In the past, this Michaels seemed to have a staff shortage, and the checkout was a drag. I know the self-checkout isn't new here, but it has changed everything; it's fast and efficient, leaving the staff able to focus on helping the customers. In color and in style. During their Holiday Seasons they are fully stocked and all aisles are bursting with cheerful, happy colors, flowers, brands and more.. if you are not quick to grab what you need, it will be too late. Overall, not a bad experience, but they can for sure step up to the plate and help out their customers when we need help. There are lots of intricate things that are involved in getting coupons off of my phone and into the system and it is never something I can understand so every single time I have to wait for the one employee that is trying to help the six or seven self check out that people don't want in the first place and it's just becoming too much of a hassle. The staff are always friendly and helpful but they're just simply isn't enough of them. Every single time I go there I stand in line and I say that I want to wait for a human and I offer people behind me to go ahead of me to use the self check and none of them want to. They want the human interaction as well. I really think Michaels is taking a misstep with this direction especially if they are going to continue to have the coupons be so difficult to get off of your phone. I can get the paint cheaper to begin with off of Amazon but I enjoyed the human interaction. Every single time I have gone in recently I have to wait between 10 and 15 minutes to wait for the one employee that is overwhelmed with having to help every single person at every single self check. And this is 10 or 15 minutes waiting if you are at the front of the line. This has been more than one location as well. This is the same for The Studio City location and the one in Encino. When I saw the work, I was shocked by how sloppy, rushed, and low quality it looked. This was not professional work and not something any business should hand to a customer. I explained that I was unhappy with the quality and asked for my money back because I could not use this canvas for my client. Instead of trying to fix the problem, they refused and kept saying, "This is how we do it," and that they already spent time, labor, and materials on it. They acted like there was nothing wrong with the work at all. What made the experience even worse was the attitude and disrespect. Instead of helping or apologizing, I was told to leave the store. I also took photos of the canvas so people can judge the quality for themselves. I would not recommend this place if you expect professionalism, quality workmanship, or respectful customer service.

Their tenure is evident by the sheer volume of things they have, and to their credit, their stock is extremely varied and large. Quite easy to lose two hours here. But I found the service hot and cold: they'd sometimes follow me around, but respond coldly when I asked questions. The pricing structure and service just made this a really unpleasant experience that was not at all offset by their large stock. I will skip this when I'm in the area and won't be recommending to friends.
