Treasure House is seemingly two buildings that are connected at the hip. If you enter on the right side... it's not as noticeable... but once you go to the left side; you basically can't not notice it. The smell of mildew? smoke? mold? G-d knows what is filling that room. My friend immediately had trouble breathing and started coughing in this room. It didn't hit me until I went upstairs. It is SUCH a crying shame. Cause this antique store definitely has some hidden gems. And the prices seem somewhat reasonable form what I can tell about the right side. There is an excessive amount of antique fans that are in really great condition. I mean... if you're on the hunt for a brass blade fan, you should honestly buy a respirator and start exploring. Additionally, there are a large number of old radios, victrola style record players, and general furniture. The condition of the shop is rough though. Be careful where you walk. There's also lack of prices on a good deal of the merchandise which is a bit annoying. If I ever did come back here, I'd had to stick to the right side of the shop. And I really hope that the owner can get whatever that awful smell is under control and the air quality in general. I'd love to take some of those antiques off his hands.

The owner was very friendly and the prices were good. He even offered me a free clock case when I mentioned a free library project I was working on. I will definitely be going back. OK now for the caveat: When I sat chock a block I really mean it. This place is VERY cluttered and the aisles are narrow making navigation a challenge. Also it is extremely musty. Like walking into a cellar musty. So if you have breathing issues, I would suggest not going in. But if you can handle the musty smell and are looking for a bargain, it is worth a try.

While I love a good store chock-full of things, Sturgis is less crowded and instead has a seriously well-curated stock of pretty much all the things I would want from super cute floral-patterned dresses to Native American jewelry... and toonsss of art books! Beyond your typical Monet or Picasso books, you'll find some rare picks as well. Looking for "A Clinical Atlas of Venereal Skin Diseases"? They definitely have it. Books on occultism? You betcha. It is located in Bowie's historic district in a very old building with a wonderful front porch and screen door that when it slams shut behind you, it conjures up memories (at least for me) of the former occupants running inside a hundred or so years ago. It is a small family-owned business. Randy Trammel is a very talented furniture and cabinet maker and his wife Jeanne- along with her wonderful mother- travel to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio and other states to find wonderful treasures, which they sell along with contemporary furniture. They are only open on weekends, 12-5 PM. I highly recommend this store. They will make you feel like one of the family with their warmth and humor. I have bought both antiques and contemporary furniture from them over the years and I love everything that I've bought. And it seems that every time I drop in Jeanne has somehow brought in another treasure. They also sell antique American Indian baskets- when she finds them. This is a wonderful store that you will not be sorry you visited. And the prices are extremely good considering the fantastic quality that you are getting. I just bought a beautiful chest of drawers circa 1820. I love to open it and think that when it was first used, John Quincy Adams was president!

They even do sports stadiums, if you're into that.. These items would make a great present or be an excellent addition to your home, office or man cave or she shed. If you're a traveler, or there's a particular place you hold dear to your heart, this a good way to relive or honor those memories. I wanted a functional piece & had been searching for a wall clock, but I'm also on a budget. The smaller of the sized clocks (still a good size) was a more affordable option at $49 ($51 and some change with tax) , although the huge one would have been nice. With some deliberation, I returned the next day to purchase the UK clock. So far I'm very pleased with my purchase. I think they also do customized pieces if they don't have them. My friend purchased an encased wooden topographical map of Japan. general note: Three generators in historic downtown Annapolis blew causing power outages that day, but some stores had back up generators. I can't stress enough the importance of having cash on hand. Although, this wasn't an emergency purchase by any means, I was able to make the purchase because I had cash.

There was one staff member and shr handled the fairly large crowd of customers with aplomb. I wish I recalled her name but she was very informative, friendly, and helpful. There's a sign above the entranceway about recycling. My kinda thinking right here. I'm sure there were many neat things in this little store but I didn't stay long because I made a comment how the barking dogs in the back wanted to say hi. I was just being chatty but the guy took it as an opportunity to let out the two Italian Greyhounds. They are not small dogs and it made me nervous because I don't know how they run around without breaking all of the fragile things in the store. I'm not a big fan because it makes the place smell like doggies but the two other ladies there were in love and went to play and pet them. That was my opportunity to make a beeline for the door.

I proudly hang them as ceiling lights in my foyer and office. With a young child and new puppy, I don't always get to enjoy such beautiful decor, but I think they look great even in a foyer filled with dog leashes and children's toys. I had my eye on a few other beautiful things and will surely visit again soon.
