I go to the Dunkin Donut store a few doors down. I stopped at the bagel shop to get a bacon egg and cheese on a roll. Store is clean, cooking area is visible and clean. Staff is friendly and answered my questions. I am giving 3 stars because there is a $1.25 extra fee for any sandwich you order with eggs. This place is my to-go place. The only downside is the fact that they only do cash so if you are a credit card person, you have to go somewhere and get the cash. The only reason I am taking away stars is that I have ordered a day before for a big purchase and paid and everything ahead of time. I understand that I was going to pick it up early, but that is why I called a day before. In the morning when I went to pick it up, the old lady gave me attitude for making such a big order and taking all the bagels that they just made.. It seemed pretty unfair because I did order ahead of time because of that. (I was picking up bagels for my job). She also didn't want to give it to me because she said I didn't pay and in the paper it said nothing about that I paid which is also upsetting. I had to tell her yes I did and give the description of the man who took it. This is where it gets hard because if I paid in card, I could have showed the proof. Another man in the back that saw me the day before came and told her that he saw me yesterday and that I did pay. I spent way longer in that store than I had too. As always, I give every spot 2 visits before providing a final judgement, but I always give feedback after my first visit. Ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese as they didn't have any wheat bagels left. It was weird since it was pretty early in the morning for them to have run out of them so soon but it wasn't a big deal to me. The bagel I had was alright. Hands down the closest thing to a traditional Jewish bagel in the area. Chewy, a very slight sweetness in the dough, not a "bread-like" texture like 99% of the other bagel shops in the area. I hope the owner has written down his recipe so it can live on in this area for years to come. I work in Manhattan and have been sorely disappointed with most all bagels I've eaten (Essa-a-Bagel is the only place I've encountered with a real bagel). In my opinion, this place makes the greatest Taylor ham, egg, and cheese in Bergen County. Everything about this sandwich is perfect. Nicely fried, thick slices of Taylor ham along with perfectly cooked eggs and melted slices of cheese all dance together in perfect splendor, creating a masterpiece of a sandwich. I'm impressed by the consistency of the service too - the sandwich is perfect every single time I order it. I got a nova lox on an everything bagel with red onions and tomatoes. This is a new found obsession. I just had the same for the first time in NYC and comparing to that one I loved this one better. They don't put too much cream cheese which worried me that I wouldn't like the balance of my sandwich but it was great. The bagel was chewy on the inside which I love. Service was also great! I ordered ahead and when I got home and opened the bag, my bagel was burnt to a crisp. They did replace it, however, when I went back I ordered bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. I asked for a certain bagel and didn't get it but I was ok with that. Then she put the cheese on the top of the bagel and added salt and pepper on the cheese. Then she put the ketchup on top of the cheese and when she squirted it out it was watery and hardly any actual ketchup came out. I dismissed that and asked for more ketchup. She quickly packaged up the bagel, tossed it on the counter and said I'll give you packets. I walked away and told my mom to get my money back. I had a terrible experience with the owner and I ordered here for over two months straight every single weekend and today all of a sudden the owner wants to tell me that they never delivered to my house when I in fact have ordered multiple times with delivery. The owner also hung up the phone on me after I had a conversation he told me to come to his store so we can have a better conversation and deal with it if I love to eat there so much. I've never had an experience like this that restaurant food is so good but the owner is such a jack ass. read more

3.5 stars. Pretty good bagels, efficient staff. My BECH was pretty good, but the egg and bacon were way overcooked (picture something cooked to the point where nobody could possibly complain that it was undercooked, then leave it on the grill for another minute). The bacon was delicious though - flavorful, smoky and just salty enough. The everything bagel was really flavorful, although maybe a bit chewy. I went in on a Saturday morning, and they weren't that busy. The girl who helped me was not rude or anything, she was just... sour. A man behind the counter, whom I believe was the owner, was completely engrossed in a conversation with a man who I assume was a customer, talking rather rudely about people I might add. The customer then went behind the counter... not sure how I feel about that. The place itself is dingy, but not unclean. Good parking, good selection of beverages in the cooler. They didn't post prices for breakfast sandwiches. Upshot: I'd go back if passing by, but wouldn't go out of my way. I may go back on Matt S.'s recommendation and check out the lox though - hard to find in the area. read more

Great bagels! There are none in VA where I live, so it was really nice to get some authentic bagels! They take cash only though. So remember that. But QuickCheck, 3 stores down, has an ATM. Husband thought they should post their whole menu, every time we'd go in, the people ordering before and after us were ordering sandwiches with eggs/bacon...other stuff that is not visible on their small menu that they display on their wall! read more

Hands down, the best bagels anywhere! I stop and pick up a dozen occasionally and take them to work in NYC, the bagel capital, and everyone always says they are the best bagels they've ever tasted. Wow!! These are great bagels; the best that we have ever had. We even skipped dinner and had a bagel from the back of the car while traveling home.
