For a small town in northwest Wisconsin, Garibaldi's offers a pleasant experience at a reasonable price. We arrived during happy hour, which runs from 3 to 5,even on Saturdays, and were able to take advantage of the $3 tall beers and $3.75 margaritas. Off to a good start, the server brought out our free basket of chips and salsa, although I should note that subsequent baskets of chips and salsa cost $1 each. At least the chips are warm and relatively fresh. Most entrees cost between $8 and $11, with a few costing more for considerably more food than any one person has a reasonable need to consume. Nevertheless, the food arrived in due course and it was massively covered with cheese. It's not the most accurate or exciting taste, but it's does the job. You'll probably want to request some hot sauce, or pack your own because this is Northwoods, Wisconsin, and all in all, and it's not a hot and spicy crowd. The service is friendly and helpful. There's nothing objectionable, just a bunch of good comfort food for a great price. .

Seafood Chimichanga made with shrimp and real crab not imitation like a lot of places.

Very disappointed. Margarita was watery and the food had no flavor. Wasn't looking or expecting five star in Amery but this was aweful.

This visit had us scratching our heads a little. The menu says dinners come with vegetables, soup or salad, and a choice of potato. Dad ordered the shrimp and asked for coleslaw as his salad. The waitress wasn't sure they could substitute coleslaw, which seemed a little strange considering coleslaw is literally a salad. Then I asked what the vegetable choices were and was told, "You get peas." So apparently the vegetable choice is...peas. Nothing that ruined the meal, just a couple little menu quirks that made us go, "Hmm...okay." The restaurant itself is really nice inside. It has a clean, neat, newer-looking interior with newer, well-kept tables and booths. Everything looked clean and taken care of, which definitely adds to the experience. Overall, good food, very friendly staff, a clean and comfortable atmosphere, and a couple funny menu moments. We've been here several times and would come back again. So now we get the food and no peas. The staff says Turkey Dinner does not come with peas.

I noticed the bar has a stage for bands and room for a dance floor. As we walked in, the bartender asked if we were there for lunch at the supper club and walked us through the restaurant entrance to a hostess stand. The supper club is spacious with white tablecloths and old fashioned velvet chairs. It also looks out to the beautiful courtyard. Our server was Robyn who was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered cocktails to start. A Black Cherry Old Fashioned and a Raspberry Mojito. Both were under $10 and delicious. For lunch, I ordered the Dalles House Burger; Hand pattied burger with two cheeses, bacon, onion, lettuce, tomato, and thousand island dressing on the side $17.99. The flavors were good but I asked for it to be cooked to medium temperature and it was very well done. Disappointing. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the Fish Tacos. Three soft flour tortillas filled with crispy fried white fish, shredded cabbage, fresh pico de gallo, and a zesty cilantro lime aioli. Served with tortilla chips, sour cream, and salsa $17.99. He said the tacos were tasty but the tortilla chips tasted store bought. Despite my burger being overcooked, we did have a nice experience. We would like to try it again but for dinner.

We decided to meet for lunch and it was a very enjoyable experience. Robyn was our server - she was attentive and even took a moment to take our picture. I had the turkey BLT and my husband had the fish tacos. I liked the turkey BLT was in a spinach wrap- very tasty and a good sized portion. The fries were tasty too. Husband really enjoyed the fish tacos- he was a plate cleaner lol The view is pretty, you are not rushed, so it was an enjoyable afternoon. They do have a more casual bar area and it was quite busy. We also noted a pretty large banquet space too (200 people) Total bill for 4 meals and 4 drinks was $114. The brandy old fashioned's were $9 each and the margaritas were $12 each. We are now on a mission to try all the supper clubs!

In the end, the three of us agreed that we definitely had a 5 star experience. We arrived at opening and we happened to be served by the owner himself - a really nice guy. He gave us a brief history of the bar, which is extensive. The Old Saloon has been around with the current name since 1975 (the building is a lot older). The current owner has been at the helm for 30 years! Obviously, he's knows what he's doing. Our food was excellent...everything from the Ellsworth Cheese Curds, the wings, the salad, the burger, the Chicago style hotdog, and the savory mac & cheese soup! Of course, since this is Wisconsin, they have a great selection of beer on tap. The prices were amazingly reasonable to. We probably would have paid double in the Twin Cities. The décor is cool too. Apparently, the owner's wife is the chief decorator and she does a great job. I particularly love the vintage and antique stuff. They have some very old and rare original neon signs, an old Schwinn Phantom, and an antique penny scale. There are a few reproductions here & there but most of it is totally original. Cool! Thanks for a great experience! Thumbs up! - Maxx

The bar tender told us they only have a breakfast buffet on Sundays. While I was looking at the breakfast buffet, a gentleman approached and asked if we were staying for the buffet. I explained we were in town for the gymnastics tournament and were looking for food to go so we could feed our kids who were at the gym. His name is Harry, and he owns Lucky's Bar and Grill. Harry said the buffet items probably wouldn't work, and the grill is closed but he does have some home-made pizzas that he could make. Harry was so overly-accomodating and treated us like family. The pizzas were awesome and Harry, you are the best!

Clear Lake has a populaiton of about 1000 with a downtown of five to six square blocks surrounded by many churches with a long history of German and Norwegian settlment dating back to the late 1800's. Lucky's Bar and Grill is the primary meeting spot for the locals. I ate breakfast with my cousin two mornings in a row and was invited to join the revolving table of strongly opinionated farmers and farm equipment manufacturers. After a few minutes I could quickly see politics and farming were the two primary topics of discussion. I will duck the biased political viewpoints but one of the farmers had an interesting point. Why are we growing corn to make ethanol when there is plenty of oil in the ground. From a farmer's perspective maybe he is correct and we need to look for oil in the right location. Another farmer and his twin brother invented the mechanical bean picker while in high school and run a farm equipment company a few blocks away employing a hundred people. Later in the morning we stopped by to visit PBO and received the cooks tour. PBO is also known for making civil war cannon replicas down to the last detail and fires them at many civil war functions around the country. Another farmer puts out scores of nesting boxes for martins which are similar to swallows. We also visited his farm and saw tens of martins flying all over the place. All in all a lively hour long form of entertainment plus cheap breakfast with farm fresh eggs, bacon, toast or oatmeal and toast. Where else can you get breakfast for three with coffee for under $15 and be entertained?
