanic hire was the one who helped me with my selections. The only one really doing any real work - she was helpful and nice. I made my own selection of flowers for a bouquet because I had to work around the fact that many things didn't look so great. (I literally mixed and matched different flowers pretty much solely based on whatever was not yellowing, browning and/or withering.) Roses - definitely not. Pre-arranged bouquets - pricey. Pricing Generally seems a bit higher - or atleast - higher than what I would have liked for the product and experience I was getting. So. Nothing was terrible. But nothing wonderful either. And given the other options available in the Whitestone/Bayside area - I won't be returning. read more

I had called a week before my sister's baby shower and ordered 3 dz sunflowers. When I went to pick them up the morning of the shower at 10am, the time I was promised they would be ready for pick up, they weren't ready to be picked up. To make matters worse, they only had 26 flowers for me!!! Without apologizing or offer a compensation, they starting picking old, already cut too short sunflowers out of pre-made arrangements. I ended up with 32 sunflowers of various size and morality. I will NEVER step foot in this place again and that's a shame because I live a few houses down the road on Franny Lou. read more

I ordered my wedding flowers from this place and overall, I am very pleased with their product. When I first met the manager, she was very eager to help me. I ordered 14 centerpieces, 2 large ceremony display flowers, 5 bouquets, and about 20 boutonnieres, so I was a pretty big customer. We talked about the flowers I wanted and she was very helpful in showing me what the end product would look like. However, when we talked about pricing and I had asked for a discount because I was referred by another vendor, she looked visibly unhappy with lowering the price. For a moment, I thought she was even angry at me! However, in the end, we sat down to do a breakdown of the items by price and I was able to order the flowers I had wanted that was within my budget. The flowers that I received were BEAUTIFUL! They were very vibrant in color and were in full bloom. There was also no fuss with the delivery. However, I did have a few very minor complaints that can be ignored, but I'm posting it anyway so others know what to ask for: 1. I received a very yellow calla lilies when I had requested pale yellow. I had asked the receptionist to make the change, when I should have told the manager, whom I was working with. 2. The flowers lasted about 3-4 days before wilting. My bridal bouquet started to rot within a week. I tried to preserve it by hanging it upside down, but the calla lilies started reeking (it literally smelled like garbage) and some of them fell off the bouquet while I hung it up. I did notice that some calla lilies lasted longer than others and the ones that lasted longer are more towards the center. This was the same for my bridesmaids bouquet. I suspected I got cheaper quality calla lilies more towards the exterior. In pictures and on the day of, they all looked the great though. 3. I ordered and paid for 12 standing columns but ended up getting 8. I paid $10 each for these. However, I received 3 corsages when I ordered none. 4. She promised me floral arrangements placed at the center of our table for free, but it was never delivered. TIPS: 1. Do NOT order an aisle runner from them. They charge 50 when you can order them for 20 or less via amazon. 2. Do NOT ask them to decorate your arch with tulle. They were trying to charge $100, but the materials costs less than 15. I recommend A&S because the flowers were very beautiful and in the end, I was able to work with them within my budget. Fabulous flowers! read more

I ordered a small arrangement from here for my husband's grandmother's funeral, on behalf of my family. The woman who answered the phone was extremely helpful. I was unsure of how all of this worked, if they accepted the arrangement for the wake, or just for the funeral, and also what type of arrangement to have. The woman actually called the funeral home for me to find out when they were accepting flowers. I gave her a price range, and with the taxes and fees she got me just $0.75 over my budget. And she left the arrangement up to the designer. I called on Sunday, and the wake was on Monday, the flowers were there when we arrived. The arrangement was perfect and just lovely. They teamed up to make the most amazing looking cake you've ever seen. I wish I could post a picture to this review, because I'm sure anyone reading this doesn't understand just how beautiful it was. My bouquet was so beautiful too. I wish I still had it, but the venue, Terrace on the Park in Flushing threw it out after telling me to pick everything up the following day. (Their review won't be anything like this one.) I'm so disappointed to not have that beautiful bouquet. They also designed the alter for my ceremony. I sent some photos of what I liked to the owner, Ann for inspiration and she designed something so beautiful out of twigs. I was so happy with all of the decor. They Really put heart into there work which is why i will never buy from a franchise business and always stick with a mom and pop shop.. I really wish I had read yelps reviews prior to ordering my daughter's First Communion flowers and party favors from A&S..My daughter's special day was May 12th, 2018....the party favor tags said May 5th. My daughter's flowers and balloons were suppose to arrive at noon since our cocktail hour started at 3pm....3:23pm still no flowers or balloons. By that time I was having a melt-down...and I'm a pretty patient and understanding person... If it wasn't for the amazing management at Union Prime steakhouse I don't know what we would have done. Management closed the reception doors, and we extended the time for the cocktail hour to hide the fact the reception room literally looked bare. After screaming at the owner at A&S on several calls, she had the nerve to say they had so many first communions, they just ran out of time! Ran out of time? After I called them the day prior and was ensured there will be zero issues on delivery, and that I can just sit back and relax. The only speed they had was charging my credit card over $1200. When providing service and products for such special occasions, I hope this place closes down based on all the horrible reviews. No one deserves this. I used A&S Florist for my daughter's bridal shower last week. It has taken me that long to settle down and get to writing the review this place deserves. First I will say, we went here on a friends recommendation for shower invitations. I didn't know how much else this place was capable of, It's extremely deceiving from the outside. On the day I went to pick the invitations, they were getting ready for a bridal flower show so I got to see first hand what goes on behind the scenes. The many samples and colors of flowers was breathtaking (basically I got the show without the show). On that day, not only did I order invitations, but was also able to pick the flowers, matching chair covers and table linens. The owner Ann and her assistant Elizabeth were very helpful and gave good ideas and suggestions. The prices were reasonable, especially for the personalized attention they also provided. I'm from Cali, so this was a very different shopping experience for me. Cappuccino while you shop was an unexpected side perk (yes, it was worthy of mention here) Fast Forward to my event, what can I say.. I could not believe how exquisite everything turned out. To say they exceeded my expectations is a gross understatement. The room looked magnificent, completely transformed- My daughter was speechless when she entered the room. Of course, she noticed every single detail and was beaming all day. Guests are still calling me weeks later, raving about what a perfect day and elegant party from start to finish.
