When I look at the reviews on this page, I would say these WERE accurate, however, they have new leadership and subsequently, the service has significantly declined. - Staff are leaving left and right. Outside of front desk staff, you'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of staff who have been there longer than 2 years. And honestly, the reason most of the residents haven't left is because it's just so hard of an adjustment moving elders. But many families and residents have shared their concerns in whispered conversations. - Leaks throughout the building but mostly on the second floor, which have resulted in mold and leaks to the first floor multipurpose room. - A whirlpool that is a selling point but has hardly, if ever worked. - Ignored emails or calls from concerned families. Or responses from leadership that are brash. - Someone else already mentioned in their review the front desk staff who don't acknowledge/speak to people -- that's guests and residents alike (why would onsite leadership be okay with that?). - All of this while prices have consistently been increasing. The final straw was Garden Plaza recently came under new ownership -- Life Care Centers of America. Name sounds familiar? Maybe because they were ground zero for elder deaths at the beginning of COVID. A five second Google search will tell you everything else you need to know. Here are the most notable legal actions against the company: 1. Medicare & TRICARE Fraud ($145 Million Settlement with Dept. of Justice where concerned employees were the initial whistleblowers) - Oct. 2016 2. Wage and Overtime Class Actions -- 2015-2020 3. Patient Abuse and Neglect Verdicts -- 2022 & 2024 4. Employment Discrimination -- 2024-2025 & active investigations in 2026 Garden Plaza is the Independent Living side and The Bridge at Garden Plaza is the Assisted Living side. Now most of these lawsuits are related to skilled nursing (aka assisted living or rehab), but the point still remains that this is who now OWNS Garden Plaza, coupled with lackluster onsite leadership.

We found the perfect place for her in Shalom Park! The nursing quality and other staff were so attentive and our mother actually enjoyed her stay! Trails right outside to walk, are abundant and also very nice as you walk thru the park right there/golf course. Different sized Rooms make up assisted living (AL) --studio, 1 BR, 2 BR. Memory care (MC) only has 2 sizes of studios--385 and 520 sq feet. The views you have contribute to the price as well. They also have Assisted Living with their Essentials support, provides a bridge between AL and MC. Food is pretty nice. Heritage week was being offered where unique foods from other areas around the world were being featured. Service was pretty great. Kind, compassionate when talking to residents. Beautiful set-up with dishes being offered on display as you walk in. Love the front desk team. All super nice and energetic. Very knowledgable and helpful. A nice sized theater for movies. Arts and crafts room. Library space. Outside deck/seats and tables with a very calming and beautiful view. Exercise class in the morning and other activities throughout the day. From the moment we walked into Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care (CHAL), we knew it was special. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the staff truly seemed to care about the residents. My aunt moved in about a year ago, and it was a huge adjustment - she had been living independently and had no plans to move. The team at CHAL went above and beyond to help her settle in and feel comfortable in her new home. They were patient, kind, and always took the time to make sure she was doing okay. Now, a year later, she's happy and thriving. She enjoys the staff and the beautiful facility. It's such a relief knowing she's well cared for and surrounded by people who genuinely care about her. We're so grateful to everyone at CHAL for making what started as a stressful transition into such a positive experience. I can't recommend them enough!

She was always sitting with her head hanging down in an unnatural position in the wheelchair. I walked in once and thought she was dead due to the position they left her sitting in. They were too lazy to walk with her, because at 97 she was slow and just pushed her around in the chair all the time. Her health declined so much the year she spent here. She stopped walking, her legs were always swollen because they didn't help her into the bed or recliner to elevate them. The food was terrible. The staff was mean and snappy with her. They wouldn't let her pick her own clothes out or any of the small things that would matter to an elderly person in nursing care. Since, she has left this place she has already improved. I was pleased to walk in on her sitting comfortably on a recliner with her legs much less swollen in her new facility. These people have no business working with the elderly.

The Pharmacy Phiasco is what I call this. Critical medications were allowed to run out when…read moreassumptions were made by the care staff. I have been threatened before by a caregiver refusing to reorder medication because she wanted me to do something she had no right to ask of me. That medication has now never been ordered for a month. The latest is much more serious. Medications were allowed to run out over several days that if not given could result in brain damage. I'm still waiting for medication...well I'm away from the facility and in hospital. Will they throw my mess and clothes away? We'll see, but I doubt they'd loose much sleep at night if they did. Finally, neurologist confirms harm done by Rick Creek to me and it is serious.
