Upon my dad's passing, Scott Swartz himself came to get his body in the wee hours of the morning. This was handled with such care and compassion, I never in a million years would have thought I'd be comforted as my dad was taken away. Yet, I was. Hours later, Scott was even checking in on how the dog was handling my dad's passing. Every interaction left me feeling cared for. Not once did they try to upsell my family on anything and were more than happy to create space for my family to gather. If anyone ever asks for my recommendation for their family member, it will be Swartz! I'm pretty sure we owe them a bag or three of mints too!

It's been over 15 months since working directly with Swartz but after attending a memorial service yesterday with a different Mortuary, I had to share our positive experience in a very sad situation. The Brown County Historical Society has a spacious building on the northeast side of Nashville with…read morea limited amount of parking out front. The two story facility has several wagons parked on the front landing and a large gathering room for activities in one section inside. As you enter the building, there is a gift shop behind the front desk and a Gnaw Bone Cabin exhibit on the right. Though the walls look like a cabin, the fact that there is a high ceiling and several displays inside the open space which is also quite large, makes you realize quickly that this exhibit shows items that may have been found in and around a cabin, but is not a realistic representation of a cabin. (For that, head over to the Pioneer Village a block to the south.) To the left of the entryway is a hallway with more exhibits. There are found items, photo displays of local groups, and assorted collections that display some of the history of the county. Although there is a second story, there were no signs indicating that there was anything for visitors to see there. My only complaint about the society's collection is that there is very little about the famous art colonies that had such an integral part in shaping modern Nashville. I know that a lot of the TC Steele items have been collected at the home site a few miles southwest of Nashville, but it would have been nice to see something about Steele and his associates represented. Mother-in-law passed away last month, we knew…read morethat it was coming so I spoke with several funeral homes and chose to go with Glenn George and son funeral home do to the price they gave me upfront, it was much better than what was offered to me elsewhere similar accommodations. The building from outside looks brand new and the inside was very presentable clean I would say spotless. I went into the funeral home and paid in advance only the day before she passed away. From the time I walked in the door to discuss the the arrangements they treated me and my family as though we were part of their family. My wife and I on separate occasions since we've laid Mother-in-law to rest have had to reach out to them and they have continuously treat us with kindness courtesy and the upmost respect. Flower arrangement slideshow make up and hair was done extremely well. Everybody at the funeral home went above and beyond during the viewing we spent more time there than anticipated without any additional charges. They worked with us and father Mike at St. Joseph Catholic Church to be able to have the viewing in the afternoon evening and to have an evening service at St. Joseph Catholic Church all in one day. They were even able to live stream the Catholic service so my son who is in the military was able to view it since he was not able to get home. Because of the time of the viewing and service everybody that wanted to come by and pay respects were able to which was very important to my wife and myself. It's more of a sewing machine dealer versus a sewing /fabric shop. You can't go in without trying to get talked into buying at 7-10k sewing / embroidery machine. They do have some patterns and projects but they are definitely focused on an older clientele. Table runners and quilted wall hangings make up a lot of the kits they have, I'm 27 and personally would not put something like that in my home. The selection of fabric was lack luster many similar prints that are dated or just plain. They did have a few cute ones. I want to like and use this store so badly I'm sure I could learn so much from the people there. There is just nothing there for younger beginners with basic machines. They have lessons on their machines in the hopes you will buy one. It's just not helpful to the next generation trying to start out.
