Big fan of this Garfield's location! I live down the street and when I am craving a ~drink~ I come here and HERE only! Huzzah! The owners/workers there are very personable and seem to be having a good time (usually). I love their alc selection--great craft beers babyyyy. They also have some snacky snacks! Pirates Booty--yum! ONLY DOWNSIDE... it is a little expensive. My favorite bottle of wine (Malbec, uh huhhh) is $14 at Foxtrot on Division and $18 at Garfield's.... but w/e. Sometimes I forget that this liquor store is in my neighborhood. It does have an attached parking lot which gets filled up very quickly. However if I don't feel like going to a big grocery store another or liquor stores in the neighborhood, it is a good choice. They have a good selection a wine. For a smaller location it has a very good selection of both wine and liquor. In addition to having a nice collection of already cold items such as beer, wine, champagne, cocktails to go. Every time I go here the people that work here are helpful but not all up in your face which can be appreciated. They even offered to look up one of my favorite wines which I can't signify in Chicago. Nonetheless, I did Find a reasonable substitute which I was very happy with. On this occasion I purchased 1 white wine and 1 red wine. I really didnt want to wait on white wine to get cold so I got a bottle of red. Both wines were actually on sale with the Garfield's reward membership. I ended up saving $7 on 2 bottles of wine so that was really nice. so out the door I spent $20 on 2 bottles a pretty good wine. The red wine was Gen5, it was a red blend. Overall I liked it however it was a little light. However I did notice that this brand of wine makers has a Cab Sauv so I would like to try that. I prefer a more full-bodied wine when drinking red in the winter The white wine has fantastic it was called La Fiera which was a Pinot Grigio. I have really been on a Pinot Grigio kick for the last 3-5 years. One of my favorite Pinot Grigio, I cannot seem to find in the state of Illinois. I even tried to have it shipped in from Arizona and that was a no go. Anyway La Fiera is from the same region. D.O.C label tends to be my favorite area for Pinot Grigio. I throughly enjoyed this wine. It will serve as my go to Pinot Grigio when I want an affordable tasty glass of white wine. I think this bottle typically goes for 13.99. Not bad at all. read more

The delivery service at this location (perhaps all locations?) is terrible. They never deliver at the time scheduled. They don't contact you to let you know that the delivery will be late. Yet, when you call them to enquire where your order is they send it straight over. It's as if they only provide timely service if you call to ask them why the order hasn't arrived. After I had 3 orders in a row not show up as promised, I will no longer order from them. Binny's delivers when they say they will and the pricing is better. I wanted to support a local business but these guys don't seem to care about customer service. read more

This location has a good selection and the employees have always been helpful and friendly to me. Side note, they do not hire the booting company, their landlord does. I had an incident with the boot company in front and after reaching out to Garfield's, an employee emailed me back immediately. I really felt like he cared about his customers and their experience shopping here. But do not leave the parking lot for any reason or length of time. read more

The selection is decent, and chiefly the reason why I'd give Garfield's a 2-star rating. My advice would be to go there knowing what you want, so as to minimize the interaction you have with some of the staff, who can be a bit unfriendly- especially if you're looking for a tougher-to-get bottle. It's as though they cannot be bothered to make a sale. If you're looking for a store with a staff that's happy to address your concerns, whether it's recommending a good bottle, advising you where to find that bottle of Blanton's bourbon, or which type of porter will pair with your steak, I'd advise you to look... literally anywhere else. read more

I've been reading some of the reviews and I'm not sure why these people are complaining about getting caught parking illegally. Garfields is a resident store and not in the towing business however, I'm sure they have nothing to do with watching the parking, anyway what is wrong with protecting parking spaces to survive? Parking in Chicago is an asset for patrons and a very expensive one at that, with the expense of insurance, and maintenance fees to upkeep the parking lot, it is not a gratuity for non-patrons or people that want to run their errands and are ignorant to signs. Anyway, I've been to this liquor store many times and I find it fantastic, the staff is very friendly, the selection is plentiful, and the best thing about the store is there's always a space to park and get liquor, so I want to thank that company for thinking about the patrons and keeping those selfish lawbreakers away. One thing my parents always taught me to respect other people's property! Thanks to owner of the property for hiring them because I now feel safe when I go to shop! Parked in their lot and put in an order at Small Cheval (took less than 5 min) and went back to buy beer. Got a boot and $170 ticket. Do not for ANY reason step on foot outside the parking lot for ANY period of time. ** COPIED FROM SAMANTHAS POST ** because the same shit just happened to me. They have a brown sign on one side that basically says "See other signs." I ran in to grab my food came back with a boot on my car. The "other signs" also say after 15 minutes violators will be towed or booted. Five minutes is not 15 minutes. People are waiting to screw you over. read more

One of the few places where you can get Right Bee Cider. They have a great assortment of ciders (and really all alcohol). The staff are very helpful and the layout is very nice and clean. When I walked in, I saw someone dusting the shelves. This isn't your normal dingy liquor store. There's free parking out front and it's very close to the blue line. read more

I went to purchase something from Garfield and I noticed there were a lot of people not going to Garfield's and parking to go to Small Chevel across the St., Who does that? I mean what kind of people what brought up not to respect other people's property I think that's so wrong I'm glad they finally have somebody out to teach these people a lesson that their parents should've taught them. I walked in last weekend and I felt like I had just walking into a wonderland of beers, wines and liquids.... each bottle was dusted sparkling clean and found one of my most favorite beers. Yes! Spectacular selection ... cold beer equal to Binny's and Foremost in craft quantity at the same price point. This place is 100x better than the shuttered Evolution (would not be televised) Wine and Spirits it replaced .. they completely redid the joint, it's night and day. Haven't taken too close a look but liquor selection and price also seem to be there. Did a quick check on the bourbon section. They had Buffalo Trace 750 ml at $28 and High West at $35 .. good value. This liquor store is outstanding in every way. Getting to Garfield's is made easy due to both it's close distance to the CTA blue line, buses, and the fact that it has a large free parking lot in front of it. When walking inside of the store, you will immediately notice how open and clean every inch of it is. There is a great selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Normally, there will even be a couple of spirits available for sampling at the front of the store. I am a whiskey lover, and the selection of these type of spirits at Garfield's is truly overwhelming. I love Binny's, but Garfield's appears to have as much or even slightly more than most Binny's locations. I also applaud the amount of different brands that Garfield's carries in regards to absinthe and liqueurs. The prices for most items here seem the same as most liquor stores in Chicago. Garfield's is a great place to check out if you find yourself in the Wicker Park area and need something to help get the party started. read more

AWESOME liquor store in Bucktown. It has a top-notch and wide bourbon/rye selection. They get a ton of interesting private bourbon and rye barrels that rotate on a frequent basis. Excellent prices. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Lots of tastings of all shapes and sizes. This is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I hope they are here for a long, long time. read more

Selection is fantastic, staff is helpful, inventory is laid out well. You will be intimidated by how many different kinds of beer this place has. But not just that! They have all the fixings necessary for a well stocked personal bar (bitters and all that). Not to mention the variety of Bloody Mary mixes. they have. This store has an excellent selection outside of the straightforward beer and liquor you might expect. Complementing that excellent selection is an incredibly knowledgable staff who clearly care about you having a great beverage. I've come out of here multiple times with excellent recommendations that have been among my favorite beverages ever. Particularly have gotten good recs in ginger beer and cider, though I have no doubt they know what they're doing in all major alcohol categories. Hoping this place sticks around!! read more
