The doctors are great and the staff is so caring. They did consultations for myself and all four of my children. I appreciate their genuine honesty and how great they treated and made my children feel. I've tried several different dentist offices but never felt comfortable or inviting. 1 Star -- Unethical Conduct, Improper Care, and Pending Legal Escalation I am posting this review regarding the egregious treatment my mother-in-law received at Gardena Modern Dentistry & Orthodontics. What began as a minor, localized complaint (mild gum sensitivity strictly while flossing) turned into a continuous cycle of recommended procedures, resulting in over $8,000 in out-of-pocket expenses for work that left her in severe, ongoing pain. She has since been evaluated by multiple independent, licensed dentists who explicitly confirmed that the treatment performed at this clinic was executed improperly and was completely incorrect. When we attempted to resolve this directly with the office, management completely stonewalled us. Promises of callbacks are ignored, calls go unreturned, and staff refuse to take responsibility for failed clinical care. To make matters worse, the front desk receptionist, Rosa, dismissed a patient in active distress by claiming she was "not healing because of her bad energy and bad vibes." Attributing a patient's medical non-recovery to "bad vibes" rather than taking accountability for clinical outcomes is grossly unprofessional. Because this practice refuses to communicate, acknowledge second-opinion findings, or rectify the situation, we have retained legal counsel and are formally initiating a legal claim and reporting this matter to regulatory authorities. Absolutely horrible experience. My appointment was at 1:00 PM and I arrived early at 12:50 PM, yet I wasn't even called back for X-rays until 1:55 PM. Completely unacceptable and a total waste of time. The staff in the back were extremely unprofessional--giggling, talking about unrelated things, and clearly not taking their jobs seriously. It felt more like a hangout than a medical office. The front may look nice and "aesthetic," but don't be fooled. The back area is dirty, dusty, and honestly looks unhygienic. It made me very uncomfortable. This was my first visit and definitely my last. I ended up walking out because the doctor was taking forever on top of everything else. This office was seriously traumatizing. I've seen several dentists my whole life (because I've moved several times) and I've always been told that I had good dental hygiene and have done a great job with daily care. I had just moved to the area and was going to a different dentist office when I decided I wanted a more personal touch, so I switched to this office to give it a try for a regular cleaning. It was a mistake. I went to this office SEVERAL times. At least 3 times, each time with over an hour wait, and the first few times I had to leave because I couldn't wait for that long and had to get back to my newborn baby. On top of that, they tried to sell me all kinds of treatments that I highly suspected I didn't need (nightguard, laser treatment, going in every 3 months??). It totaled to over $1,000 out of pocket, and I have GREAT insurance. I was shocked, but their fear tactics somewhat worked. I gave in and decided to just pay extra for a deep clean, even though I've never needed one in my life. I figured I'd be safe, since I hadn't gone to the dentist in a year due to being pregnant. My husbands' deep cleans with his dentist (a different office) usually take 45+ minutes. My hygienist took 14 minutes (I clocked it) and sent me on my merry way. I've had regular cleanings that have taken longer than that. On top of that, as I was waiting to be seen, I could hear the patient next to me getting the SAME EXACT SPIEL that was given to me about all the treatments they recommended. Like a script. I was horrified. I went to a new dentist today, a year after my experience at Gardena Modern Dentistry, and she was amazing. She did a thorough exam, told me that my teeth looked great due to my daily flossing, and all I'd need today was a regular cleaning. She did my exam and cleaning in one day and walked me through every step and was extremely professional. A sharp contrast to Gardena Modern Dentistry, who had told me that if I skipped out on the treatments that I decided to, my teeth would ultimately get a lot worse and would lead to severe decay and tooth loss in the next few years. WHAT? I don't even have gingivitis or cavities. I have sat with this terrible experience for a long time and decided to wait until I saw a new dentist to see whether or not my teeth were truly in trouble or if Gardena Modern Dentistry was just trying to squeeze extra cash out of me. Today confirmed that it was the latter. I rarely write scathing reviews, but my experience with them was so awful, I had to come back and warn people. read more

Worst dentist in the area. AVOID GOING HERE. They are no longer the old Yampolsky Dental pre COVID team that was amazing. They fired everyone and it has been in decline since then. They also keep chasing their name. It used to be call something else and would constantly harass you with texts. See photo. When you call to make an appointment they sent you to a call center and the disconnect between the team on-site and the call center is crystal clear. They make appointments without even checking your record to see if you're appointment and dental insurance are aligned. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Really bad experience here. The front desk staff were rude and dismissive from the start -- eye rolling and acting like I was a bother just for asking questions. I also had to wait two hours past my appointment time with no clear communication. On top of that, the doctor didn't properly write the prescription amount, which caused CVS to spend hours trying to contact the office for approval. Had been coming here since elementary but in recent years they've just been getting worse and worse. They'll book you an appointment, you go to the appointment and then tell you that they can't attend you because they're too busy with someone else and to come back the next day as if you have time to be going back and forth whenever they want to make time for you. This place does not care about your dental apt!!! They only want money $ if u do not have funds i would not visit this place especially for children they leave then half done in pain . The Techs do not have license . They did a Half root canal forgot about it, let it get reinfected, then refused to give me pain meds for my pain with a half root canal done and and filling pushing up my nerves so it's even hard to eat I explained this 10 different ways they were reluctant to give me anything for my pain I guess cause imma black guy they think I don't feel pain or I'm lying. Don't come here, they try to scam you. They told me that I would have to pay $2500 to have a deep cleaning done. That medi-cal doesn't cover it so I asked if I can get a regular cleaning done at least and they said no it has to be a deep cleaning so I left, and called medi-cal and they said that they do cover the deep cleaning. So I called Gardena modern dentistry back and they switched it up and said "the deep cleaning is covered by medical but you will have to pay for the medicine and anesthesia and that's what the $2500 is paying for." So then I call another dentist and they said that medical does cover the deep cleaning and I don't have to come out of pocket at all we just have to get it authorized by medical." A big waste of time here, they'll scam you out of thousands if you let them. read more
